Sweet Lilly. She stays quietly in the background and loves all the animal and does her chores. The boys are such hard workers with their dad. You have a beautiful family and both of you are teaching your children values and love that are so needed by many right now.
Impact sprinklers have a adjustment screw on the side, Tighten the screw and it gets in the spray pattern creating more splatter in the spray pattern. The little spring on the side acts like a rocker arm, turn it one way for longer spray patterns, the other for more dense patterns.
could use the long shooting mode and move that flap down so it blocks the stream and just reaches the corners. or could flip that piece back down and arrange the other pieces that it bumps into( causing it to switch modes) so it spins almost 360 on the long mode then goes back almost 360 on the short mode covering everything better. hard to explain but just trying to save you 2 sprinklers if you happen to see this and make sense of it.
You just keep on teaching even if it doesn't apply to you (2" water if it's hot or dry) those of us in the hot and dry places are learning from you 😉♥️
🇳🇱NL.The best time to spray plants is when it is dark, for example in the evening and very early in the morning, because when the sun shines the water does not have the opportunity to pull into the ground and greetings evaporated by the heat from the Netherlands (Europe ) Hans.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍀❤️
Thanks. It's best to water in the morning as you say. You don't want to water in the evening though as the plants will go into the night wet and could get fungus among us. LOL.
Get or make a wide and deep big wheeled dolly for the bigs waterer. A 55 gallon drum dolly with the wheels swapped out for ones with air would work great!
Sounds like the new sprinkler needs a user s manual. It certainly looks sturdier than your first one..but definetely the company should invest in a short manual to inform users. But it was a great problem solving exercise for your son...beautiful interaction with your child..great parenting..cheers
Any type of Rainbird sprinkler is spraying a rectangular plot with a circular pattern. Might consider adding more sprinkler heads. Yes, I just heard you say setting the sprinklers at the corners. Then you can set them to spray in a wedge which will get the edges with only a small overlap in the middle. They take a bit of adjusting but you will love them in the long run.
a university did a study years ago... there were 3 stages. 1: on a 10 mi axis they did a cross pattern of rain gauges every 1/4 mi. on a rainfall event the pattern was not even. 2: moving the pattern to 1 mi, every 10 '. the pattern was not even 3: last on the football field, were 6"", the pattern was not even. thus plant multiple gauges for your watering
Take one of those volunteers, cut a bit off the bottom, put in glass of water and the plant will grow new roots. Then plant it. Just try it. Joy Giles Also, have you ever thought of using drip tape. Water immediately goes to the plant rather than perhaps losing some of the water from evaporation as well as keeping the foliage wet and possible susceptible to disease. Joy Giles
Learning through difficulties (with the sprinkler) is often the best way to learn. Rectangle beds are fun to water. Take a rectangle and cover it with a circle and u get my point. Cover the long side of the bed and you are wasting water. Soaker hoses might be an answer. Do ur best, there is no simple answer. Welcome to battle. One head is always the best answer for the circle bed. But that's not the best bed style.
Good to see you getting used to that pesky sprinkler......watering from opposing corners works really well.... just set the droplet pattern to a 90 ish degree sweep for each corner then use the jet screw and deflector plate to create lots of large droplets. Also put several more same size pots or jars out, lengthways and width so you can check evenness of watering. If you still get lots of dry patches rather than spend lots of time moving the sprinklers it may be worthwhile looking at a rain train......they move themselves on a hydraulic winch and shut themselves off at the end of the run. Best of luck.....
Next year make round gardens. Setting up waterers is so time consuming, I put on many miles just setting up watering systems and I only had a small back yard garden. Dont want to water the street, the neighbour's fence, the roof of the house, the deck, the shed. Got caught more than once in our motion sensor sprinkler designed to keep cats away. Fun tho anyway
I'm going to get 4-6 egg laying chickens with quite alot of outside space in are garden and a compost heap, what size coop would you recommend I build for them?
Flip the shield down click the little side it’s going in reverse so you want to make it go forward there’s a V-shaped clamp on the back of the sprinkler click at the other direction
If you plant letuce where it get sun in the morning and shade from noon to sunset and use a mist system during the hottest part of the day you can grow letuce even during the heet of summer. I grow it year round. Shade cloth suspended 6 ft above the letuce also helps if you do not have a good area with afternoon shade.
Hi Justin and family, Question: Why buy two pigs of the same sex when you could have bred them and then you wouldn't need to keep buying two pigs every year. They will still clear the land and not cost you that much to feed.

