I sincerely believe that many of these "artists" learned their craft from people who actually lived in the time of civil rights, and now feel angry that they were not around to "have an impact" on real social change. In some wierd way they are trying to recreate that time and ultimately be seen as being on the same level as MLK... It's like someone who wants to bring back the Roman Republic just because they want to wear a toga and have marble statues made of themselves. But like the guy who wants to bring back the Roman Republic, they are just sad pale shadows clinging desperately to relevance. And their efforts are grotesque caricatures of someone else's past glories.
didn't he save the church by SWIMMING? So Johnson is a black super guy that just does all the work but isn't allowed to talk.....ummm what does that sound like?
Alexis Dupont SJWs destroy even the things they create. The heroes they make are just killed off as soon as they appear. If that isn't Narcissistic Nihilism, then I will not give a fuck.
Found this channel yesterday it pretty great. don’t really read comics more of a manga guy and this is one of the reason why, less chance of seeing this kind of comic
This story reminded me of my grandfather. He was the son of share croppers who moved from the midwest to Oregon because my grandfather, while white, was not allowed to go to white schools because his skin was still too dark. He got into college on a basketball scholarship but had to forego college because of the depression. He then tried to enlist in world war two and couldn't because he was too old. So he joined the national guard and spent the war as a guard at a Japanese internment camp. So you know my grandfather built a house with his own two hands because of course he damn well did. The construction materials he used? Salvaged from the Vanport flood. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanport,_Oregon Grandpa famously never had a single fuck to give.
I only have one question: He is superstrong, nd he can swim... how come he drown? Shouldn't he be strong enought to swin no matter the current? I'm just confused that's all.
There has to be a subtext there about black men and water but i'm not racist enough to get it. almost wish i knew some SJW so they could explain it to me.
Hey Just Some Guy can you please look at the manga Battle Angel Alita and its movie trailers and compare it to Carl Manvers and the captain marvel trailer.
I use 2 have 'white guilt' in junior high because life was not easy 4 me at house or school. Then one day crying over shit I thought Wait y should I feel bad 4 shit I didnt do. Omg life was great after that. The shit off my shoulders.
Huh, sounds like a weird, bare bones story. Almost has a small tint of a poor man's remake of Icon...but I can't really say if that's true since I have yet to read Icon yet I just know of the character.
i dont know if you read the comment section, but ill make a small request, can you review a comic named "Hanzo" its made by the artist "henrytheartistiam" from ig, just curious if its worth the buy, thank you and also new sub here!!!
Everyone not from the South talks about the South like we're a bunch of old-school Racists that haven't changed since Little Rock and Selma. Birmingham is 79% black. If we were what they say we were, white people couldn't leave their houses. Even John Oliver was cracking jokes about how schools had more racist-toned policies these days everywhere BUT the South. From what I can see, this is a gorgeous book that I might actually fork out money to check out (even though putting money into Mark Waid's pocket is about the last thing I want to do right now), but also to see if I can maybe see an overarching point that you don't. Because just from this commentary, all I can think is, "But why?" I really do get the sense from modern media that non-southerners truly believe that all rightists and centrists are fundamentally racist. But the real test here is this: let's just say I actually WAS exactly what they seem to think I am (solely because I was born, raised, and still live in Birmingham, AL). Let's say I really was a white supremacist. And let's say I actually picked up this book. What effect are they going for?? "Oh, crap, today I _just_ learned that black men have larger dongs...my worldview must be totally mistaken!"?! For whom was this written?
If you want a plot you have to wait for the sequel that takes place about 9 1/2 months later when there is a sudden baby boom among the white woman and the white men realize Captain Mandingo true impact.
Holy crap. When you said ‘captain Mandingo’ I about fell out of my fucking chair. 😂 Also, there used to be a stereotype that said black people couldn’t or didn’t like to swim. Since that’s how they chose to kill captain Mandingo is that not also racist?
I get the feeling that this type of story is in some indie comic from 20 years ago but done a lot better. Seriously, these guys are trying to reach that Vertigo level of 'mature' comics but just don't know how to do it. They FORCE everything which is part of the problem and I might also blame part of it on them not being too good with writing themes like this as a whole. Some could argue that Waid was good at action oriented comics but in a story like this, where the tone has to be lowered down and things are viewed in a much more serious light due to the subject matter, he can't let go of the exaggeration that is KING to comics found at Marvel and DC. So when he applies that same amount of exaggeration to a story like this, it comes off as HILARIOUS at best and, welp, RACIST as worst. I don't know why they're trying to damn hard to win over 'Black comic' readers or whatever the fuck he's trying to do. Yes, looking back at history teaches us not to make the same mistakes again but as I said with female comic writers, do they honestly think that this is the type of material Black readers want? Nothing but endless stories based on slavery and racism? I really want to know because it seems that every woke hack makes stories with Black protags about this. They either make up worlds where it's apparently still the 60s but we're somehow in 2018 or even further into the future, re-written accounts of 'what if there were super heroes during the US Slave era?' and so on and so forth. We just can't get a good Black super hero without these asshole trying in the Civil Rights movement, BLM, or slavery into them. To them that's ALL a Black hero, a Black reader, a Black person in general is; WE'RE STILL SLAVES and they're the magical White person that can set us free. No wonder a lot of Black folks, myself include, read manga. And just for the record Guy, Kwanzer is NOT named after the holiday. KnanzaA is spelled with two As. His name, with one A, is the currency used in Angola. So his name is more or less money and compared to the US dollar, a Kwanza is worth shit.
“Strange Fruit” You’d better be DAMN well sure your writing is good before you use a title that is literally taken straight from a poem/song about lynchings. It’s insulting when someone uses metaphors and titles that are from a better, more meaningful piece of media and use it just for clout and to draw eyes.
Unfortunately, Black Superman's Kryptonite was water (from what I've seen, not while he was lifting something) and he died from it. A black man... that can't swim. Totally not coincidental.
I LOVED watching Mark Waid EAT IT from people telling him just how racist he was.
Do you have a vid on this, id love to see that.
"Strange Fruit" is a great way to describe Mark Waid.
"All these white men dressed in their gradmammy's sheets..." I haven't laughed so hard in a good long time. Thank you sir.
Odd. Alien can swim and then drowns. Was it a robot that ran out of battery?
We had that in boot camp.
They got extra pool time.
Gamed that system.
I sincerely believe that many of these "artists" learned their craft from people who actually lived in the time of civil rights, and now feel angry that they were not around to "have an impact" on real social change.

