- The saloon that ticks all the boxes, you can help but fall for the high quality charm of the Alfa Romeo BUT is this car to niche to beat the likes of the Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4 Saloon?

I would pick the Alfa Giulia over all of its rivals..
Great taste!! 🇮🇹
I've owned my Giulia Veloce for 2 1/2 years & has been 100% reliable. Mine is in Stromboli Grey with red interior & calipers, I get complements all of the time, especially when I'm filling up fuel. You won't get that driving a dull default Audi or BMW, driving an Alfa makes you feel a million dollars but you will have to drive one to experience it.
When fueling I get absolutely no complements as most of the cars are Lexus BMW or Mercedes. I have to go to the post office to get complements. The german car owners are haters of this brand and consistently get spanked when I'm on the road with my veloce.
@@jean-frederickjacques6780that's hilarious
Driving a BMW is just saying to the world "I'm a cunt."
The general public forgets but Alfa Romeo is the inventor and creator of the sports saloon!
yes, I went to the museo nazionale dell automobile 2 weeks ago and had no idea how important not even just alfa or fiat, but the whole italian industry was with creating a modern car we know today. I mean, they made it.
@@Brian-jv8iy I've been learning about Lancia. The advance design and high quality made them too expensive which hurt them in the marketplace. They used aircraft quality fasteners.
I got the Veloce for the exact same rational: its practical yet you feel like you're driving a sportcar. There driving experience never fails to put a smile on my face. I also can't help looking around after exiting the car. I don't think there is a better car out there in its price category.
How long have you owned the car? How had the reliability been?
Also what kind of real world mpg figures are you getting
TIA
My Ti Lusso is 6 years old with 80K miles. I replaced the AC compressor three months ago. Thats it. Best car ive owned since my 2000 325i
what did that AC cost to fix?
My wife and I were driving BMWs since 2005. We switched to Alfa Romeo in 2022 and 2024 for pretty much everything you stated in your video. We have two Giulia Veloce and love them!
I don t even know why everyone is not buying this masterpiece
I do I have a quad ❤
If someone has more money, there are better cars. I just want to spend as little as possible. What you get with a Giulia for 50-60 k euro, thats at least 20-30k more with BMW or Mercedes, which drive worse, but are more modern.
I also want a rare car, but many people enjoy having something treated as upscale, which is not a bad thing at all.
@@Brian-jv8iybetter cars in what way? Interioer and tech? Ya sure. This car is for drivers. The steering and chassis dynamics is one of the best of any sports sedan ever made.
quite expensive, a body type which is not trendy at the moment, no hybrid or electric option, brand with limited resonance with buyers outside of enthusiast groups.
It is an enthusiast car, only appeals to a small group.
I’ve just got a veloce…and it’s a fabulous car..!
It's a great car to own. No issues with it over 3 years
I like the interior of this car especially the physical knob switches, thick steering wheel, large gear shift pedals and leather. I could definitely feel like I'm in a Ferrari 👌👌
The earlier Giulias have a thinner steering wheel which with the quick steering makes the car seem even more agile than the competition. I really dislike the very thick steering wheels on the current BMWs. I find them uncomfortable even though I have large hands.
@@larrychew1I agree, I love the thinner wheel on my 2018.
If I could afford it, I'd have a Giulia in a heartbeat.
As usual, it looks far better in the metal and far, far better than the German opposition.
Alfa need more dealers, they are very thinly spaced, people are lazy and can't be bothered to travel a relatively short distance, when they can go nearer and get something grey.
Great review, Tish, as usual honest and interesting👍👍
I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH THIS REVIEW TISH! YOU HAVE REALLY GROWN AS A CAR JOURNALIST. GOOD KNOWLEDGE BASE, WELL PRESENTED, PROFESSIONAL - ALL IN ALL SUPERB! KEEP IT UP!! THIS IS COMING FROM A HARDCORE ALFA ENTHUSIAST (2 X GIULIAS, 1 X STELVIO).
Woooo!! I’m so pleased you enjoyed it 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 I tried to keep it super casual and just my genuine thoughts!
Agreed!! Really appreciate that you got all the facts accurately.
I bought my 2018 Veloce Q4 new and will NEVER swap it for anything else, as long as it´s alive. These cars are the best total package out there, even 6-7 yeas after launch.
Thank god for an English review. I tearing my hair off watching American reviews. Your calm and composed manner is attention captivating.
Brilliant technical analysis of everything all the way to the gear display on the dashboard.
Best interview I've seen for this car. Definitely feeling more positive about buying it in March because of this video.
Meanwhile im looking for an american review
Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback. You're going to love your car!
@@PRMNT Look at Kevin Deal's long term review of his QV. Search "Upscale Audio Alfa Romeo". His video along with the ones by Phil at Auto Fanatic gave me the confidence to trade my 2019 Ti Lusso for a 2021 QV two years ago. I know Kevin to be a very honest guy and straight shooter from years of being a customer of his audio business.
😅 😂 💯 the moment you hear that American accent I close the video.
i heard that
I love the way she said competizione.