Very clever! ‘My mood fluctuates with the fluctuations of the sprinkler’ I hear you for sure! You have so much patience and figured it out!

I really wanted to reach through my screen and just fix that sprinkler for you!
Ah, that's kind of you. I know you would if you could.
Justin I am going nuts not being able to show you how to adjust that sprinkler!
I love that the sheep had no cares with Teddy barking at her lol.
Looks like you need a round garden 😉

I feel you pain but applaud your patience!
Good job fixing the problem and watering the garden. Another thing, DANCING PARTY....how cute...💃💃💞
You don't really want to water the leaves on your tomatoes it will encourage Blight! The sheep are looking so great!!!
You just keep on teaching even if it doesn't apply to you (2" water if it's hot or dry) those of us in the hot and dry places are learning from you 😉♥️
I remember when I first read the instructions for a sprinkler head. All the adjustments blew my mind.

The deflector shield as you call it is used to make it go not as far and also spreads the water out more.

Water at the roots , not from the top :) hugs and love Justin ! That new sprinkler is cool!
Great video Justin
Lilly is gonna be a superstar
Square pegs, and round holes. Maybe you need to make round garden beds!
My and I really enjoy your channel.
Lilly Bo Peep!!! She's loved by sheep!

I love What you do
I water an inch a day. I'm 102 today with 8% humidity.
Could you put a link for the stainless steel dinnerware that you use please? Thank you!
I want to reach through the video and fix the sprinkler for you!!
Need a circle garden now 😄

Hi Justin we will be at HOA
Start planting in concentric circles.
Love the videos
Nice
How many chickens will you guys harvest for your family of 6? And what will you be doing with the sheep? Are they just there to help with the grass?
We eat 150 a year.
God bless you.
Just wondering for myself what size shell do you use to dispatch the pigs
Thanks
Slug
I can't believe that you've never used. One of these. Wow.
I know right. It's not totally necessary as we get 40" of rain per year, but it does up the production a good bit.

Little pigs have all the skimmed milk. Awesome. Taco Tuesday, hmmm, yumi.
Do people in your parts use drip irrigation?
Not us who deal with weeds with hoes ;)
why an overhead and not drip line to conserve water?

Yay I’m early!!!!!! I love y’all so much! Please reply!!!
Those sprinkler heads are really a pain! They work great when you finally get them fine tuned, but it can be a challenge to get to that point.
Hi
Circular beds at the radius of the reach of the sprinkler next? ;-)
hey, Justin, I hope harvesting going well
Is the mother earth news fair still going to happen at joel saltins and if so are there any tickets left and if so could you tell us in the next video
It's been postponed till 2021.
bill and ben the flower pot men. lol
Hi Justin and family, Question: Why buy two pigs of the same sex when you could have bred them and then you wouldn't need to keep buying two pigs every year. They will still clear the land and not cost you that much to feed.
Because we wanted to try different breeds before we settled on one.
You are going to need at least two sprinklers for that size garden
user's manual?
maybe more pressure would help
Wooohooooo 1st hi justin
I don't think it will take 2 hours. Remember your first hour was a different setting and not much water, second hour was heavier watering.
Circular gardens would be covered entirely by the sprinklers.
free the birds...wew
taco tuesday....crrrckkk
Get a second sprinkler.
It was eating a garter snake.
