    Hey Jake, I wanted to thank you for this series. I was gifted a 1969 Ct90, and I found your channel and this series. It is such good information your videos are REAL experience not the magic of you tube. My favorite line of all this series is "NO FOREGINER THIS DOES NOT FEEL LIKE THE FIRST TIME...." I've felt that way a few times while fixing my bike (the Lazarus project). mine is almost identical to your Elsa, frozen piston, stuck vales, wiring harness is a mess. I can say 3 weeks after I acquired this bike I have it RUNNING!!! Thank you very much for your AMAZING VIDEO series. You rock man.

    Your videos have helped me a lot with putting my 1980 C90 together. I paid $80 Aussie dollars for my one and it is in similar condition to yours. Im going for a complete rebuild with paint. Cant wait to see yours going.

    I have enjoyed your series since the beginning. Having recently acquired a 1975 CT-90 myself, I am especially interested in your project. Fortunately, my CT-90 actually runs, but watching your videos will make it easier for me to repair things when it doesn't. Thanks for sharing.

    Because of your videos on ct90, i was able to rebuild the 1968 ct90 engine with limited tools, and did the valve adj by myself!

    Man this video brings back so many memories. On old Honda bikes l usually set my valves, on the intake: 2 thousand's of an inch and 4 thousands of and inch and on the points I think I would set the gap at 12 thousands of and inch and 12 degrees before TDC. One time I rebuilt the engine on my old Honda Superhawk. Well I didn't know it at the time but I installed the camshaft, one tooth off. Amazingly the poor thing ran but barely, backfiring through the carburetors and exhaust. I was so pissed because I had to yank the engine from the frame and take apart the top end again. It was tough medicine for a very young motorcycle mechanic.

    My dad told me to make a side cover gasket out of a file box folder once and I did and it actually worked great! I will say I used a thin layer of rtv sealant on top as well but it did work w no leaks

    Get the new episode out ASAP! Great work, so interesting to watch, I would love to see you make some sort of crazy, motorbike engine powered buggy; that's if the right opportunity arises of course, great fun to watch, keep up the good work.

    I just rebuilt my 1975 CT90 motor. While I think you do a good job describing most things I cringe about using old gaskets and not chasing all the threads on every bolt hole to ensure no problems.

    Been working on an 81 ct110 just watched this video again for the points and timing tips did that again and now it starts and runs rough. Will order a new carb soon

    These are amazing videos, btw. I take a very similar approach to my mechanical repairs - I think there is too much hype on throwing parts and the like at things. I really appreciate you reconditioning so much of the original. What's the point of knowing how to do any of this if everything you do relies on having to order everything new?
    To me, it is infinitely more rewarding to run things that 'shouldn't' run.
    Can't wait to see the final product.

    Hey you're really smart with all this stuff, i have a 1977 atc90, it shifts and engages all the way through low range, but when i put it in high it shifts all the way through but doesn't engage

    Next project don't be cheap and buy new gasket...the scilicone is not the solution for evry part....respect the HONDA'S

    Gasket maker is fine anywhere but on the side covers. Honda made these bikes with very specific tolerances, so you need to use Honda's gaskets in order for it to shift correctly. So that's a no no.
    Other than that, everything is brilliant. Good work.

    Powder graphite works great for me and my bike projects, I've been known to tare down many of carbs to full bike s and make them run without Google or a parts store

    While I do enjoy your videos quite a lot, what does make me wonder is when when you are 80-90% aways from full disassembly, why you don't go all the way and soak all the parts in a strong cleaner like carburetor cleaner? Yes it would cost money but could be used for many rebuilds.

    Hi Jake
    Since you and your son are way more knowledgeable then me I have a quick question . I have 62 Trail 55 and 65 Trail 90 and both sitting cause I can't get a spark, on Trail 90 since it has many coils by the flywheels and if they are fine when I turned the crank shouldn't I get a "test light" turn on from the black or the yellow wires even nothing else is connected like Condenser and points?

      I am not sure I understand exactly but to test the coil you would have to put your voltmeter, ohmmeter, or test light to each end of it. If you haven't, try to get your hands on a wire diagram so you know which wires to probe. Good luck!

    I know you've already done all this, but as a professional auto mechanic with 38 years experience, I wouldn't even consider not replacing all gaskets with new ones. It's just not that expensive. And many gaskets are precision cut for such things such as oil passages. Also the thickness is part of the engines design. I have made home made gaskets, but only out of dire necessity, when no new gaskets were available everywhere. I also saw a couple of other things that bothered me. First, in the previous video, I did not see any valve guide seals. Does this engine not use them? If not what keeps the oil from leaking past the valve stems? Second, I would have used a Dremel with a reinforced cutoff/grinding wheel to deburr those valve covers, and the proper socket (not Chinese) to tighten them. I admit to using Harbor Freight tools, but not when it comes to anything that actually touches a fastener, like sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. I use Snap On tools. Everybody has their favorite brand, but get a high dollar name brand. NEVER use pliers or an adjustable wrench on a fastener unless you intend to replace it. And I would have never used RTV in place of a base gasket. You likely plugged up that oil passage. You saw how that stuff squeezes out when you tighten the nuts/bolts down. I understand doing stuff on a budget, but when building an engine, there are some places where you just don't cut corners. I would have also gotten the proper size hone for that cylinder. They are not expensive. Those vertical gouges are going to cause the engine to burn oil, because they give the oil a way to get past the rings.

    At 11 minutes, there is a single bolt on the outside of the case. I have a 71 CT90 and that bolt disappeared. For the life of me I don't what it's for or called, or where to get one if I did. Any help?

      If you're talking about the bolt on the side of the cylinder, it holds a roller for the cam chain. google 14615-035-010

    Micthell was a documented gang member and was previously arrested before running a chop shop. Mitchell deserves the Darwin Award for sleeping in a stolen car with an air rifle between his legs. Yes, all police departments should continue to improve in shoot and don't shoot training. The cop who shot Mitchell did what he was trained to do at the police academy. Being that the incident was in a public supermarket parking lot there could have been more urgency for a tactical response where no public members got shot by a stray bullet. When the police order you to stay still with weapons drawn, it is a good idea to stay still. Mitchell did not deserve to die for his stupid mistake or by being a car thief, but his fate was also by his own doing.