It's called "Selma envy".
This needs more likes
2:13 So by that description: Waid is like reverse Uncle Ruckus ^^?
An uncle
Sukcur
Waid letting folks down with his writing again like normal.
I'm subscribing, I don't even read comics but I just love watching you break down a story and throw shade.
The artwork looks fantastic but damn you’re right on mark waid not knowing how to write a good story with black people.
They say "write what you know" lol
Mark Waid sounds more these days like a reverse Uncle Ruckus.
The minute you said “Captain Mandingo” I heard nothing else, because I was laughing so hard. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
didn't he save the church by SWIMMING? So Johnson is a black super guy that just does all the work but isn't allowed to talk.....ummm what does that sound like?
Captain Mandingo that says it all, love it JSG!
>swims while pulling an entire church
>drowns because he cant swim
....when will we be free from this suffering?
So. They made a super power character to be important to the story...only to drown? Talk about a waste of creative effort.
Alexis Dupont SJWs destroy even the things they create. The heroes they make are just killed off as soon as they appear. If that isn't Narcissistic Nihilism, then I will not give a fuck.
show me a hero and i will write you a tragedy, in this case a tragic end.
Found this channel yesterday it pretty great. don’t really read comics more of a manga guy and this is one of the reason why, less chance of seeing this kind of comic
People like Waid need to play Mafia 3. Fantastic story. Awesome lead character. Dealt with racism well, crime, the Klan, etc.
And they could've gotten it free last month on Playstation Plus.
4:36 LOL! and that's a racial stereotype!
Reupload I guess. Thanks for video.
6:47 I'm as white as a fishes' belly and I got nothin'.
I have to agree the art is amazing
Nah, you got it in one shot. LOL ;'D I really needed a good laugh, man. Great vid. On point.
Funniest thing I've seen all day.
"And the little dog, too!" Hilarious.
Mark Waid? Someone needs to sue that clown.
I can't breathe. You killed me in this video. So funny
Stephen King can't write blacks or women either. dude is pure cringe.
It's a weakness of David Cage too.
read the sleeping beauties novel he co-wrote... 1000 page period joke pretending to be a women power story. it isn't.

