Perfect "how to" video. Very easy to understand, explained very well in common/no jargon language, and was not rushed!!!!!! I didn't have to go back and keep rewatching parts of it because you allowed pauses in-between explanations for me to process the info, followed by very good real world examples. Thank you, now I get to go out and crash my new drone.
I have to give credit where credit is due. Your video was the most helpful with the Holy Stone drone. I've had this thing for about 2 years and every attempt I made to fly it failed me. That is until I started from scratch, watched your video, and was able to fly my drone for the first time. What a great video. Thank you.
Thanks a lot for this great video. I was seriously doubting my ability to get all this information from the manual and I'm grateful that you did such an outstanding job of making it easy for me to understand.
I just got a Holy Stone 720e (the “e” designates that it is equipped with electronic camera stabilization) and have not yet flown it. This video is exactly what I needed before taking off into the wild blue yonder! I’ve been flying R/C airplanes for years, but an actual quadcopter is new to me. Thank you for posting this!
Greetings from Vancouver Island, and thanks for doing this tutorial. 3 years later, it is still super helpful and was a speed course in getting me and my new 720e, out of the box and flying in no time with your 720e also an excellent video for the newbie. I hope you both have continued adventures and if you're rolling down from Alaska, consider Vancouver Island. Reach out!
Hi Rick, So happy you liked the video. As to Vancouver Island, we loved the little bit we saw when we spent a couple of days in Victoria on our way up to Alaska. What a beautiful place to live!
THank you for all the DETAILS!!! in this great video! I wathed alot of video's on these Drones! your the only one that actually showed the address and site for the FAA registration!!! i appreciate that! now im ready to fly my HS-720 Drone!!!!!!!!
You are the only one mentioned that this drone should register and mark on drone. Very good advice. Thanks for showing 7s right thing. Hope to see your trip videos.
What very straight forward and easy tutorial, was just what I was looking for, as a complete beginner myself, it's great the way you explain how this drone works, and the main functions to get flying, my HS720 arrived yesterday, cannot wait to try it out. You really sound just like Clint Eastwood and are probably as cool 😎
I’m glad you liked the video, and thanks for the kind reference to Clint Eastwood. Other than being a curmudgeon, however, I’m probably more like Columbo than Dirty Harry… but you did make my day!
I see this video was posted a while ago but wanted to thank you for a very good, down to earth video about using the controller for your drone. I have a drone on order and although not the same brand, I am sure it will be close. I had been looking for something like this for a while. Thanks Again. Tom
What a fun & educational video! I got the HS510 which is a little smaller, so you don't have to register it with the FAA. THANKS for your share. I'm going to take mine out for the first time now! :)
Wonderful video, answered all the questions in the back of my mind about my first drone (HS720) haven't even taken the plastic wrap off the box but watched your entire video first. Great narration, you two sound like you're having fun with it which is all I intend to do. Thank you!
What a great video and I have watched a lot before buying this drone but the weather has been to bad for me to fly yet. Can't wait and thanks for the video. Hope you and your wife have a lot of fun road trips enjoying the drone
Great video! I’ve been looking at this drone as a second drone due to the follow feature. I did notice the jerkiness in your video as well as the props a few times. Not sure I like that but can probably live with it. I’m also looking at another HS drone that is under the 250gr weight so I do not have to register with big brother. Thank you for your great review.

Hello David, my Christmas present is a Holly Stone 510. Not too dissimilar from your 720. I scoured RUclips for know how too video. I looked at least at several dozens before I stumbled onto yours. Everything I wanted to know was right there. So I big thank you to you for doing such a great job on explaining all the functions. Now that I've depleted both batteries I'll have to wait a bit longer to go out and implement your instructions. One last thing have you gotten around solving the jerkiness on the follow module. Thanks!!
Thank you for an excellent video. I flew r/c gliders for years so the reverse stick when flying toward me is not a problem. We have not had decent weather since Christmas. Rumor has it that the quarter inch of ice we got last night should melt giving me a chance to fly in a couple days. Meanwhile I'm learning by flying a HS420 palm sized drone in the house. The Boston Terriers love it.
just found your channel great vid. hope you have had a lot of fun with your drone. I've just got into drone flying but weather in the uk is not as good as where you are.
I tried flying HS720 in my house. I lost control, crashed and it was stuck about half throttle upside down and would not turn off. I then tried to pick it up and got about fifty small cuts on my fingers, but managed to pick it up. I ended up having to pull the battery while trying to hold it down with slippery bloody fingers. It was a good experience and my friends had a good laugh.

Pretty cool . I m charging some new hs175d batteries and I think they’re charging nuts taking a couple hours so far . I can’t tell if it’s a slow blink or fast blink but it’s supposed to turn solid green when fully charged . It’s plugged into an Xbox but I read if it doesn’t charge to use an apple cube ?
The 175D batteries take about 2.5 hours to recharge, but that's only when using a 2 amp USB charger. Not sure what the Xbox provides, but it may only be 1.2 amps. The Apple cube may be better, but I don't know its output either. I'd say that even with a low output charger, the batteries ought to charge in 4 hours.

@@JustALittleFurther Yes,it's more expensive, but mine was just under$300.I haven't flown it yet because,I am a bedridden hemiplegic with only one hand due to a stroke a few years ago.Fortunately,it's a big hand,so I can manipulate both joysticks with that one hand..I should add,I can't work both joysticks at the same time.As you learned, modern, stabilized Gp s drones, basically fly themselves. You've got o watch out though, those trees will swat you out of the sky.Good luck, and have fun with your new toy.

