  • Recently to celebrate Sampras 50th birthday, ATP did a nice video of amazing Sampras shots and rallies in ATP tournaments. We decided to do 50 of the best in Major Tournaments and Davis Cup. How about 50 more?

The final rally and the classic sampras walkaway once the point is over is really vivid in my mind even after so many years, such a great player!!!

2:46 No need of audio or subtitles to know what Jim says. 🙂
Wonderful selection, as always a pleasure to watch, not for Pete's sake, but for old Pete fans.

I love how Rafter looks back at Sampras at 19:19 He can't believe he got passed from so far back when he hit a damn good volley!

Thanks. I wish DVD recorders were around in the 1990s because there are a lot more shots for consideration but the video quality of many matches off old VCR is just too poor to use.

Pete's talent to see a short ball and deal with it is hugely underrated

    • @BurnsTennis

That is a superb observation. How many players today practice on how to deal with the short ball and pressure the opponent? Since Federer I can't think of too many. This is what players like Tsistispas have to get in their arsenal.

Yeah right! Underrated by the players he beat...

@@lukey1210 Well I have good news. Since this debate started, Carlos Alcaraz with the help of Juan Carlos Ferrero has shown he knows what to do with the short ball.

Pistol Pete is the GOAT 🐐. The main reason I started playing tennis. My high school coach claimed to know him 😮

Sampras n Agassi Will always be my no1s like Seles Sabatini and Pearce great era. I must say though that there’s way better Sampras points out there.
Agassi vs Sampras Indian Wells 95, Sampras vs Courier AO 1994
    Sampras vs Agassi Miami 95
Sampras vs Richard Kraijeck US 2000
These had way more treasure in them
In my personal opinion having been his fan since 1994 and a tennis coach lol

Yes but some points you mentioned are ATP points, and these are Grand Slam and Davis cup points only (ITF sanctioned). Also, I was determined not to use great points from poor quality videos. RUclips is full of poor quality video tapes which is a pity. Sampras played in an era before DVD recorders and digital tv became standard. I agree there are are hundreds of points that can be used.
Did you watch the first video?

    Dude was just a serve…🙄
I think this video proves Sampras was more than that. So sick of hearing that about Sampras
