It will probably be the same case as Nilo, where a character initially seems limited, but as more options appear, the better it becomes.

yeah, xianyun is like nilou as well as kokomi. The more game mechanics and characters introduced the better they are. Nilou got stronger with more dendro characters especially with baizhu and yaoyao while kokomi got stronger also with the introduction of dendro and furina's debut

@@nostalgicfears iirc they come at c0 with all cons unlocked, so you can test them with anycons you want, this doesn't get to your actual account when the release happens. The artifacts are the same as the content creators normal account, they basically clone the account for testing than delete the clone when the character releases
I think you're absolutely right where her full potential is still missing for now and more plunge attack-specific character in the future will definitely want her and increase her value. Honestly, *spoiler alert* since we now know that Natlan is the land of dragons, I like to think Natlan characters will have flight and plunge as a new and possibly meta mechanic since I hope we do actually have flying dragon characters around
Well, gaming made for plunging atk too but casually hidden in wushu moves.
I feel like she's future proof in the same sense that she buffs one specific thing and will only get better as more characters come out for that one specific thing
in other words: she's not worth pull for and every youtuber is hyping her.
She already strong rn and will get much stonger if hoyo decide make more plunge dps.

I mean my vape Diluc does like 350k right now and still has more room for improvement, same as my Cloud Retainer that hasn't been optimized yet sooooo... I mean, my Zhongli also does 150k vape crits with Mare Hunter because of Furina being in the core team. Bud, she's not awful. I was one doom posting her, and she's niche for sure, but she ain't garbage. She also enables characters like Chongers and Navia to have another way of playing. @@cheesecake4648
Tbh I personally find the whole "she only works with Xiao at her full potential" (as you said) as a misconception tbh.
Some of her teams are straight improvement for some characters, look at Diluc, HuTao C0, Gaming, hell even some catalyst gets so much benefits from her (as a heizou main she's such a blessing, considering I dont have to deal with his weak NA anymore lmao).
On top of that, she creats a new type of style that, even if not significantly better, still seems fun to use. I cant wait to plunge with Yae and Wrio for example (for the latter, I even heard that a C0 she might be one of his best teammates).
Not to mention that the core Furina XianYun Bennett makes every single character in the game strong enough to clear the abyss.
Is it fun? I dont know. Thats up to you and I cant really argue when it comes to personal preferences, but I cant deny that so far im very satisfied with her tbh.
Definitely not as strong as Kazuha, Nahida and Furina for example, but she still finds her place in the current meta.
You missed his point, only xiao and gaming can make use of her entire kit.
Simply being an improvement and having synergy with numerous characters doesn’t mean that they can use her full potential which is what he’s expressing.

Plus, I get your point but she benefits more characters than you think. I'm not saying she's as versatile as Kazuha of course, he's on another level.
But considering how easy the game is, and that her kit is perfectly fine (I'd say kinda broken *only* with some characters), there's no reason to doompost that much.
Wait: doesn't Heizou want to NA to build his stacks? I know it's based on swirls, but wouldn't it still be better to do something like Heizou, C6 Faruzan, Furina, and Bennett?
@marcusaurelius4777 I play him with Furina, Faruzan and XianYun.
With Furina in the team, enemies are basically always affected by hydro, which means I can get his stacks pretty fast.
I usually tend to plunge with Him right after I use his fully charge E anyways (so basically when his ability is on cooldown).
Instead of spamming his very weak NA (idk why they gave him such low multipliers) I just plunge with him, which is definitely better DPS wise. On average, I get 40~45k of plunges.
Not only is fun, but it's actually one of his best teams lmao.

