I did intensive research, used price match with a major retailer and achieved a very favorable price for a stage 4 88 keys. The effort pays off. So do your high quality productions.

A few years ago our church was in the market for a new keyboard. As 1 of 3 players I had some input. We checked the Nord, along with the Roland, Yamaha, Korg, and went with the Kurzweil PC3X. This and the Nord were both "investments", but 2 of us come from Kurzweils, so it was an easy move. Both the PC3 and the Nord were EXCELLENT boards, and it actually came down to these 2. I think our combined familiarity with the platform was the final deciding factor. Nord is a great board though.

Great playing and voicings by the way. I liked that string sound too. I agree with Nord not being strong in that area. Your patch sounded great.

I would never call it overkill. It seems very handy for both stage, church, and studio.
At the same time, I think I would do the customary bang for buck calculation and walk away with a YC-88 for stage and church. For studio, I would use a MPC Key 61 with a Roland Fantom, Roland Integra 7, Yamaha Montage, or Korg Nautilus. I chose the Integra 7 myself.
The Nord is brilliant. I could buy one today and not skip a beat financially. It need not even provide a return on the investment. At the same time, I just couldn’t do it. It’s not the Nord, it’s me. I would look at it all the time wondering what I could’ve done with the money.

Great video. I purchased a Yamaha CK 88 stage piano for my church after our MotifEs bit the dust. For $1,499.00 it’s hard to beat. I have heard many Nord users say that it’s on par with anolder Nord. Not at all saying it can compete with a $6000 Nord of course 😂. I’m pretty impressed and pleased with it so far. Again. Great video

A MOXF8 would have given you a lot more than the ck88. Same price with so many more sounds, a sequencer, great action, light weight, and on and on.

@@danielcolfer4671 crazy thing is I never even considered purchasing the MOXF8 🤦‍♂️. I was torn between the MODX8 and CK88. Oh well, I’m happy with the purchase and love the simplicity of the CK88. Thanks for the Information 🙏🏼🙏. Cheers!

Ck series is a great value. Love the portability. I have the ck 61 and grab it for various situations. Battery powered, built in speakers, built in audio/midi interface, light weight, Bluetooth, yes lots of great features. Lots to like with the ck series. If I didn’t have way too many keyboards (embarrassing) and was just going to use one for most gigs I’d grab a MOXF8 for reasons all ready stated. They still sell them brand new. Incredible amount of features at a great price.

I’m not knocking the stage 4. I have an 88 and a 73 compact (and a wave 2) its a beautiful instrument. The sounds that I use for many of my gigs lead me to grab the motif and Kronos gear. But when I do fire up the stage 4 it reminds me just how great it sounds and plays. It’s visually stunning. For what it does it does it well.

@@danielcolfer4671just of curiosity why would you need a 73 comp, when you have a wave 2, and 88?

Appears to be a great board but in my opinion........ Its 30% overpriced. The patches sound very good but I achieve those on my K2700 easily. Although...I will say I think the pianos on the Nord are slightly better but not worth the extra dollars especially when in a Church setting they may not translate as as clean as they do in a studio type environment. Also, the K2700 has the built in sequencer if you use that and it can be had for 3K.

I'm curious to know how your custom pad sound is made. Is there pitch shifted reverb in the sound and is that what contributes to alot of the modern sound? I don't own a nord so I'm trying to create the sounds by other means. What type of reverb and decay time and what is pitch shifted (1 octave, 2 octaves, both?). thanks and really enjoyed the video!
