In today's video, I went tot he library for the first time as an adult! Joking, this is the first time I've made a video at the library as an adult. Libraries are literally my new favorite thing. I absolutely love going in with no idea of what I will read, pick out a book on the shelf and go for it. I’ve found some amazing books that way.
Who are you and what have you done with Ian?
I think the video was a success, because:
1. It was very entertaining as usual.
2. You started writing a story. That is so great! Now you can come back to it whenever inspiration hits. No need to put the bar so high when you are starting out. Just have fun with the process.
3. The one deep conversation was worth more than three superficial ones.
4. You did read a lot of the book even with this impossible challenge to skip 99 pages.
5. You were nervous to film but did it anyway. You probably give the beard more credit than it deserves as it is not the only thing grown over the years but also you as a person. You can always grow it back, but you look good either way.

Ian. You need to give yourself a break. Don't be ashamed that your planned big steps turned out to be smaller steps. You still moved forward. Your beard was indeed a majestic RIP but, maybe this is an opportunity for growth in having confidence even though you don't feel it. Your joy in reading made my TBR wayyyyy longer than when I first started watching. Keep it up you're doing great.
I’m a retired librarian and I still spend quite a lot of time there. Why not, it’s clean and quiet and cool and there’s LOTS of books! I get most of my reading material at the library, including the Friends of the Library book sales and Libby and Hoopla. There are two branches near my home and they each host book clubs - one fiction and the other non-fiction. We’re very blessed to have access to libraries.
I really enjoy the videos when you talk to strangers about their favorite books.
I lost my beard recently, also due to something stupid. I feel your pain and I understand feeling the confidence loss. But we are more than our beards my good sir! Love your channel and loved the video. Keep on keeping on man. 👊

This video couldn’t have been better timed; I just got my first library card as an adult this past weekend!! The unbridled power I feel now with all of these books at my disposal is unnerving 😂

I love the library. In my experience it's great for nonfiction, when I got into reading history books they cost more to buy than regular fiction, especially hardbacks. Turns out the library has them all and because they are not as popular as fiction they are almost always available. It's awesome looking at shelves and shelves of history books knowing I can literally walk out with any of them for free.
I lived up in Ogden for a year for work, made a few trips out to SLC specifically to visit the library. Definitely the best library I've been to.
Fr I recently went to the public library for the first time in years (my old library card expired in 2013 lolol) and it was game-changing.

Here’s an idea for you for a challenge jungle day.
Read a phantom novel , a Tarzan novel and another jungle adventure novel or pulp magazine reprint while out side maybe camping or just on a deck in location maybe you can make one of your 24 hour vlogs . Just a thought.
You may have thought it was a bust, but I loved it! You always make me laugh and get excited to read a great book.

Libraries have become like a Third Place, recently, for me. I get tons of Bible college work done and have been able to make my way slowly through Shadowmarch by Tad Williams. Great places to sit and focus or talk books with people!

I love popping to my local library, the atmosphere is so different which sounds weird but it also reminds me that others do actually read. (no friends or family do) An Idea for another video, you and Ashlynn choose a few books for each other to read, from the library, a week of reading library books take care guys x
Have you ever gone to a big "Friends of the library" booksale? HIGHLY recommend, if you're in the mood to treasure hunt through random books. You'll find books there that you'd probably never know existed otherwise!
Hey, man. Sometimes the beard gotta go and we have to start from square one for whatever reason that may be. A few weeks ago, I biffed my lineup so bad that I for real went completely clean-shaven for the first time in years. I've always rocked at least the stache but not this time. Confidence was at an all time recent low for a few but we're kinda back with it. My point is: it happens to the best of us, my friend. 🤘🏻

I've been to libraries many times, even as an adult, and I really don't like them very much. There are almost always too many kids running around (libraries are NOT places of "peace and quiet"!) and I always feel awkward just being there. I don't really like reading books very much anyway. The most interesting thing about libraries to me is their map and atlas collection (and their computers when I was a kid).
Laird Barron is awesome, check out his short story collections! Also there's a new Isiah Coltridge novella that came out recently

I loved your video! Gave me a laugh today that I needed. And I have a crime fiction series recommendation for you. It's the Cameron Winters mysteries by Andrew Klavan. The first one is 'When Christmas Comes' which is a prologue to the series. This introduced Cameron Winters in a great short story. The first full book is 'A Strange Habit of Mind' where you start getting his back story along with another great mystery. The fourth in the series comes out in October. I can't wait for the next one to come out. And, of course, any of Andrew Klavan's other books are excellent as well, both fiction and non-fiction. Check him out.

I think the atmosphere of a library is just different. Most people are there to get something done, so it probably felt more like you would "bother" them if you went up and filmed/talked with them. Maybe to make up for it you can do a "I ask 3 people at a coffee shop their book recommendation." or somewhere else that might be less confrontational. you definitely have more bravery than this socially awkward turtle.

I developed a rash (which I somehow got from petting my dog???), so I got rid of so as to be able to treat it🙈

great content ian! if your in a crime kick i recommend the kidd series by john sandford, have you read any of his? the first book is fools run. hes the author of the lucas davenport series and virgil flowers series if your unaware. those are some great crime fiction