@@NerdishGeekish Diluc’s plunge multiplier is even higher than Gaming’s skill buffed plunge attack multipler. And he can do them with more ease than Gaming, who needs to wait for his lion to return. All in all he is the most buffed unit with Xianyun except maybe Xiao
with right supports, he will dish out some nice numbers. pretty good for a standard 5*

I was thinking plunge Diluc too. Ive got a 91.5 / 198 ratio on him, so 100% crit on plunges would be so awesome. Abyss buffs with crit are also super nice.
Anemo units are the most fun characters in the game especially for overworld and the fact that xianyun cam make each character jump is cool
70 burst cost for the high jumping when everything dies in 1 hit because overworld mobs are made of paper makes it unviable in the overworld because the burst is almost never up and she's not good enough for most units in abyss.

@@Donzacuceron lets be fair, there are so many things in the game that can kill everything you need. Hell neuvillete is already a one man army. CR gives you a jump that not that many other characters have.
I’m a mostly-f2p Diluc main. I only ever spent in Genshin to get his skin. Last patch, I pulled for Navia’s weapon to give it to him. It was the first time I ever pulled on the weapon banner. Got Mistsplitter and Skyward Pride instead
Then today I decided to pull for Xianyun, not only becuse I like her personality, but also for him. Got C4 Keqing instead…

As a casual player, I'm pulling just because having a triple jump looks fun
Candace is one of the biggest buffed characters by Xianyun. It's crazy what she can achieve with Vape Plunging Attacks.
You're forgetting that you can use external source to provide elemental infusion on plunging attacks, not just units that have them inherently in their kit.
Specifically C6 Bennett will be the meta option, but also you can use Chongyun, Candace, etc. to open up reaction multiplier damage on plunges for wider range of the cast.
I think you undersold the improvement that plunging actually gives to characters like Diluc and C0 Hu Tao.
It's not just niche and fun, it's an actual DPS increase over their original teams.
So while I agree her potential is in the future, I also think she's immediately impactful now.
I think many teams that use Jean now, will be able to find a way to incorporate minimal plunge attacks with Xinyuan to raise their DPS ceiling, if only slightly.
Instead of spending those primos needed to get a C0 Xianyun, why not just save up for pulling C1 Neuvillette or C2 Furina that are guaranteed to improve your acc by a fk ton and are long lasting units that can literally be played until the game dies
Don’t mention hydro immune or something like that, if Neuvillette gets impacted negatively, no other hydro units will survive too, which is a dumb decision to be made by Hoyo when they design abyss, at most only one side will have hydro immune, Neuvillette can still go other side, so Hoyo can’t really fk him over like how they did with Venti
@episode4882 because not everyone wants to get constellations. Some people will prefer getting a new character that actually enables new gameplay while also being an improvement, even if it's small.
My point wasn't that Xianyun is a god tier support. But if someone wants to improve their Diluc or make Hu Tao easier to play, she helps with that.
Don't just carelessly pitch constellations as the ultimate meta value, because not everyone wants to pull multiple copies of a character just for bigger numbers.

