What would you think of adding bait floats on the leader between two bobber stops. So if you had a 12 ft leader you could put it right up by the swivel and fish 12 ft deep or you can slide it halfway out and fish 6 ft deep without having to retie. Do you think it would work or wouldn't spook the fish?
Have you ever tried dying the shrimp you use for bait fishing from piers? Would the egg loop knot hold a shrimp to hook in fast moving water such as the St.Clair River in Port Huron, And how effective would that be? Have you tried it? Thank you guys!

Wow, great video. What is the key for summer steelhead in July and August? I think water temp and wind are the keys but what kind of wind should be good?
So you would have to reel in until the float n leader line goes down to the weight before setting the hook correct? So this set up is designed for the fish to pretty much swallow the hook?

I don’t believe Lake Huron has summer run fish, which is where this rig and shrimp works the best. You can still catch steel shrimp but I’d stick to spawn or alewives. Add a few shots to your leader if your bait won’t get down. We have a couple videos for pier salmon that explain our bottom rig. Tight lines!

It's the time of year for a good stamp of sea trout where I live and that's a method of floating a bait that's so simple yet perfect for keeping a bait high in the water without it drifting which is sometimes inconvenient when you want a bait held high in the water column so I'll have to try it definitely. Did you just leave the float to slide free with a leader on the swivel above and just try different lengths?
For my main line I’m running 10lb test, because someone who fishes steel head told me that was a good choice… but I see you run braided… am I still good to catch fish? Afraid it’s going to snap

I have an issue where when casting my leader is kinda stuck or wants to hangout way up on my mainline far from the bobber. Any one else? Any fixes?
What size and style hooks to do you like to run? Do you hook the shrimp in the head area (if they had heads) or center of body?
Size 4-8 octopus hooks. Can hook the shrimp anywhere 👍
How many pounds is the line where the hook is and how do you put it?
What size is the hook?
The line off the swivel is anywhere from 6 to 10 pound fluorocarbon. Any basic fishing knot will work. For hooks I run wrong size 6.
What’s a good main line? I got 15lb hi-vis mono because I also use this rod as my float setup. I noticed that I didn’t seem to pull much fish though. Should I downsize or switch colors?
Never used high vis main lines. Sure it’d be fine if you run a buffer. If not I’d stick with clear 15-20lb mono or braid
Great explanation of the rig! My only question is what type of rods power/ length are you using to cast that heavy of a weight.
Most rods 9ft and over have no problem casting them. Look for something 9-12ft with a 6-12 or 8-17lb rating. Thanks for watching!
How do you actually set the hook 🤔
By the time the rod goes down the fish is typically hooked. A good lift will do the trick