Nice video! I'm getting ready to order a similar model HS720E. It's been a little over a year since you posted this, are you enjoying your drone? Pro's? Con's?
Question? Is your drone footage from the app or sd card because according to the manual they have different video quality. The better being from the sd card.?
The two apps I use are Ophelia GPS, which controls the drone’s advanced features, and B4UFly, which helps determine whether you’re in a location that permits flying a drone.
I haven’t tried it, but I think it will save video footage on both. If it’s anything like what I see on my iPhone, however, the video recorded on your smartphone will be pretty choppy.
This drone has dangerous issues with control. I followed all of the directions to set the calibrations by spinning the drone, I synced it to my wifi, checked the connections and the satellites, and all rest. On it's first flight it went nuts right after take off and slammed into the trees across the street, but luckily hit the grass and took the hit well. I was then able to fly it for a few days well. Included are shots from Central Park in Huntington Beach, California to prove I learned how to fly it without issue. The drone pulled the same stunt a few days later, but I was able to luckily force it down and it was alright on the second uncontrolled flight. Well, today I took it down to the beach at PCH in Huntington Beach, CA. I did all of the calibrations and syncing, it showed 17 satellites, and full connection. I took it off and then when I tried to make it elevate it shot up about 70 feet, banked hard towards PCH and went full blast across the street (that sucked, I was 400 yards away and blasted into some palm trees across PCH and hit the Condos. Where it landed, I do not know after an hour search. I hope someone from the condos calls off the phone number I wrote on it. I am glad it didn't hurt someone or damage someone's car. I can't recommend this drone at all with a dangerous issue like that, which also costs you the entire purchase price of the drone. Is anyone in the market for the controller? It's only been used about a dozen times. =(
@@JustALittleFurther They actually did help me out. They are shipping me a new drone, which is amazing CS to me. So, I will see how the new drone performs.
Update 7-12-2020 *** Thanks to Selina Xu, my confidence has been restored in Holy Stone *** She contacted me on FB about my unhappiness that a drone that I had only flown maybe 10 times wouldn't response to the controller. Good choice on the HS720E. I really like mine, but the new model with image stability is even better. Thanks for the feedback!
Question? Is your drone footage from the app or sd card because according to the manual they have different video quality. The better being from the sd card.?
It’s from the sd card. The card records much better video than the app.
Nice video; I keeping it closer to me, as I am a very new birder; lol:
Thank you!
👍😄
What was the drone apps name in the video? Please and thank you
The two apps I use are Ophelia GPS, which controls the drone’s advanced features, and B4UFly, which helps determine whether you’re in a location that permits flying a drone.
Must calibrate Gyro right after compass calibration. Pull sticks down and to the left.
Hmmm... I didn’t have to do this. Are you sure this is necessary?
Swellpro do great waterproof drones for the sea & boats 😀
Can you tell me if I hit the record Button on the smartphone only it will only save video footage to my phone and not on my sd card?
I haven’t tried it, but I think it will save video footage on both. If it’s anything like what I see on my iPhone, however, the video recorded on your smartphone will be pretty choppy.
I asked this question because I have the holy stone hs720e .
very nice video
Just got one and watched your vid, and bingo! Easy... thank you
Glad you liked it. Happy flying!
I cannot find the remote ID SN on the this drone? Where is it?
I’m not sure. Best bet is to contact Holystone customer service.
Whats the required app for this?
I use the manufacturer’s app, Ophelia. Another helpful one is B4UFly, which tells you where it’s okay to fly.
Do you have problems with losing the signal from the App?
I haven’t had a problem losing the signal. I never let the drone get too far away or out of my line of sight, however.
Thanks you so much!
Glad you liked it... thanks for the feedback!
This drone has dangerous issues with control. I followed all of the
directions to set the calibrations by spinning the drone, I synced it to
my wifi, checked the connections and the satellites, and all rest. On
it's first flight it went nuts right after take off and slammed into the
trees across the street, but luckily hit the grass and took the hit
well. I was then able to fly it for a few days well. Included are
shots from Central Park in Huntington Beach, California to prove I
learned how to fly it without issue. The drone pulled the same stunt a
few days later, but I was able to luckily force it down and it was
alright on the second uncontrolled flight. Well, today I took it down
to the beach at PCH in Huntington Beach, CA. I did all of the
calibrations and syncing, it showed 17 satellites, and full connection.
I took it off and then when I tried to make it elevate it shot up about
70 feet, banked hard towards PCH and went full blast across the street
(that sucked, I was 400 yards away and blasted into some palm trees
across PCH and hit the Condos. Where it landed, I do not know after an
hour search. I hope someone from the condos calls off the phone number I
wrote on it. I am glad it didn't hurt someone or damage someone's car.
I can't recommend this drone at all with a dangerous issue like that,
which also costs you the entire purchase price of the drone. Is anyone
in the market for the controller? It's only been used about a dozen
times. =(
Wow - not a good experience. I hope Holystone CS can help out. I must have flown mine at least 20 times now and it's behaved just fine every time.
@@JustALittleFurther They actually did help me out. They are shipping me a new drone, which is amazing CS to me. So, I will see how the new drone performs.
Update 7-12-2020
*** Thanks to Selina Xu, my confidence has been restored in Holy Stone ***
She contacted me on FB about my unhappiness that a drone that I had only flown maybe 10 times wouldn't response to the controller. She expedited a NEW drone from Amazon which included everything and also upgraded it to 4K for Free! Thanks for excellent customer support!
Good video. Pity about rout as opposed to route (root).
Ha - good one! Marcie calls me on that one as well. Guess my regional roots are showing. In my defense, in the US, either pronunciation (root or raut - like about) is acceptable.