Honestly even with c1 hutao, c0 n2cjp is so much more fun and seeing the numbers makes my brain happy
My main priority when pulling for characters has always been getting new ways to play, so when I got Xianyun in one 10-pull today, I was happy, even if I'm not sure how I'll use her yet
When I had the chance for Raiden (on a previous rerun, not the recent one), I pulled because having essentially permanent Electro application simply by occasionally using a skill was an interesting idea, and Kiki didn't exist yet
I pulled for Kokomi because someone told me she was the best healer in the game and I didn't have many characters back then, and also her skill doing damage and applying Hydro would be an interesting combo with Raiden, Xiangling, and Sucrose, where you can basically do summons and then let the summons fight for you :v
I pulled for Kuki because she was the first Electro healer, and that alone was unique enough for me to want her, though I was quite happy to learn that when Dendro was added to the game, she works really well with it
I pulled for Ayaka because she's fantastic for traveling long-distance over water, but then after a while Furina was added, who's even better for that, in addition to all the other things she can do
I pulled for Yelan because I figured it'd be nice to have two Xingqius, then, once I learned how fast her skill makes her go, I bought a bunch of Welkins to just barely get her to C1 before her banner ended, and she's now one of my most used characters for her speed, Hydro application, ease of hunting with her exploding arrows, and battery for the team outside of combat when I'm hunting, since she has Favonius Warbow
I was happy to get Charlotte because I was excited to have the first 4-star Cryo Catalyst user, and the fact she lets you use you Kamera in domains is also very unique
And most recently, I pulled for Navia and for Xianyun, because their gameplay uniqueness is self-explanatory
Shes a pass for me. I dont find using plunging attacks fun in the least bit. Also, if thats something i want to do, i have Venti. Because while you dont get the bonuses for plunging associate with Xianyun.
I do get to plunge the same number of times without needing a burst and i get CC. Ill also get to enjoy any bonuses for plunging that the Abyss gives.
I indeed pulled for her, both because I'm a chronic anemo lover and a fan of open back outfits lol. It helps that Cloud Retainer has been such a funny and charismatic character since the beginning. I've heard she's a good support for Diluc (my favourite standard 5*) so yeah, no way I was gonna pass on her.
My problem with a plunging specialist is currently we don’t have enough characters that want to activate plung. Ya you can say the same when nilou came out but because it was a reaction that ever hydro and dendro unit so the more came out the better it be came.
It's fine to just weave the plunges in between instead of a focus on pogo sticking. Especially if you're already using jump cancels.

I think people are undervaluing how universal Xianyun is. The only characters that can't make use of her are Bow Users. Everyone else has a way to get some sort of infusion and benefit from Xianyun. And since Plunge Talent Values are mostly universal between all characters, everyone gets pretty much the same level of benefit. Want Chongyun to become a Reverse Melt Carry? Xianyun enables that. Want a new way to play Keqing Aggravate? Throw in Xianyun and weave in Plunge Attacks into your combo. Want to make Hu Tao an actually fun character? Xianyun Double Hydro, use your jump cancel as a chance to Plunge. Just because a kit doesn't focus on Plunge Attacks doesn't mean they can't be used. Obviously, some units will work better than others for Xianyun, but she works well with anyone that can get any kind of infusion.
Wow crazy, but you can always just save those primos for pulling Xianyun to get a C1 Neuvillette or C2 Furina that are guaranteed to improve your acc by a fk ton

Hoyoverse really need to fix her Skill + Plunge targeting. It needs to prioritize higher HP enemies instead of the Closest in terms of distance.
Never thought about the terrain but this would be a great opportunity for MHY to make things interesting by making domains/overworld have more objects in them to use for attacks
If I’m not mistaken, the damage buff to plunges (+200% of her attack) is added to the base damage, and can further be mulitiplied. So, the 9k damage can crit, and it can be increased by things like elemental damage and other multipliers. Xiao’s plunge damage is normally around 400% with a bit over 2k attack. Adding a 200% * 4k would nearly be doubling the damage of every plunge. It just means you want to build less attack with xiao, so anemo goblet and MC artifacts become more important (normally you can get away with atk goblet and vermillion is generally better).
But! I don’t have her, and I may be wrong in assuming the 9k damage can be freely multiplied. It’s just worth noting that characters with their own unique multipliers (like xiao burst) can potentially elevate that 9k damage in unique ways.
My dude completely forgot that Qiqi exists... Heals over time have been in the game me since the start. She healing ticks on her skill without any hit or placement requirement

Strong or not, all I know is that Xiao is gonna be crying in the corner now that any unit (including the MOST BROKEN DPSes) can capitalize on plunging attacks ☠️

A few corrections : to my knowledge, Dragonstrike uses hitlag, not actual hitbox shape. Also Kazuha's hold E can absolutely get him to high plunge heights. :)
Plunge always interesting but so far, only too few unit have utilized it so well. Doing plunging with catalyst have satisfying feels. But we can't do that when fighting until recently xianyun made everyone can casually do plunging atk.
That's what i look for in characters - unlock new play styles and synergies with other characters.
She's been extremely fun to play. I had my doubts because of her limited overworked vertical overworld movements, but she's proven to be super strong.

