From this era of skaters, I prefer the US ice queen Carol Heiss. Carol uses her arms better, better body line, a more modern looking position. Carol won the Worlds five times in a row, 1956 through 1960. ruclips.net/video/jpKNkVpDORs/видео.html
I do not agree, but I do understand you very well. I remember from boyhood the four axles in a row Carol Heiss jumped in both directions in her performance. Fantastic! But you should also take notice of Sjoukje’s Olympic winning performance in Innsbruck 1964. ruclips.net/video/6lS6tohTgds/видео.html
@@SaraKessler-qj9kj ‘Uninspiring skating’??? What do you mean by ‘Blech’? If you want to say: ‘Sjoukje was a more full figured woman than Carol Heiss, I agree. She was an athletic skater, but who excelled at both figures and free skating many years. Her performance featured a huge double Axel, flying camel spins, flying sit spins and double toe loops. Did you hear the enthousiasm of the French commentator, when he saw her first jump: ‘Axel très haute, très très haute!’ This was the third of her five consecutive European titles (1960-1964) on a European Figure Skating Championship, this time in Geneva (1962). ‘Uninspiring skating’??? Sara, did you see Sjoukje Dijkstra’s performance at the Olympics in Innsbruck in 1964: ruclips.net/video/6lS6tohTgds/видео.html No, the jury was not mistaken then by giving her extremely high notes. Here you also can read the comment of Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean on her performance in Innsbruck: ‘Beautiful!’. Torvill & Dean were English ice dancers and former European, Olympic and World champions.
I remember in the early 60's how proud we were of Sjoukje Dijkstra!
That looks like quite a snazzy dress for the time!
Thank you for posting. I'd looked for ages BUT I must confess I didn't know how to spell her name. I much admired her when I was a young skater.
Modern ice figure skaters may have ballet lessons too to make the sport more attracktive but still none of them skates as easily as Sjoukje used to.
Дийкстра! Давно хотела посмотреть! Спасибо.
They don’t make hairspray like they used to.
Do women even use hair spray today?
What an unusual jump combo at 2:17! It looked like a reverse split jump-1Axel.
Shades of Karen Magnussen!

Да , мы тогда ТАК катались , и двойные были верхом мастерства . Но ещё была " школа ".
Интересно видеть судей и их оценки
Обязательные фигуры сколько % от многоборья составляли? 60? И сколько часов в день их накатывали.
