  • See how seamless Autodesk Alias creates complex surface shapes from an Industrial Design perspective and how engineering can make use of that data in Autodesk Inventor. Surfaces in Autodesk Alias are associative to geometry existing in Autodesk Inventor. Change the shape in Alias and Inventor has the ability to update the model even after features have been added!

Create lines and sweep or extrude them, cut, trim, and form.
Most commands are accessed with mouse movements mixed with right, left and center mouse clicks.

Hello Andy, I have a question about this process that you've shown in the video. Here in Brazil, Autodesk Inventor is not so popular as Solidworks. I just wanna know if this workflow is possible using Solidworks?
I'm a Autodesk Alias user, for me is the best design software, but the industry doesn't understand .wire files, therefore I have to send more detailed files, but it has to be in a Solidworks file.
    Is it possible?

    Hi Andy,
I have only just started using Inventor but I used Creo Parametric.
Creo had the surface modelling feature that you used in Alias does Inventor have this too?

Sketch controls are also helpful when working with surface geometry in Inventor...

    Better than Catia/SolidWorks Workflow.

after all it's the Autodesk's own workflow, catia and solidworks are engineering softwares. in our company we often build the surface in Alias and export to Catia with IGS format. i once try the same process but to solidworks, then some of the surfaces lost in solidworks. so anyway alias->inventor is the best solution in the future.