Lmao there are many characters who synergize with plunging attacks, you don't plunge spam like a bozo. Just insert them to your combos, she will make a big difference
It pains me that a character I liked so much in design and lore happens to be a sidegrade of my main but I hope I like the newer characters that sinergize with her are of my liking so I can run each one in one side of the abyss

Unless I somehow missed it in the video, you missed how much of an upgrade she is for Hu Tao. She renders Hu Tao C1 obsolete because now jump cancelling is a huge damage boost for her.

Judging by the controversies going on I don't think anything in the game is worth spending that much money into it

I found her to be one of the best supports i couldve gotten.
Her healing is great,her buffs are great and the plunge playstyle has fixed issues for some of my characters like my c0 hutao who now can keep pace with my other teams for example.
My currently most used team for plunge are with my c2 raiden who manages 100k plunges,more consistently then her normals due to xianyuns crit buff and it works nicely with her ca during burst to cancel it out faster so a ca to plunge combo can easily do about 200k dmg.
Aswell that im currently testing certain dendro teams with it and how they like the lack of icd on plunges.
Quicken teams love it,next i want to test how hydro or dendro apply in hyperbloom/burgeon teams will do with plunges
I think a new arena is in order, something with ledges, ramps and whatnot like monster hunter, final destination no items gets boring when played on repeat

I can’t pull for her. Used up everything I had on Shogun and Chevy. Now I’m guaranteed, and I’m more interested in Chiori. And even if I wanted her, I definitely don’t have the funds for her weapon. Furthermore I have a ton of characters I need to build up properly. Her story quest might change my mind about that though. As for the Wiafu, she’s not my type. Ganyu, Ayaka, Kokomi and Jean are. All of whom I now have.
I pulled for her just for diluc, I'll just wait and see how she's gonna do, after i build her.
Xianyun's buff is just absurdly synergistic with furina and xiao. Since its a flat buff, it benefits from dmg% & crit. Furina and xiao both have insane dmg% (75% on furina and 95% on xiao from their bursts). Xiao also has high cr through ascension and furina allows for marechaussee usage which means even more crit. With the right stats u can have xianyun buff double the dmg of every xiao plunge ;-;.
if you use jade spear you'd risk overcapping CR with marechaussee though
I was wondering about her synergies with furina.
Jean healing is front loaded so you get ~200 fanfare instantly. And then she doesn’t heal enough overtime to make up for furina Hp consumption (she only heals the active character) so when you start the next rotation everyone is at half Hp and you can frontload again those 200 fanfare
But with Xianyun a lot of the healing is over time, so by the end of the rotation everyone has relatively high HP and you can’t frontload much of the healing

Hu Tao main here. I play double hydro Hu Tao with furina and yelan. With Bennett, my CA hits for 130k, and with xianyun, my CA only hits for 100k, but I plunge for 200k, as well as have a new play style. Im having a lot of fun with her and I don't regret pulling for her.
I don't see how anyone could say she doesn't have dedicated units. A 5* and a 4* that both directly focus on plunging attacks with bursts that last about as long as Xianyun's.
What more plunge do you need on a DPS than those two?
Man it sucks to be a new player. I really want to pair her with hutao and furina but I'll have to skip her because i need nahida and kazuha (rumored to come in 4.5) 😢
I'm in the same boat but as she's a new unit she's likely to rerun before the 4.0 patches are done! It's a much smarter strategy in the long run to go for the "oldie but goodie" busted units like Nahida and Kazuha now and pick Xianyun up later in her rerun cause she'll come back MUCH sooner👌

@@Nvcho_ i've played since release and i do not have nahida because dendro removes any sort of challenge imo, i'd rather clear abyss with a thoughtout team and preparation than nahida who will just beat abyss with anyone by standing still

