    What is that 3rd submission in July (for the previous tax year) called? Is it still technically a provisional tax submission?

    • @jasperbasson
      @jasperbasson  Год назад

      The 3rd Provisional Tax submission is end of Sept (for Feb year-end), to prevent penalties and interest in case of an under provision for income tax (in the 1st and 2nd PT periods)

    Hi. I'm not sure if I should be paying provisional tax or individual tax. I work with my mother, we have two different departments under one name. All income gets paid into her account for ease of invoicing and she pays my portion to me end of month like a salary... However all expenses for my department like furniture, consumables, stock etc I pay for from my own money. So how do I do this. She is also running an sole proprietor. I feel like I'm running on both sides - sole proprietor and employee. Please advise on how I can claim my business expenses. And if I should get my customers to pay separately from hers if this Is all making it too complicated.

    1:30 Is this information still the same for 2023 tax year? Specifically salary earners with part-time business earning less than 30k pa. Wondering because I fall in that category as my side business currently still earns

    • @jasperbasson
      @jasperbasson  2 года назад

      Hi The Frugal Rhino.
      Yes same information. I would suggest you consider provisional tax if your business generate a net profit. The net profit of the business PLUS your salary will put you in a higher Income Tax bracket, and will cause additional income tax.

    Hi. I haven’t started my freelance work and I was told to file a provisional tax for 6 months, but when do I do that? Is there a certain income I need to be earning first to start with dealing with SARS?

    • @jasperbasson
      @jasperbasson  3 года назад

      Good morning. Good question. Provisional tax is very six months, regardless of the taxable income. You still need to file a return.
      Its every 6 months from the year end of the company. As for most companies the year end is 28 Feb, and thus the provisional tax returns are due August and February every year.
      If you fail to do so, your TCS Pin (Tax Clearance) will not be valid any more

    Hello again Jasper. I hope that you are doing well. I want to open up a PTY but will be a Personal Service Provider. I will also be earning Commission. What deductions are applicable if more than half of my salary is commission based?
    Thanks so much and have a great day further 😊

    • @jasperbasson

      Hi Sonia. My apologies, I have missed this question. When you company (PTY or CC) earns more than 80% of its income from ONE source, it will be a PSP with almost no deductions.

How would I handle separating my salary and those benefits that they provide and would otherwise pay on my behalf If they were in SA but send through together with my salary and also am I a provisional taxpayer?
