i have never come back from a salon without getting unwanted advice to get rebonding/ keratin/ hair spa. i have naturally frizzy curly hair and i love it like it is. Growing up i have had people hair shame me and i feel like with time i have come to accept how it is and i take pride in keeping it and loving it natural!
My hair is similar to yours.I went to a salon once , the person who was blow drying my hair outrightly said "I was given this client because the manager is still holding a grudge against me, no can blow dry this hair".I was 22 years old back then and was so embarrassed that I had smoothening done to my hair. Such a well thought video Sherry!!
ugh I'm so sorry that that happened to you! In my experience, almost all of the salons I've ever visited and given a try have a few such shitty people who think that it's their birthright to be offering opinions and advice that is unsolicited. P.S- I have frizzy hair too and I have been having a hard time with my self-esteem because the last time I went to get a haircut, the guy was trying to sell cysteine treatment like my life depended on it. Sucks!
Oh have gone through this every time I visit a salon. I have scanty and grey hair due to hereditary or hormonal reasons or its natural I don't know but I have accepted the fact but ppl around or salons they make you feel so blah! Really why we get into this of pleasing ppl. I m so glad you spoke about this its relatable ❤️
Amazing that you spoke on this topic. I remember going to salons and they looking at my hair dropping names of treatments with so much disappointment. I love my wavy 2a curls but they always made me feel inadequate till I told them otherwise. It's a stylist who advised me to stop straightening and embrace my curls . Still my mom tells me its messy occasionally....
I was already trying to not be bothered about the parlor people giving advice on my hair and this video makes me so much more confident. Thank you for this!!
Sorry for the long rant.( I don't really comment on RUclips videos) My hair has been a huge insecurity since I was 18. I already had thin and fine hair but I have PCOS and it caused my hair to thin out a lot especially in the front. I didn't even care at first or notice at first because I had a lot on my plate but people kept pointing it out. The salons I went kept on saying I can't do that to your hair or I can't give you bangs because you don't have much hair or maybe because you are on the 'healthier' side(as in fat) you can't have short hair. The quarantine kind of helped me because I said f it I am gonna cut my own bangs the way I want. Though my hair has gotten better and I have kind of accepted it... I still have a long way to go to on the road of self love. Listening to you really made me happy. Stay your amazing self Sherry.
Hi Sherry. Thanks for putting this up. I didn't realize I needed to hear this so bad. We are constantly up for fixing something in us whether hair or skin instead of owning what's natural.
I don’t think it’s sheer coincidence but I just looked up RUclips after straightening my hair because I found it to be so unmanageable. Since the past few days I was contemplating whether or not to get a smoothening done because I’m about to start my internship soon and my naturally wavy frizzy hair are considered to be untidy and unprofessional. But on the other hand I always liked the way my hair curls up and adds volume. After watching this video, everything’s become clearer! I’m gonna own my hair! ✨
I think in today's world it's a gift to still have hair on your head! Be it curly, straight, wavy whatever! I have the same hair texture as yours and was always dissed for frizz but post covid hair loss taught me I should just be glad to have hair while so many people struggle with chronic hair loss.
This is something which is needed to adress by more influencers. The thing is that most of Indian have naturally frizzy and wavy hair. Its high time we should accept it rather than taming it down using coconut oil (because that's the memory of mine from childhood because of my curly hair).Kudos to you Sherry, you always give me more reasons to love you more ❤️
My hair’s almost completely straight, silky, and goes all the way down to where my thighs start. But still every time I go to a salon the stylists try to sell different treatments to me or shame me for my hair texture. You really can’t win with them. I would only like to tell my younger self and any other girls, that we have agency, and these ppl are sales representatives who get a commission off of exploiting our vulnerabilities. Nothing against them because it’s their job to try to sell but I wish ppl would be kinder. But that’s something we have no control over. What we can do is empower each other so that we can identify when someone is giving advice that might help us vs when they’re trying to sell you something, or just being mean to feel good about themself. Hence I really appreciate this video Sherry! Sharing this with all my friends right now!