But since you played from the start, you can afford not using nahida bc by the time it came, you had 2 years of characters and team building.... i started playing on 4.0, and this current abyss was my first ever 36* i been doing 33* for the last like 2 months, and you know what was the thing that got me over the hump? Yes, i tried hyperbloom for the first time (dendro mc and yaoyao) I'm not a "casual" player (you can call me a meta slave idc) so i need to build the strongest account i can early so i can clear the abyss constantly. And then i can pull for whoever i want
I got lucky and pulled her on accident and now my C4 Diluc is finally seeing the light of day. He went from being a unit I absolutely hated to now being a really fun and strong character to play.
I'm really not a big fan of Hoyoverse's strategy of "Oh, this character isn't that great now, but might be in future... maybe". They should release characters that synergize well at the same time or close to each other instead of having niche characters that can't be judged fully on release
And GaMing should have been a 5 Star sword dps. His gameplay is too fun to be relegated to 4 star claymore
I got Xiao ages ago by accident, but I never really liked using him, so he's been gathering dust on my account. Now that Gaming came out I figured I'd give plunge attacking another try, and while pulling for him I also ended up winning Xianyun 50/50 and C5 Faruzan. I also have Furina already, so the game is clearly telling me to give Xiao another chance. So I try to pull for C6 Faruzan, but I get 4 Cons for gaming instead. Game, what do you want from me?!

she a bit gimmicky, but its nice to have infusions like bennett's and chongyun's matter a bit more when she's added into teams. i've just been making everyone i usually struggle to have a solid team with into cryo/pyro plunge dps lol

But a constant Anemo tick for VV with simultaneous decent party-wide healing? That sounds pretty good.
what do you mean by "constant VV tick"? VV doesn't get triggered offield
@@michael_bones he probably means using xianyun as a driver like kokomi in some teams but since xianyun is anemo catalyst like sucrose, she can keep triggering vv shred while sustaining with her healing

How is it stupid and gimmicky? Its making use of a Mechanic that has been in the game since launch and has been very neglected. Its very straightforward, just use your skill and swap to carry for big damage, like any other Support. Kind of reminds me of Furina alittle, just much more niche. Supports a couple of specific units very well and gives New strength for Old and outdates ones. Doesnt Sound very stupid or gimmicky to me honestly

It seems you haven't tried her with any elemental infusers that's why you felt the lack of characters that benefit from her plunge mechanic.
Those characters’ team without Xianyun is way better than forcing them to plunge
Most melee and catalyst characters can benefit from her. Xianyun Furina and Benny C6 core gives tons of buff you can manage to beat abyss with some characters. Then, even if they're not their best team it still open up a different way to play your characters. I'm going to use her as a Sub-Dps/Healer for my Furina-team. She should be able to use her own Plunging-attack buff. So I will also have a relatively consistent way to apply an emo with her.

I caved haven't topped up in over 2 years. Strict Welkin/BP. This banner made me fomo for Faruzan so I could turn my Wanderer into a beast. I personally don't like the tactic of making units feel underwhelming below c6. Took 106 wishes a missed 50/50 to Jean but I got there. Also now have c4 Gaming (soon to be c5). Now I have tough decisions do I just go for the last Gaming con and settle for Xianyun or save and go for Chiori for mono Geo Upgrades
I badly want her but i can't risk not getting chiori, until rerun xianyun, cause those 13 pulls we getting even with 65 exploration pulls is still enough for just one five star character, I don't have guarantee

I'm not sure to be happy or not i accidentally pulled on the banner and lost 50/50 to dehya so i build pittt and got xianyun in 30 pulls i did 1 10 pull on the weapon banner and got her weapon... but i genuinly didn't want/mean to pull her 😭😭
Update i ended up doing another 10 pull on weapon cuz i wanted to get nahidas i ended up getting xianyungs weapon twice and now i had activated the path i had to go to hatd pitty just to get nahidas weapon(i still didn't want any of the weapon nor the charzcter but i have no primos for arlechino now 😭😭😭)

My plunge attack Yoimiya is doing more damage than a fully built vape Yoimiya so yes I think Xianyun is pretty decent as she makes plunge bow characters viable.
As far as party wide continuous healing: Noelle's normals when her shield is up, Barbara's normals while her skill is up, and Kokomi while her burst is up all heal the party on hit. But Xianyun IS the first to do it without the need for other inputs.

