Adding in under dog characters can be good but I think it need the Marvel Rivals approach were some of the unknown characters were part of the original roster and newer one also promised a more popular one joining
one thing i have to say is, from a business stance for a live service game, you obviously need heavy hitter characters, but i also know firsthand how good letting underdogs get a spotlight can mean. I started watching Steven Universe because i played and enjoyed Garnet, and i was curious about her outfit where she had a wedding dress. Its now one of my favorite shows, plus ive seen the spinoff, and the movie. It genuinely made me encouraged to learn about the characters i didnt know about.

Edit: I was young when I was first introduced to Smash Bros and it introduced me to Samus and Game and Watch.
They need to work on their ranked. It was horrible. Plus, why am I getting matched with the same team every time I try to get a match? I could even wait an hour, come back and then still get that same team. It got to a point where if I had to wait until that team got a match before clicking just to temporarily get new opponents, hoping that they didn't finish around the same time.

@hotfunyunsop6196 so no one but them were online at that time? No lol... If there's players around my rank online, I should be matched with them as well. I know for a fact it isn't just two other folks online at that time to where I am using my entire match history on them if I don't purposely try to avoid them.
@blueisacolor7639 dude how many people you think are playing at the same time? Now imagine how many are playing ranked? And even less around your bracket. There's times in ranked where I'll play at midnight and it's the same 4 or 5 people. Is it because of their system? No it's cause there's barely people man 😆

Multiversus would’ve thrived if the gameplay was like this during the relaunch. Have all characters unlocked & sell a lot of highly popular skins for fair prices, it would’ve been super successful. I’m so sad the direction for the game was so bad, I love Multiversus.. 😢 my favorite game
I was hyped to one days play duos of Robin and Raven. Even if the game survived, grinding for them would have killed me.
Fun fact if you bought the legendary addition back in beta case that gave you a bunch of fighter tokens if you get every character that’s bin released you would still have some left over

@@DxipNinja But Stripe is the main face of his IP. He got clumped in with the most irrelevant characters from other IPs. Gremlins has a huge fanbase so that's why I was like "huh?". 😭

The last two characters really show the lack of love for this game from the devs. Lola freakin bunny and Aquaman. Not Gumball or Darwin. Not Ben 10. Not Gwnerator Rex. Just the same characters from similar universes.
Do you know what dev means.... Developer. Developers dont get a say what happens to the game, they develop what they are told. Blame Tony and WB..
Generator Rex isn't a character people asked for heavily. Daffy Duck should've been the character for Season 5.
The devs didnt get a say in what characters got added, Tony literally denied some characters that were completely finished because he wasn't personally a fan of said characters

Devs can't put in whoever they please. Licensing is a thing and it costs so if they don't have permission to use a character it simply isn't happening. Now take into account the game struggled to make any money, that further limits your budget for licensing characters.

Heck his Black Adam quote was a bit out of line as well when he follows it up with Blue Beetle of all characters, which is a film that did even worse than Black Adam.

Warner Bros doesn't even value their brands enough to keep their Cartoons on HBO Max. Most stuff gets sold or cancelled for tax right offs or some BS. With that attitude you can't compete with Smash Bros!
You can't stream Ben 10, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Og Teen Titans or Billy & Mandy etc.

I never even tried it due to the predatory monetization and grind to unlock characters. If its a new one the only way to play them was buying it or grinding your ass off for that one single character
I think that the importance of a character being added should have been based on the impact, movie or tv show viewership, lasting changes to the type of genre and how loved it was
The original Smash Brothers on the N64 had 12 characters. But they were all good. Trying to make a Smash Brothers Ultimate as a Free to Play game right from the start was a bad idea.

It makes me mad that Daffy who actually is in the files got shafted for Nubia and f-ing Banana Guard.
Banana guard is fun.