OMG sherry! Thank you thank you 🙏🏻 for being the OG yet again, for talking about something no one else is, for normalizing real normal things!! This is coming from someone with a curly frizzy hair who has faced so much hair hate that I started hating my original hair so bad… I would straighten it a zillion times over…to now trying to accept and love my naturally dry frizzy hair😊 Thank you for this🙌🏼
Your hair is nice !! But What is more nice is who you are as a person, and the kind of content you put out One of the most enriching things about watching your videos is that it never makes one feel negative or complexed Thank you for doing that and making this world a better place ❤️
Hi!! I might be wrong, but my grandmother has had similar hair for as long as I can remember and not long ago I noticed that she actually has really pretty curls that she’s been brushing out which in turn makes it look like it’s frizzy. So there could be a possibility that your hair’s curly too!
Couldn't agree more 🥰😍 I have semicurly thick frizzy hair, and I have tried following curly girl method ,but it is a struggle because it is too consuming ! Am going to accept my natural frizz ! Lots of love 💘
I also have super frizzy hair.....I am still trying to accept it as it is and this video is super helpful and empowering. LOVE YOU!!! AND YOU HAVE AMAZING HAIR TEXTURE :)
Sherry you are a true unapologetic gem! It's so satisfying to see someone so original and true to their own self. You inspire young and old to just be happy. Thank You for this lovely video. More love and power to you❤💜💕
Ohhhhh God... thank you for making this video. I always loved my wavy frizzy hair and now I have got more confidence since I am not the only one who is subjected to unwanted and irrelevant advice/comment from others.
Thank you Sherry... People need to hear this... I have frizzy hair and people always tell me 'oh get a new haircut', 'get it treated'... Well guess what people, I DON'T CARE
Ouch! This hit home, Sherry! Every time I step out / go to work, I feel the need to iron to look “presentable”. You surely gave me food for thought! Thank you 💕
Omg! The compliment that I’ve always got for my hair has also been, oh your hair is so thick, lol. Love this video Sherry! Frizzy hair is a texture and idk why ppl don’t get it! But thank you for putting it out there!
Great video. It’s insane how many conditions are put on us and we are conditioned a certain without even realising it. Pun unintended. 😊 i was also a 90’s kid who straightened my hair and had so much hair fall due to the harsh chemicals. Now in my 40s i have learnt to accept me as me.
I feel so glad to have watched this video Sherry! I don't know why some people judge and want you live by the norms it's just sad. I'm happy that you speak about it on your platforms. I really appreciate your authenticity. Lots of love❤
This is the kinda video the world of beauty/hair care industry need at the moment ❤️ we all should embrace ourselves as a whole with our own hair, body type , colour and so on ! 🙏 Sherry you are ✨💕
This video is all about my hair. I used to straighten my hair always but over the years I started accepting it. Now I don't worry what others think about my hair. This video is needed.
💜ed your rant /pep-talk. keep it going 👍. permanent straightening of 6m ruined my hair follicles in pulling and tugging, destroyed the volume of my hair 😭
Smoothening, straightening and all those false hair beauty standards are again a trap set by all these shampoo selling and salon industries to again capitalise on our insecurities. Very important message to all of us. We have all been there. So relatable. Even curly hair was considered not great for so long. Especially during school days.. 90's kids know that.
Agree agree agree to every word you said. Feeling apologetic, hesitant to enter a salon, to all those people who stare and give their opinions for the umpteenth time that yes my hair is dry, damaged and unmanageable...and that your hair is so unacceptable! It felt like a crime..this is unfair and it has to stop! Right now..Next time, someone says it, I'm gonna lose it...but thank you Sherry for making this video..you saying it will help share this msg with all those who just say it and not realise how it bothers people and stays inside your head. Time to stop this!! Please be kind and if you can't, please don't say anything. 🙏
I fall under semi curly hair, frizzy, thin (which people call unhealthy). Even if someone by chance compliments my hair, I don't take it and always say, ah you are joking. This was a nice eye opener. I already do every possible thing to keep it maintained (just natural healthy habits). So I should accept it's my hair and I am happy the way it is.. good one sherry❤️
Wow! Thank you for touching on this subject. For years trimming my hear used to be an ordeal where the stylist would reluctantly touch my hair. One has even told my hair jadu ( broom). But of course I did not resort to any treatment for her sake. I quietly changed to another stylist. The one I visit now handles my hair with more respect.