I will say this: I've used Navia, Diluc, Vape Zhongli (150k vape crits which is insane on him lol), and plan to use Lynette as well. Basically, Xianyun does for the Xianyun, Bennett C6, Furina core what Hyperbloom does for electro hydro and dendro. It's the new "National style" core team where you can slot in whatever for the fourth and carry that unit into viability. This means that even Dehya, yes, Dehya...these words are leaving my mouth: is now viable because of Xianyun. Note, I said "viable" not "meta". She enables exploiting a no ICD powerful attack that has AoE on it, which makes most units, especially Catalysts, pretty potent. It's a "cheaper way to power" so to speak, not truly cheap, but you get my idea: It's not energy intensive once you have the core team setup. She enables a new set of combos like a Hu Tao CA into a plunge, Navia E into plunge plunge E plunge plunge and so forth...it's interesting.
Gaming, Diluc, and Xiao benefit the most from this, but other characters like Wrio, can also benefit. It's weird, but it works for a good amount of units like Chongyun. Diluc gained a HUGE amount of power from this: Iv'e seen whale Dilucs vape for like 500k PER plunge which is insanity. I've seen more reasonable numbers at around 300k which is absurd. Diluc literally has a stronger plunge than Xiao. It's hilarious.
I think hoyo will release more 4 stars that can use plunging attacks, like gaming, to try to boost Xianyunn higher. I do think this plunging attack thing can help with characters who might be able to spam those and do more damage. Idk she's very niche

You clearly underevaluated the buff provided by her C2: if her wording is consistent with what we have so far, the 18k dmg will be added to the BASE damage of a plunge, which means it benefits from the user's dmg bonus and crit stats (not xianyun's), and vape/melt reactions. If you assume 46% elemental damage from a goblet, a reasonable 75/150 crit ratio, that's already a 60k dmg buff instead of 18k. And it only go higher with more appropriate supports (Furina, Kazuha, reactions, etc...)
I gave her Desert Pavilion and made her a DPS. She's nor cracked but she's enjoyable
I wanna try her out on Hu Tao, if she’s an upgrade over Jean on C2 Furina/C2 Yelan/C2 Hu Tao, if Hu Tao can plunge well, I’ll pull for her

Instant C1 for me. Xianyun and Yelan makes traversing the overworld a breeze

Mostly, I just don’t enjoy plunge attacking. Especially on mobile, it feels quite clunky and unpolished. Similarly to Nilou, it’s a niche I didn’t need fulfilled.
The atk buff seems very interesting to me, im pretty sure it applies pre crit, so a ceit dmg of 100% would probably double the effect of the dmg boost. Also, the fact that plunging atks have no icd is extremely interesting in a reactions meta

Haha, was pulling on the banner for my last two constellations for c6 Farazun (Wonderer main). Lost a 50/50 to Jean along the way (106 wishes). However the stars aligned and gifted me a c4 Gaming. Soon to be c5 from the Lantern selector. I'm 56 pity and am like should I just go for the last constellation for Gaming. Will likely get Xianyun along the way to finally unlock my c3 Diluc. Or should I just save my pity and go for Chiori to level up my Itto. Argh very hard decisions.

I guess I will skip her this time around, since I'm not exactly high on gems. Saving for Wanderer, Neuvillette and Arlecchino.

I use her for exploration and that's it. Hopefully I can get her C1 for that extra charge on skill and FLY HIGHER