I don’t think this will be the last we see of MultiVersus. I think the game will eventually attempt to make (another) comeback and I hope the developers will have learned from their mistakes and make a truly great game that will stand the test of time. Stranger things have happened.
I definitely disagree about the “hard hitters” needing to be added immediately. I like having the more niche stuff too, characters like Beetlejuice are so cool to see and Jason, despite having never seen a movie he was in, became my favorite character. I was just simultaneously hoping the game wouldn’t shut down because frankly I saw it coming. If the game had survived for years then this wouldn’t be a problem at all. They also improved the monetization over time, I was constantly getting event skins and building up currency over time with just one purchase of the battle pass. The prices of the skins in the shop were too much but frankly I never felt the need to buy those because of all the ones I was getting otherwise (this is one of the things that could’ve helped monetization for them, however. Which could be a major reason for the game’s failure. Also I gotta say I agree with not having every character automatically unlocked. No reason for it). The gameplay itself also wasn’t a problem imo aside from the balance and some hitbox/glitch stuff here and there, I liked the speed of it and adding stuff like the shield because of player feedback kinda ruined it for me. I think it’s a massive shame that it’s shutting down, I honestly enjoyed it more than Smash Bros. I’ve seen a lot of these diagnoses for why the game failed and for me almost none of it mattered. I can’t really understand why most people didn’t like it as much as me. Great art style, great roster, had a lot of fun (and frustration, as with any multiplayer game) with it. A shame.
This game definitely had a spark to it. But due to bad decisions and late changes, the game lost it's spark. Hopefully someone does revive it, especially the Project M approach.

it was a fun game, I swear if they made the characters free, and focused on gameplay, made shop skins a secondary focus. the last update I hope they say and the characters are free!

I didn’t mind banana fighter since the other slots were given to even more obscure DC characters. Like really Nubia? She could have been a skin for WW. No Ben ten, or Mordecai
They should have just done a CN Punch time explosion spiritual successor featuring Adult Swim characters and some DC representation (notably Teen Titans), nobody wanted a WB crossover game in the first place (I mean who was asking for Rick Deckard, Rick Blaine, and Dirty Harry? But those three are still important to WB's history probably moreso than even Cartoon Network) everyone just wants cartoon characters in the game.

From the sounds of it the only character WB mandated was Black Adam with the rest of their requests (E.G. Harry Potter rep) were just that...requests not mandates.

I couldn't get through 30 minutes of it. The detective angle where he's looking for clues about his ex wife made me audibly say "in what way is this even beetlejuice anymore?" And my wife agreed and we shut it off.

yeah hate that this game dropped the ball so hard. Loved it during the test than it came out fully and I stopped playing so fast.

you can unlock all the characters for free, i logged on and got marceline, aquaman, and lola you have to claim them in events or buy them with fighter currency that i think the game gives you for free

Yeah but 2v2 gets too chaotic, at that point I don't get a rewarding feeling from my input because it feels like i'm mashing into nonsense.
Also the gameplay in general feels ass. The characters being bigger was indeed better, it's easier to hit moves, but the speed is so fuckin' HORRIBLE. Like the human brain is just too fast to slow down to the pace of that game.

Nah you can’t rag on additions like Beetlejuice and Black Adam just cause you’re not familiar with them doesn’t mean they weren’t awesome iconic inclusions. Sure we should’ve gotten other characters but Beetle and Black Adam definitely deserve their place they’re not a fucking banana guard they’re both huge. They’re not the most crazy hype things but they’re good additions and Beetle is WB pulling on ALL of their IP’s they were good in inclusions and set good precedents.
this, while I wasn't happy with Black Adam, Beetlejuice at least brought in much needed WB live action representation amidst the sea of cartoon and comic characters (I know those are where most of the requests come from but the game needed at least a couple of live action characters in it given how it is supposed to be a "celebration of Warner Bros." and all).

You will be able to access it if you downloaded and played season 5. You can delete the game after that and have access any time.

I liked Multiversus because of the fact that it was accesisble for heaps of people, consoles and pc can both play, you dont need to buy an entire switch to play smash bros. Just download the free game. However other than that the game was.... Subpar.

I just realized that this is the ultimate cash grab I have ever seen. Literally everything you paid for thr game which is NOT cheap, and all the time you put in is Gone. You can’t play online with your friends anymore to show off your cool gear and whatnot. At least they have some sliver of humanity to at least keep the game. The game mechanic just full of gimmick , like grimlins and stripe, and also the 2v2 gimmicks, brawlhalla have a lot less type of attack but it felt better to play than the full of gimmicks, and also it feels bad to play.

Can’t say you’re really wrong on the second part. Yeah like yeah the game launched in a ROUGH state but it’s wild seeing all these creators NOW care all of a sudden. Like now that it’s far too late you wanna give the game attention, when I guarantee you having some major content creator like Hbox consistently covering the games updates and stuff would’ve helped a lot.

Multiversus needs positive reinforcement this season if we want it to come back, we cant be promoting stuff like this from people who have barely played it 😭
The gameplay's just ass and slow.
Like i swear to god, I once just went Shaggy and all I did was side special, his fucking kick is predictable, but the slowness of the game just gives it priority somehow. I'm not kidding, I won like hella matches, also Joker was busted but I did sometimes beat him even with that stupid ass strat.
