A comprehensive explanation of Australian currency. Speaking about the country's that has it as its official currency, denomination, composition, and images on the note.
Well, done mate. In the coins we only have a 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and then the 1- and 2-dollar coin. stamping of the one-cent was stopped in 1990 and the two-cent coin was stopped in 1992. Fun fact all our coins have a native animal on them. The 1 cent coin had a feathertail glider and 2 cent coin had a frill-necked lizard
Gday friend. Haaaa I'm speaking like an Aussie. Thank you for supporting the channel through watching and commenting. I wasn't aware of the information you shared about your native coins. I am not the vast in knowledge about my native coins. Paper currency has always been my passion. I'm not sure but I think I have a from Aussie coins. If not I will make sure that I collect some next time I'm in your neck of the woods. See you next Tuesday...
Extremely entertaining and informative video! Really great to see someone from the US taking an interest in our country and our currency. Great work! Hopefully your work will spread the word about our beautiful and unique country. I also note your reference to your flight here of 14 hours 58 minutes(?). Now you know what us Aussies have to go through whenever we visit the other continents! It ain't easy mate! Next time, you'll have to allow a bit more time to explore our country. A month an absolute minimum!
Heeeey thank you for watching and supporting the channel. Your country is magnificent and beautiful. A month is of relaxing down under is a great idea. There really is so much I look forward to doing once I/ we return. Bucket list item. Go to the Australian Open. (We just had an American win it). There are so many locations I would love to visit. Yeah a 15 hour flight is no joke. But I'm looking forward to doing it again 😢😅😂😂. Well I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you find the other ones as entertaining and educational. See you next Tuesday...
Interesting facts, and you did okay with most pronunciations. Except Canberra… it’s just as written, not so much Canterbury ;) Lots of interesting history in the pics, too, like the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Fun embarrassing fact: some Aussie $50 have a typo… lol.
Awww. Thank you for extending me some grace regarding my American accent. If you are a national resident off Australia, you have a beautiful country and I loo forward to returning. I am pleased that you liked my video. I really try to be as thorough and as entertaining as possible as well as properly informed. What is the typo on the $50 note (Is it something written, or an image that is erroneous). I am going to have another look at my note now.
@@legaltender1980 It’s in the microwriting (“responsiBILTY” instead of “responsiBILITY”), but only in ones from 2018, I think… you can google it, of course. I remember $1 and $2 coins replacing the notes (it didn’t feel like as much pocket money when I got a coin instead of a note… lol) but I didn’t realise the $100 only came into production in the 80’s. I’d assumed, like most things, that they’d been around since long before I was born. Good to learn new things every day…
The Australian $50 note features a typo in the reverse text, where the word "responsibility" is misspelled as "responsibilty". Approximately 46 million banknotes with this error are currently in circulation (cited from Goggle). You were correct on all. I was looking at my note through a magnifying lens. But to no avail. I have the earlier edition/ series $50 note from 2003. The error is on series year 2018. Another reason to return to the Land Down Under and go scrap searching. I'm glad you found my content/ episode educational. That is my overall goal. Check out some other episodes, hopefully the trend continues... Thanks for the information. See you next Tuesday...

@bigm9228 apologies for my mispronounciation. No disrespect is intended. Thank you for not crushing me in the comments. Your mercy is greatly appreciated. 😊😉😊...
@jimw7916 apologies for all mate. Thank you for providing that clarification. Hyatt Regency where we stayed was super close to Darlington Harbour. I didn't know that didn't count as a harbour. Regarding Canberra. I only spoke it as it is spelled. No ill intentions were meant...🤭🫢🤭
@jimw7916 I hope to see you next Tuesday. I definitely acknowledged my shortcomings regarding my pronunciation of your capital and paid homage to all the Aussie's as well (hopefully, at least) for their grace regarding my accent...
the original $2 note was only ever paper, and changed to a coin in 88. With its demise went the gambling game Woolies or Weeties. As in heads or tails with a coin, the note was flung about, a call of "woolies" or "weeties" made. If it landed with the wheat-field picture up = weeties.... the sheep picture up = woolies. (Weeties is an iconic breakfast cereal made from wheat, appearing in other sayings ... "where'd you get your licence...? from a Weeties packet?" (bad driver)... "... not eaten your Weeties... " (if you're being weak)).
Hey friend. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel. Also thank you for sharing that story (I would reckon a childhood story) about the coin gambling game. That sounds an awful lot like a game I played as a kid (Heads or Tails). The anecdote on the where you got your license if you're a bad driver is hysterical (something else us American might use) only with a slight deviation. We'll say (Where'd you get your license? From the back of a cracker jack box)... Great talking to you. See you next Tuesday...