Me too belong to this frizzy thick hair family since childhood.. but due to stress and hormonal imbalance they've become more dry, damage, grey, hairfall n unmanageable. Just need a good haircut soon. I never treated my hair either. So happy with what I have.
Much needed video!! #muchneededrealtalk :) I’ve struggled with frizzy hair all my life too. (plus thin hair) Hence the wavy/frizzy hair gives it texture and actually makes it look really beautiful. I just recently noticed that!! Way to go girl! And plus I think, our hair is the softest when it’s not treated or straightened- because they strip the natural oils off of the hair. Lots of Love, Sim.
Hey sherry, I have frizzy, dry and curly hair and I made a video about this along the same lines last year. Same incidents i've been through cannot relate more. People need to be mindful of what they say about hair and skin and even more so we need to start embracing our natural true form. much love.
100 ℅ agree with you Sherry. We have the perception that frizzy hair texture means they are dirty or Not combed or shabby .. Straight hair is always considered to be good or presentable. We need to normalise #frizzyhair texture thank you for bringing up this topic❤ #Frizzyhairdontcare
Thanks sherry! This video needs to be highlighted on a bigger scale. Naturally frizzy hair is sadly called "unprofessional" and "dishevelled" and often it's because majority of the women do iron their hair/ apply serums to get the lustre etc etc, the small lot who wishes to embrace their natural texture is seen as odd one out. Have the courage to look different and original.
Hi Sherry!! Thanks for the talk. This is what makes you different from others..the real talk..addressing something that everyone feels its normal but its not. And that's the reason we all love you. Please make more videos like that. Thank you. Lots of love❤❤❤❤
Love you for making this video Sherry! I had Straight hair as a kid and as I grew up it's texture started to change. It started getting curly and FRIZZY. And even I would straighten my hair with an iron as a teen until my parents surprised me with a straightener one day (so much conditioning). It took me so many years to love, embrace and take care of my curls in their natural state. I relate to everything that you said in the video.. I have been telling most of these things to myself for a while now. But I'm glad you said it to such a larger audience. We need to talk about this more and normalise it. ❤
Hi Sherry, you are one of those very few you tubers who is doing good work in the space of lifestyle and fashion. Your content addresses important issues and is not jus limited to meaningless hauls constantly. Thank you for these videos!
Hey, have you tried the curly girl method? Just the products? Leave ins, gels, not brushing? I think dry hair is like dry skin right? When your skin goes dry, you moisturize, why should you be different with your hair? My hair was like yours all through my life and I obviously straightened it too #CurLyHairProblems :/ But since i started the curly hair method, I just realized that I've been doing it wrong the whole time. The industry for the longest time didn't bother about different textured hair ever. but now there's so much going on. I think there's merit in you looking into that. Unless of course you already tried this and its doesn't work, and this is just how your hair is. Then fuck yea girl, you do you. You're amazing for talking about this anyway!
I was looking to see if anyone mentioned this and finally I found one. @sherryshroff it is absolutely right whatever you mentioned in your video and it isn't about negating what u just said. But for the sake of "hair health" you can try the curly hair method, because my hair is the same as yours, not as thick but the frizz has always been there. But ever since I tried the curly hair method it's changed !! My waves hold better. It is again absolutely your choice to do so or not. Like u said, proper curls or proper straight hair is not a necessity.
Hi Sherry, thank you so much for putting this out. I have been shamed for my textured, curly hair ever since I remember. I wish I had this video when I was younger. Lots of love🥰
I too have dry frizzy hair.. And thanks for talking about this. Everyone talks about skin complexion discrimination etc etc.. But there are so many other varities of discrimination !
I've always liked your hair, right from the 'Gotta do' videos with ur long tresses to how it is now. It somehow made me feel you were like all of us. You've always rocked all cuts! Great real talk ❤
Such an important conversation and noone realises how much it affects us women EVERY single day. I used to go crazy before every meeting, every zoom call trying to tame the frizz, position the camera so the hair looks more "presentable". Now I just show up frizz et al. Even remember someone calling me a malnourished child because the hair was frizzy and more brown than black! Hah!
