Bless your heart! I understand that feeling you get when you see those little monsters demolishing your hard work! Great video! I enjoyed the music as well 😊🎶
My first year gardening, I only put in a few potatoes, and got great results, without any pest damage. My second year, they found me. Year three, I tried diatomaceus earth, and after 3 days of watching them munching on my plants, being completely dusted with the stuff, and it did nothing, I resorted to picking them off by hand. I put my timer on for 1 hour, and counted 600 as the beeper went off. I'm done with potatoes.
Yes they are the worst! I've found the DE works best if applied before they appear, but it's not a guarantee. The other thing I've found helpful is moving or rotating where I plant them from year to year. But I agree, sometimes it's not worth the battle. Good luck this season 👍
It's hard but I managed to get rid of them and I had that many. Took a lot of work though. The first year they kill the whole crop. Last year we went out 2-3 times a day and got more than 100 every time for weeks. After a month it reduced to a few dozen and this year we got significantly less. Managed to find a few clutches early which helped and now I go a few days without find any. Early in the season I found 10-30 a day and now I barely have any. We're not planting many potatoes next year. We got a small number of potato bug resistant potatoes that we're going to perpetuate but the rest will be something else.
I'm fairly sure you've got it backwards about DT: it scratches up the carapaces of hard-bodied bugs and causes them to lose their moisture faster than they can recover it. It doesn't really work on soft-bodied bugs.
garlic spray is my grasshopper defense and also it helps with mold and blight i think? dont quote me... but use spinosid a and d it is a natural beneficial microbe that kills the potato bug and army worms and a lot of others too... i am just glad you did not recommend sevin like the other videos say lmao
I have a long grey bug on my potatoes..a good 1/2" or more long. These bugs are also on the swiss chard. Do you know what they are?....will neem oil kill them. Am looking to keep things organic. Thanks
I'm having to go through every day to kill them. Last year they destroyed the entire crop. I got around 200 today which is significantly less than I got on the first day I went out to kill them. I'm going out every day it's not raining and getting them. I'm finding a lot more adults now but significantly less larva which is good because the babies eat way more of my plants
Oh, no. I know they've eaten there fair share of mine that's for sure. It's definitely a battle, I think the earlier you can catch them the better, but still a battle sometimes lost. I'm sorry to hear that and I understand exactly how you feel when it comes to the battle with pests in the garden.
Not exactly. I does work well for soft bodied insects. It's not so effective on hardbodied insects. We only apply it topically, not down in the soil where 99% of the worms are. That's a great question though, and yes could be bad for some of the insects if not used correctly.
What is the "garlic" concoction you tried?

Sounds like maybe beneficial nematodes could work while they are underground.

It is a battle! It sounds like you're putting up a worthy fight. Nice job🤙
The music is awful. I was so glad when it quit. It then some better music started but still wish it would just stop so I can here the words.
Какие животные у вас его едят ? Leptinotarsa decemlineata natural enemies?
Could you maybe not make the music so loud? Can barely hear you when the music is on
Unfortunately it didn't work with me 😞

Left the video because the music is so annoying.
I don't remember where I heard/read it, but doesn't diatomaceous earth kill every thing? And a bad effect on Worms?

They’re destroying my gooseberries
Oh no! That's not good.
@@SimplisticFarms I think they’re false potato beetles, the eggs are orangey yellow and the adults are reddish orange on their underside.