Grandpa famously never had a single fuck to give.
Just cut out the speech bubbles and you got yourself a lovely picture book
"Cedric, you better start crackin some jokes" lmao
You are a master of the art of damnation by faint praise. Bravo.
Wait wasn't captain Mandingo swimming earlier how come he drowned
Lack of melanin must be his kryptonite.
He did lose the ability to swim after swimming while dragging a building, after all.
I was trying so hard, I was trying real hard... but as soon as you said, "Captain Mandingo" I lost my shit.
I literally lose it when you talk about all his abilities only to then tell us he died from drowning. That's too funny.
That story went from 1 to 100 in a single page
I only have one question: He is superstrong, nd he can swim... how come he drown? Shouldn't he be strong enought to swin no matter the current? I'm just confused that's all.
Lost it at Captain Mandingo 😂😂
You went all out on this my dude. This shits blacker than coal.
Wait, can he or can he not swim?
yes.
May you please use it in a sentence?
Vigil and Tea, whatever they need for the moment.
Jesus Christ that art is so sick!
I definitively check this out.
Thoughtful summary.
Mark Waid needs to learn to love himself.
There has to be a subtext there about black men and water but i'm not racist enough to get it. almost wish i knew some SJW so they could explain it to me.
WE...WUZ...ALIENS
This book is worth buying just for the art.
He can't swim, I'm fucking dyin'.
When Johnson died to drowning I couldn't stop laughing because in a white guilt comic the black man still couldn't swim.....
Hey Just Some Guy can you please look at the manga Battle Angel Alita and its movie trailers and compare it to Carl Manvers and the captain marvel trailer.
I use 2 have 'white guilt' in junior high because life was not easy 4 me at house or school. Then one day crying over shit I thought

Omg life was great after that. The shit off my shoulders.
Can't swim? I'm done!
You ever see the play or movie, A Soldier's Story.
I love you videos, but do you think you can do a video on evergreen college?
LOWKe yi Why? That’s not a comic book.
Johnson? Really? This is Icon written by somebody as therapy.
So that hit piece at The Guardian was right about Mark.
So johnson is a big tool?
My white ass choked on my milk when I heard black superman STILL COULDN'T SWIM?!?!?!
Mark, Marky Moo. Honey... even David Duke not that racist.
White man's water is too much for Black Superman (?)
Huh, sounds like a weird, bare bones story. Almost has a small tint of a poor man's remake of Icon...but I can't really say if that's true since I have yet to read Icon yet I just know of the character.
Bruh.......................this is ICON: Year One Milestone should sue.
This story could have been made by 4chan as a parody of the modern comics industry but ofc not this shit is legit wtf
i dont know if you read the comment section, but ill make a small request, can you review a comic named "Hanzo" its made by the artist "henrytheartistiam" from ig, just curious if its worth the buy, thank you and also new sub here!!!

"...and then he drowns."
Fuckin' hell, I'm dying. And this is by an "anti"-racist.
Wow, now this is a rival to Alex Ross. To bad this kind of artist aren't used on great project's with great characters. Like the New Gods or something
Guess the stereotypes about black people and swimming transcends planetary boundaries
If you want a plot you have to wait for the sequel that takes place about 9 1/2 months later when there is a sudden baby boom among the white woman and the white men realize Captain Mandingo true impact.
Captain Mandingo. Lol
Sad seems like this video doesn't have much play....
His drawings remind me of Coca Cola ads
To my untrained eye the art looks like copics.
Holy crap. When you said ‘captain Mandingo’ I about fell out of my fucking chair. 😂
Also, there used to be a stereotype that said black people couldn’t or didn’t like to swim. Since that’s how they chose to kill captain Mandingo is that not also racist?
Story sucks, but you have a point when you say the art is amazing. I don't think I've seen a better looking comic.
I honestly thought that this was a rip-off of the character Icon.
You look cooler than Robin. It's probably weird for me to say, but I'm saying anyway.
A black man that can't swim? How on Earth did Mark Waid miss that racist stereotype.
I don t know it doesn t seem bad, like at all,i don t seem really racist,it seem more the contest in which the story is set
I get the feeling that this type of story is in some indie comic from 20 years ago but done a lot better.

Could you talk about trans metropolitan once? It is my favourite graphic novel of all time!
I actually haven't read it. It's on my very long list, though.
I can't like it because it's at 911...
Who are the epitome of racism and are in places of power in tv cinema, vid games and comics? The sj clowns who else.
“Strange Fruit”
You’d better be DAMN well sure your writing is good before you use a title that is literally taken straight from a poem/song about lynchings. It’s insulting when someone uses metaphors and titles that are from a better, more meaningful piece of media and use it just for clout and to draw eyes.
That's one racist doggy

A black man... that can't swim. Totally not coincidental.
'SCRIBED
I'm in doubt about this book being racist despite this video. Maybe I should read it to be sure.
Isn't... isn't it a stereotype that black people can't swim?
I know if _I_ wrote a black superhero who died by drowning, I'd be called rayciss for it.
The art looked good. Reminds me of Alex Ross.
He is Trying to be an SJW, but he is nothing but fodder to them.
Instead of reading this garbage ill just keeo listening to billie holiday strange fruit
