The fact that Mute beat the best player in Japan, the best player in Europe, the best player in Mexico, and a top 2 player in the US, in one tournament is absolutely incredible
Leo is just way more consistent than everyone else, and that’s what separates him from the rest of the 4.

He still lacks a bit of longevity in the scene to cement the consistency he has
It's not just that. When all the odds are against him, when people doubt him, when all the pressure is on him and his title is at stake, Leo pushes through and comes out on top. Something that clearly the others weren't ready for this time.
Leo is the best, not simply because he's the most consistent, but because he IS the best player and he wins where it counts the most.
It doesn’t matter if Leo stumbles a bit or it looks like his time is up he always comes back stronger. That’s why he is the GOAT of smash bros
I think is just his strategy so the opponent gains confidence and grows anxious as he then plays seriously. He just fakes it enough so his opponent thinks he is close to win (and becomes hard to mentalshift once his oponents have the upper hand). Not sure why players havent figured him out yet. Pretty basic strat

I'm very proud of Mute for making this far. Hopefully he'll be able to do more tournaments even though he's got really bad hand and joint pain
Watching Leo's run literally had me teary-eyed and covered in goosebumps. He's simply incredible.
Correction: in their last set at LMBM 2023 Sonix defeated MKLeo 3-2, not 3-0.
Also it's nice that even though Leo won, other players are proving they can put up a fight against him rather than Leo just farming like at Rise N Grind
Facing Leo at Genesis is like fighting the Undertaker at Wrestlemania
MKLeo continuously proves that he is the master of adaptability. He always figures it out.
One thing that sets Leo apart is how calm and composed he is. If you look at the player cam, pretty much everybody shows signs of anxiety, but Leo doesn't seem to do so.
More importantly, he is gracious in both winning and losing. I don't think he's ever thrown a tantrum when he lost early, and the most he does when he wins is do a fist pump. No jumping, shouting, or preening.
Once again mk Leo proving all the doubters wrong that he is still the GOAT of smash ultimate!! I absolutely love these type of videos poppt! I love competitive smash and you just make it so fun and entertaining!

The Mkleo effect is crazy. Leo is more like to win a set if his opponent has won 2 set in a way of five. He is the clutch king.

I was kinda sceptical about the whole ‘getting people more into competitive smash’ angle, but I am unbelievably hyped for this

MuteAce showed THE FUCK UP at this tournament, he's an incredible player with a lot of sauce and technical skill. I think it's safe to say he'll be in the public eye significantly more going forward.
For sure I had heard of him a lot but never really watched his sets. But after watching all his sets at genesis I am eager to see more of his peach 😄.

Dude Mute played out of their gourd this genesis. The movement was smooth as hell and their showing was strong. Grands was so fun to watch.
I’m convinced that the only reason Leo won this tournament is because of the massive positive energy that this guy was sending him while spectating
I think my favorite part about Smash tournaments is seeing the interactions between the players before, during, and after the games/sets. The pop-offs are great to watch, but it's nice to see how respectful they are before and after as well. The relationships between top players, even outside of tournaments, is definitely the best thing about this game.

I really appreciate muteace being able to make it so far, despite the fact that the odds were so incredibly stacked against him, what an amazing performance
I think the reason a lot of muteace edge guards weren't working is joker has Invulnerability on frames 1-25 (3-25 in air) for his recovery, so instead of staying out to try to use float-nair to interrupt the recovery, like they did at the beginning of the set , they opted to go back to stage towards the end

I have to say this was the most on my seat I’ve been for a tournament in a while.
It’s just too bad Jordan couldn’t make it to get the gold. But we all know he’d win.
I tried my best to stay up and watch the tournament with you, I really love how passionate you are about comp smash and Leo! Have to say it was much more exciting stream than I expected, especially with all the spins before and after sets!

Yes, just the video I needed! I like this a lot more than watching the raw footage of the matches, especially when grand finals takes about an hour.
The craziest thing about that marss clip is: he literally did the same last stock dair spike offstage to clutch out game 1.

Tho light is probably my favorite pro player, I've got to hand it to mkleo for making his ever famous down by 2 comeback.
The fact that you’re statistically more likely to lose to Leo after going up 2-0 vs him than you are if you start 0-2 is crazy enough. But then you add in a - FINALLY - seemingly sober Leo, and there’s no shot.
I was there in the live stream, seeing Leo fall off into losers to end up winning was very hype to watch. He had so many close games but it’s very exciting to see Leo come up on top after all that.
“It seems that people forgot but it’s me, surprise.” Is one of the most gangster things anyone has ever said at these tournaments 😂 The GOAT.

This tourney felt like 2019, Leo making so many game 5 clutches and chat complaining about Joker
Leo has fought the crowds, the commentators and the history books; he is THE GOAT. Smash 'community' and its vocal representatives need to hide their bias when they commentate and accept that the American players aren't on Leo's level.

MKLeo is American you know. Being a US-American or a Mexican-American isn't the same thing but both are still Americans.
We forget way to much that America is a continent and as such the term "Americans" doesn't belong to the US of A. Brazilians are americans.

Light didn't get powered up by the redbull, he got powered up by taking of his sweater. Lights power comes from how little clothes his wearing on his arm. I mean look at all the time he rolls up his sleeves before a comeback.

Those were probably benzodiazepines that Light took for anxiety, Jordan.
Assuming it was stress related. Amphetamines would make him much more stressed depending on what it was and how much.
I also wouldn't consider either of them as "hard core" drugs. The latter fucked up my life for 12 years, sure. But I was abusing it heavily. Therapeutic doses are good however.

Fantastic tourney in all. So many game 5 sets. Really great top 8. What’s so special about Leo is that most people want to see him continue to succeed despite being at the top for so long. He’s such a humble, modest personality and let’s his gameplay do the talking for him. It’s nice to have such a good personality as the No 1. player in the world

Super happy Leo won, but I’m soooo happy that Muteace did really well. Peach is one of those characters that when played super well is an absolute menace and I was stoked that mute got to grands like holy crap he played out of his mind

Seeing a grand final with such stylish characters is such and amazing thing to witness with the current meta that exists in the game currently. Muteace did amazing and I hope that it inspires people to pick up characters like Peach so we can have some more entertaining tournaments in the future.
I feel like Light is definitely in the mix for second best, he doesnt have the tournament wins the others do but hes the most consistent and doesn't have as low of lows as the others and also does well head to head.

Hi Jordan, I have a question I would like your insight on as a Smash Competitor:
How do you deal with anxiety when competing in Smash Bros?
For example, often when I take a stock or complete a good sequence my performance anxiety breaks a threshold where my focus breaks. I've found that "poping off" when this happens helps a bit. Maybe thats why Hbox pops off so hard.

The melee event for g9 was really good too. I NEVER watch melee but the grand finals was amazing especially since a shiek won
If Light didn't choke in the match vs Leo, he'd had made it to the grand finals and there'd be a chance for Light to secure the genesis. In that set, he had a stock lead in the third game and all he need to book his ticket was to just take Leo's stock at higher. Light would go on and fail. It didn't end there, he was also greeted with 2 losses knocking him away. 😭😭
The underdogs including you and MKLeo made me continue playing SSB I never owned a switch it's my dream to get one in order to improve my skill

I was REALLY rooting for Light in this tournament. The fact that he was one stock away from grands TWICE was heartbreaking, and probably even could've beaten Ace due to the pressure and them being even in the previous match.
It could've went either way. Tbh i thought he had muteace.. that DI from him when light hit the up smash and back air maaaannnn..... he was playing out of his mind 🔥🔥