I never noticed the frizz. Your hair looks great! I have perfectly curly hair but all my life I have been mocked, people stuck things or put the pen inside my dense hair and make fun of it. I really struggled straightening my hair.
Great tpoic and address... Its kinda awareness.. Make such about skin.. Parlorwalis often shame skin type, aging, spots... Make us feel embarrassed about our real skin.. Similarly advertisment show skin like a white paper wrinkfree, blemish free.. It makes us feel as if there is smthn really terrible with my skin.. N we start fetching for products like serums, night creams, undereye cream and what not.. And its not at all affordable..
Thank you for this, Sherry. This video was a reassuring balm to the soul, like all your Real Talk videos are. Which is why yours is the only channel I ever comment on. Thank you for all the content, and may the world be filled with more people like you. 🤗
I relate so much! I have wavy, thick and dry hair . Every visit to the salon is traumatic, the hairdresser always suggests smoothening or straightening or whatever. I just want a hair cut! Earlier, I was obsessed with straight hair because I was bullied for my hair a lot. Thankfully, I've come to terms with my hair now ❤️ thanks for sharing this! As usual, you're love ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for making this video Sherry! It’s high time we accept and embrace the natural texture of our hair and not let others make us feel bad about it by calling them dry, damaged and unhealthy.
You have such a voluminous and healthy hair 🥰🥰 we have loved your hair since 8-9 years 🥰 I love it 😁😁😁😁 Mine hair is also little frizzy and it's okay I think ❤️
Sherry atleast you have hair!! and they look gorgeous!! I suffer from severe hair fall and balding and I have looked at each of your video and thought...wow what beautiful hair!! I wish I had hair like that! Over the years, I found a solution to my balding head...and that was short hair!! exactly like what you had earlier...because short hair hides the scalp perfectly. I cant tell you how much resistance I have got from family, friends, colleagues towards keeping short hair...ki ye koi umar hai baal larkon ki tarah itne chote rakhne ki?? and what not!! Despite all kinds of treatment not working, I with so much courage accepted this problem so seamlessly by keeping short hair (which according to me look dapper on me!!) but people still dont SHUT UP and fail to realize how hard it can be for anyone to accept not being able to grow hair because of the balding!! So you go girl Sherry!! Dont listen to anyone...the world is just jealous when they diss you!! You look amazing and not a thing there is about you that you need to change!! 💖
It took me 32 years to accept my curls Sherry and now when I goto parlours I am very proud to say NO to everything they have to offer. I even make them use the diffuser coz my hair matters more than what they think. I am so done with burning my hair and skin with those irons 🤣 Guess what I never got as my compliments on straightened hair as I get on my curls ❤️
I can completely relate to your experience. Though I have never tried straightening or other thing, but I was fed up with people and their opinion about my hair that how damaged, frizzy, dry is my hair and it was struggle for me. But I don't want to do straightening at all.. yes it was struggle but now I have accepted my hair completely, I know it is a type, and fortunately have found a salon where they never ever told anything about hair. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for addressing this issue. It is much needed ❤️❤️❤️❤️ lots of love
My hair is such a mess I just hate my hair I can do 0 styles except making a bun that too looks so odd. You look very pretty in this hair but I don't look good in it. I have straightened her so many times but no use. I am always embarrassed about my hair. I can never leave my hair yes it is a very unmanageable 🙁
I have frizzy long brown hair and someone told me that I should limit my showering because it’s killing my hair volume and sheen which hurt because I can’t help it since my hair is just naturally frizzy so it’s not as shiny. I love my frizzy hair and I loved your video! ❤
