Double sided tapes can be sticky...pun intended. X-fasten is hands down the best I've used for woodworking applications. Insane sticking power, relatively easy to pry apart (I hang the tape roll on a 5-in-1 that I sometimes use to pry things apart), and by and large residue free. I'm not sure what base material is used, but it doesn't tear easily (if at all). My main areas of use are router templates, scroll saw stack sawing and tacking pieces together for sawing and sanding perfect duplicates. Love this stuff, and very reasonably priced for the capability and time saved.
It’s already making a huge difference in the way I’m getting things done! Love it! I can’t believe I’m just now figuring out how valuable it is in the shop!
Looked on Amazon and saw that x-fasten makes a “regular” white double sided tape. Says “residue free.” Wonder if it’s a bit less aggressive? Half the price too.
I looked at that too… might have to try it, but it looks a lot like the same stuff… not sure why they would differentiate it - so more investigation yet to come.
I use carpet tape to hold material on my CNC router. It works very well for that, so I assume it would work well in less demanding applications as well
I've tried various double-stick tapes and always get annoyed trying to pull the backing off. So lately I've been using the blue tape method, but with super glue. Put the glue on one side, spray the other with accelerant. (If you haven't used accelerant, it causes super glue to harden instantly.) So you hold the two pieces together for a second or two and you're done. No slip, ever. Knock or twist sideways to make the tape let go. Next best thing to double sided blue tape.
This stuff is gummy-sticky. It will certainly stick to the suede side of leather probably a lot like contact cement… if I were to use it for that purpose, I would only apply it to either the stitch seam or the opposite side. If you used it on the entire handle, you wouldn’t be able to reposition the leather very easy without probably having to start over.
Love that opening shot!
That’s life in my shop… 😝

Thanks for the tip. Just got the xFasten tape works a lot better then blue tape and hot glue and my tapering jigand I can see a lot of uses for it
I’m already using it routinely in the garage. A great find!

I'm doing my thickness taper with a planer so I went with this recommendation but I'll order the cheaper stuff and see if works just as well
Believe have carpet tape somewhere around here. Assuming I can find, maybe will work similarly. Thanks for tip!
Let me know if it does… double sided blue tape would be perfect..!

3M is missing a huge opportunity!!! We need double sided blue tape!
How would this work for wrapping on leather handles? And will the suede side bond to it?

@@meadowlarkadventuregear Thanks!
@@meadowlarkadventuregear I was thinking of the wrap style grip. Thin piece of leather, no stitching. But it might be a problem if I can't reposition
Wish I saw this before I bought the glue gun. But can't have enough tools anyway.
Oh man..! lol! I feel ya -I think I’m now the proud owner of a lifetime supply of hot glue sticks… 😂

@@yahmanml it’s good stuff!!!
@@meadowlarkadventuregear I’m definitely going to try this.
