might make my way out to the pier in holland, MI next week. Does anyone know if this is a good pier? I know ST joe pier down south a bit is good but havent heard anything about the holland one.
Im on the east side of the state( oscoda) can you catch steelhead in the summer time off the piers in that Area? I do well on the lake during the summer but I never hear of people catching steelhead off the pier in the summer. Great videos and good luck .
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 that makes sense. I caught alot of steelhead last year and most of them were in the top 10ft of the water column, even in 150ft of water they were mostly way up. Can't remember a year were they were up that high all summer. Good luck.
nice video!! I was over at holland this past weekend and the steelhead fisherman were sayin that were u guys are, u gotta get there at 3am or ya wont get a spot. Is that true?
Man that Collin guy really sucks😂
Embarrassing…
Summer steelhead river fishing tips/tricks vids are much needed this summer

Sweet ❤
Awesome video definitely some nice fish congrats
Preciate it!
Awesome trip, beautiful fish! What pound test do you use for mainline/casting, and for your leader on bait lines? Thanks, Barry
Thanks! 15lb mono or 25lb braid for mainline and 10lb fc sniper floro for lead
You always have really honest to goodness great content....You always deliver kick ass content 😃❤
Preciate that man. Thanks for always watching!
Your very welcome 🤙🤙❤

Thanks for watching! They’re all special
Caught two one day off south pier. 16.5 and 14.5 lbs. Awesome. Live alewifes back then.
Those are some good ones! Live alewives work very well some days
Is that the holland pier
Hey thanks for the vids. Can you tell us what size spoons you use? 1/2 oz?
1/2 - 3/4 seem to work best. Thanks for watching!
What type of spoons do you use??
KO wobblers or moonshine spoons. Cleos work too
What rod holders are y'all using to hold them to the pier?
Some homemade with PVC and some other welded metal ones
In this season what decoy or what way is more rewardable to fish salmon or steelhead on the day?
We cast spoons or use shrimp hooked under a bobber
Steelhead are the fastest freshwater fish on the planet.. not just the great lakes 👍
Awesome vid bro when you put those shrimp out there how deep did you set it?
4-15ft depending mainly on where you’re at on the pier!
Love the video, where about is this pier
might make my way out to the pier in holland, MI next week. Does anyone know if this is a good pier? I know ST joe pier down south a bit is good but havent heard anything about the holland one.
Always a chance!
I went out yesterday at south haven I didn’t get anything, have you ever been out to south haven, have you had any luck there? any tips?
All the piers fish about the same some better than other depending on the weather. Just gotta put in your time and pay attention to the details!
Can I ask what pier? And what action length etc rod? I'm mainly a bass guy but, want to expand. I'm in Midwest Michigan.
We use rods between 9-13ft medium-med light action. Braid or 15lb main line and a 6-10lb leader will do the job
All the piers into Lake Michigan are good
What pound line do you recommend for fishing the pier?
8-10 flouro leaders does the trick
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 ok thank you
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 and would a 7ft medium heavy fast action rod be good enough?
@@loganselleck5112 yup. Just about anything will work for the pier. We’ve used everything from small crappie rods to 13ft pin rods
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 ok sweet thank you
What kind of arrangement or decoy did you use?
Spoons and shrimp
@@sbsoutdooraction3055
Which hook number is most recommended?
Hey, I’m gonna be fishing off a pier for steelhead but was wondering what rod holders you guys use?
Just some old ones from a bait shack. Most will have something similar
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 Alright, thanks!
What pier and why not early in the morning?
Im on the east side of the state( oscoda) can you catch steelhead in the summer time off the piers in that Area? I do well on the lake during the summer but I never hear of people catching steelhead off the pier in the summer. Great videos and good luck .
I don’t believe Huron gets summer runs since Indiana stocks them. Thanks for watching!
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 that makes sense. I caught alot of steelhead last year and most of them were in the top 10ft of the water column, even in 150ft of water they were mostly way up. Can't remember a year were they were up that high all summer. Good luck.
I have to ask. Where is this? I live in Canada. I would love to try this some time.
Michigan!
Can you tell me where that location is on the lake?
Thanks from K-zoo! Which pier is that?
Looks like a blast! Are y’all throwing spoons under bobbers?
Thanks! Just shrimp was under bobbers spoons were casted
What’s the length on those rods you use for the pier? Look super fun on that light action🎣
Most are 6-12lb rates and 9-12ft
Collin loses a lot of steelhead in your videos. What spoon you catch him on?
Ya he’s awful.. lol it was a moonshine spoon
What pier is this?
What pier
What type of shrimp do u recommend and what size weight's
Meijer shrimp is the best, 2-4oz depending on conditions
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 cooked or uncooked
@@kaidenwalker1936 both work, cooked is better
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 ok thx
Could you recommend hook size and brand for shrimp
Raven size 6 specimen hooks and mejier cooked shrimp
Thank you I've been losing so many I'm 2 for 8 this year
nice video!! I was over at holland this past weekend and the steelhead fisherman were sayin that were u guys are, u gotta get there at 3am or ya wont get a spot. Is that true?
Not necessarily, we rarely ever have trouble getting a spot
alright, thanks!
has it been picking up?
Some good some bad!
What time if the year was this?
Summer
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 like what month lol
@@Ufccasual July I believe
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 dang ina sweet shirt in july
I think Ray Charles would have a better chance of landing one! Lol
🤣
can you guys go over your equipment
I see different things at times
Pretty much anything goes for the pier! They’re just old rods from my barn haha
Is the run over?
No
How good is steelhead fishing at night?
Hit or miss but can be good!
Love it, my favorite way also spoon feeding. My biggest was out of Michigan City sixteen pounder. That was in the early eighties lots of fun.
Not much better than a spoon eat!
Pier fishing on lake Mich is so iffy it doesn’t even matter if you go.
Better odds out there then on your couch
Not true
@@kevinaalberts9251and how’s that idiot
Mi?
Yup