Your videos always make me feel so connected to you Sherry ♥️ the way you speak about things it’s really nice.. people should learn from you about how to normalise things and goshhh the salon people are the worst.. I grew up in the capital and I’ve been shamed for my hair the whole life because as you said it doesn’t fall in the straight and proper curly hair and I’ve been always recommended to do something or the other about my hair and in that pressure I got my hair smoothened even after having a healthy hair.. my scalp was healthy my hair were healthy but I was constantly told that my hair is dry and damaged and later when after a year and so my hair started coming back to its original texture I realised how much these chemicals and everything destroyed my hair.. the original texture was totally gone and this thing happened 4-5 years back when I was only 19.. my hair returned to its original texture but it’s not the way it used to be before that hair treatment.. I learned my lesson back then and I’ve been trying to praise my hair the way they are ♥️ I don’t know how to say thanks to you about being so vocal about things ♥️ much love to you ✨✨
I remember someone telling me in the office premises that you should straighten your hair. Sadly, instead of being furious and annoyed that office is not a place to pass loose comments, I actually spent an hour thinking if my hair looks unprofessional or bad. Anyway, no malice in me for that person now because I think even I didn't like my hair at that point of time. Thanks Sherry for this pep talk. I appreciate all the content you put out, thanks for being the person you are. Wish you more success and motivation for the work you do. :)
I have thick and long hair..everyone complimented my hair.. It's more like frizzy type. But I love my hair❣ it's is completely chemical free hair..no shampoo...no conditioning ❣ from 2016 it started to become wavy and now it became curly hair 😇now I can't properly style my hair. Because of the length and frizzy texture,I can't leave a open hair style..only I can braid it..everyone advises me for doing haircut, blow-dry ,keratin treatment. I was afraid..and also thought about such things.. But Sherry❣❣❣❣❣ you helped me to get rid of the thoughts❤❤❤❤❤
In school some kids used to call me "coir hair", they used to scream so loudly especially when i get down from my school bus in front of my house, my neighbours heard it multiple times. It was so embarrassing. Thanks for the video. Now I like my hair, this coir hair suits me the best 😂
A very very genuine creator .. perhaps the most genuine one ! You need to do another video where you should shortlist products that work for frizzy hair (please!) Oil..shampoo..mask..conditioner ..comb everything !! I just bought a tangle teezer and just realised that it doesn't work on thick ..wavy hair 😐 So please Sherry ...a hair care video for people like us ..take your time ..do your research and come up with another great video ...lots of love ❤️
I have the same hair as yours. When i went for the cut this time the very first time the hairstyle told me i like your hair, i like the waves. And I never heard this before in my life ever from anyone. I just couldn’t believe him 😂
I have very thin hair (less volume) and my friends always teased me whenever it was wet, whenever we went to the beach to play... It has been 5 years and I have stopped worrying about what others say.. and I just love my hair...
i have never come back from a salon without getting unwanted advice to get rebonding/ keratin/ hair spa. i have naturally frizzy curly hair and i love it like it is. Growing up i have had people hair shame me and i feel like with time i have come to accept how it is and i take pride in keeping it and loving it natural!
I have been there ... However I started giving them back
Same here
You tell em Sherry! Frizz is nature's gift that makes hair appear more voluminous as opposed to flat and sparse. High time we appreciated it!
My hair is similar to yours.I went to a salon once , the person who was blow drying my hair outrightly said "I was given this client because the manager is still holding a grudge against me, no can blow dry this hair".I was 22 years old back then and was so embarrassed that I had smoothening done to my hair. This is why I love Sherry Shroff.

Omg Sherry! This is was so needed. I did not even realise this could be it. Thank you ❤️
Those with fine hair, frizz really is a friend
Me too belong to this frizzy thick hair family since childhood.. but due to stress and hormonal imbalance they've become more dry, damage, grey, hairfall n unmanageable. Just need a good haircut soon. I never treated my hair either. So happy with what I have.
This is why I love so much of what you do, Sherry! #alwaysaShroffer
People need to be mindful of what they say about hair and skin and even more so we need to start embracing our natural true form. much love.
This is why I follow you. You are really genuine and awesome!
100 ℅ agree with you Sherry. We have the perception that frizzy hair texture means they are dirty or Not combed or shabby .. Straight hair is always considered to be good or presentable. We need to normalise #frizzyhair texture thank you for bringing up this topic❤
#Frizzyhairdontcare
Such an amazing video Sherry . I definitely relate to your story. I have accepted my frizzy and wavy hair as is.
Thanks for sharing! Always had crazy wavy hair, been rebelling against straightening advice forever 😃
That's right even I have curly frizzy and dry hair and I like it..
Thanku! Affirms a lot of my curly hair struggle too :) glad you spoke about it!
Thank you so much for sharing this Sherry. I’ve been feeling this way as well
Thank you 😭❤️
I didn't know I needed this but I did. Thank you so much 😭
Lots of love to you. ✨🥰
I can relate !
Sharing this video everywhere for sure
Thank you for this sherry ❤️
Hi Sherry, you are one of those very few you tubers who is doing good work in the space of lifestyle and fashion. Your content addresses important issues and is not jus limited to meaningless hauls constantly. Thank you for these videos!
Sherry this is amazing.... so wanted to hear this....
Hey, have you tried the curly girl method? Just the products? Leave ins, gels, not brushing? I think dry hair is like dry skin right? When your skin goes dry, you moisturize, why should you be different with your hair?
My hair was like yours all through my life and I obviously straightened it too #CurLyHairProblems :/
But since i started the curly hair method, I just realized that I've been doing it wrong the whole time.
Sherry Sherry Sherry ❤️
Love you babe! Your content is FAB 👏❤️
Real talk with you is so cool 👍
I have been through the same experience, I felt you were telling my story.
Hi Sherry, thank you so much for putting this out. I have been shamed for my textured, curly hair ever since I remember. I wish I had this video when I was younger. Lots of love🥰
I so second this…thanks for putting this up..it’s about time people start accepting / embracing different hair textures.
Thank you. Never realised how much I needed to hear this ,untill I watched this video. Much love to u. Much love to my frizzy but lovely hair🥰
Just a few minutes ago i was looking at the mirror and thinking what to do with my dry frizzy hair. Thank you for normalizing this ❤❤
Thank you for this ❤️
This video shud reach more ppl
You r so correct dear i love you for being so good and talking on a topic that people dont even care about .i too love my hair the way they r 🙂🙂🙂🙂
You're amazing and you empower so many women around the world to love themselves and accept themselves and I truly appreciate you very much! ❤️
Hah!
I get it. I haven't had a good haircut in my life yet just because my hair is extremely freezy and unmanageable. Thanks for the video
A much needed video Sherry! Thank you.
I never noticed the frizz. Your hair looks great! I have perfectly curly hair but all my life I have been mocked, people stuck things or put the pen inside my dense hair and make fun of it. I really struggled straightening my hair.
This was amazing 😍. Thank you for sharing this Sherry 💗
Hey Sherry! You've got nice hair and they look lovely.
Thank you for this, Sherry. This video was a reassuring balm to the soul, like all your Real Talk videos are. Which is why yours is the only channel I ever comment on. Thank you for all the content, and may the world be filled with more people like you. 🤗
Loved the video..ur hair is nice..we should really learn to respect and love the way we are rather than what people tell us..self love all the way..😊
I relate so much!
You have such a voluminous and healthy hair 🥰🥰 we have loved your hair since 8-9 years 🥰 I love it 😁😁😁😁
Mine hair is also little frizzy and it's okay I think ❤️
I have always had smooth straight hair all my life and have always always wanted voluminous hair like yours !! love the way you carry short hair ❤️
I am so done with burning my hair and skin with those irons 🤣
Guess what I never got as my compliments on straightened hair as I get on my curls ❤️
Thankyou sherry for this video...all my life I have been dissed about my hair..recently I have started accepting my hair texture and myself🥰
The type of influencing we need. Great message!
I just bought a tangle teezer and just realised that it doesn't work on thick ..wavy hair 😐
So please Sherry ...a hair care video for people like us ..take your time ..do your research and come up with another great video ...lots of love ❤️
Sherry, I love your hair!! ♥️
I have the same hair as yours. When i went for the cut this time the very first time the hairstyle told me i like your hair, i like the waves. And I never heard this before in my life ever from anyone. I just couldn’t believe him 😂
Sherry is here to spread smile again!!
I have very thin hair (less volume) and my friends always teased me whenever it was wet, whenever we went to the beach to play...
It has been 5 years and I have stopped worrying about what others say.. and I just love my hair...