Hi Tish a great review as ever I’ve long been a Alfa fan and in my view the red is the best colour such great cars, well engineered and a great drive and so different to the mainstream!
Loving your reviews girl 😘 oddly enough I’ve been looking at something other than my usual BMWs and was intrigued with this. Glad your review has ironed out a few of my worries.
I switched to Alfa Romeo after 4 decades and four BMWs because the last two generations didn't put a smile on my face when going down the road. My BMW CCA membership runs out next year.
A refreshing review. I'm in New Zealand and was lucky to find a used 2017 one at 20,000km. Bought NZ new with one previous owner that has taken good care of it. Just fun to drive, even at low crusing speed.
Have a 2018 Q4 sport absolutely love it it's a shame more people don't give it a chance because of its reliability rumors I have owned mine for 3 years and other than oil changes never had any issue with it. Stand out from the crowd and give the brand a test drive one shopping for a new Sedan you won't be disappointed beautiful to look at an amazing to drive.
"I drive a little like a 'rude boy'"...hahahaha that was awesome!
This is definitely now the purist enthusiast's choice in the segment as its rivals notably the 3 Series have become overcomplicated with gizmos and unconnected driver feel plus high running costs Alfa Romeo is more reliable because it has less to go wrong!
I'm on my second Giulia. My first was a 2019 ti Sport with Carbon. I know have a 2022 Veloce. Both are the 280 BHP 4 cyl. Both have been reliable so far. The '22 model somehow *feels* slower. It also has a few more creaks and rattles. But maybe that's because of the moonroof. Honestly they are both fantastic, thoroughly satisfying, and enjoyable to own.
Long overdue review! Loved it 👌🏻 Bring on the Quad facelift
Absolutely! Can’t believe it’s taken this long…. I don’t know if I’m ready for the Quad 😱 will need to wait for the spring now 😳😅
🤩Love it just Love it.😀
The Giulia is an amazing sedan! It looks great and packs a lot of punch.
But it was released at a time when the sedan sales were decreasing. 165,000 units of the Giulia were sold in 7 years.
Couldn't agree more!
Let's not make the ALFA brand a mass produced vehicle....I appreciate not seeing one every 1/4 mile like Teslas in CA
@@jean-frederickjacques6780 I think Alfa’s products are good, but they should come out more frequently, like at least one per year, not every three or so years.
Also worth mentioning - the 0 - 60 time of 5.2 seconds is equal to Maseratis, Mustangs, etc. On the other hand, gears 7 & 8 are overdrive and the car weighs only 1,400kg - it will therefore do 40mpg when driven gently on busy UK roads that are limited to 70mph. It's fast, it's comfortable, it's safe and it's far more economical than V6s and V8s. Best of all it drives beautifully on cross country roads - incredible stability, acceleration, braking and roadholding. Pure enjoyment with no fatigue when you reach your destination.
Definitely pick Giulia over its rivals. Alfa should have built a new Golf rival instead of the Tonale.
My car, but Competizione Spec! Great Car.
I have a 2018 Veloce with the Q2 performance pack. Its coming onto 60k miles now (47k of which I've done in the last 3 years).
Other than the obligatory AGM battery upgrade and some wheel arch relays for the aux water pump (and the others for preventative maintenance), the car has not missed a beat!
The car is so much more rewarding to drive and own than the humdrum "usual suspects' on our roads, and the way it can change and attack a good road in the Dynamic driving modes is immense - especially considering how well it does as an everyday drive.
An amazing bit of kit!
I just need to get around to fitting that Miltek exhaust i have in the garage ;)
Love this car and super review! Like the Nike React too!
Appreciate it!!
You’re very welcome
I've got a Giulia Veloce in Misano Blue and and red brake calipers. 😊 I love it.
Stunning!! That sounds like a great colour combo! How long have you had it?
Same. It's a fantastic car. Mine has 45k miles and has been flawless. I love driving it every day.
Alfa all day long 👍🏻
Yes!! 😏 🇮🇹
Hit the nail on the head It's different and stunningly beautiful saloon.
Have a 3 Series Bland Boring
Had one (red) for 5 years until it was involved in an accident whilst parked in a car park. Absolutely loved it for may of the reasons mentioned in the video. There was always a sense of excitement every time I sat in it. There were a couple of things I didn't like though including brakes that didn't have much feel and most importantly for me its physical size; the Giulia is both wider and longer than one might think which means even getting into a typical UK city, multi-story car park can be awkward and there is a greater risk of getting door knocks from cars parked in adjoining spaces. Still, these are minor things compared to the fun of owning one.
I have a new Veloce and I think I am going to go with the Madness Monza exhaust. One thing about this car, as mentioned by you, is the driver engagement, being in the cockpit it feels like you are flying an airplane. A friend of mine summed it up, she said 'there is nothing about this car I don't like.' Alfa's are.. quirky, I like that. It looks terrific from all angles and I get people ogling it, it is seriously a beautiful car.
love it - and its much more economical, when you want it to be, than the headline numbers - on the A setting i get 5-6L highway driving which is the same as my old Audi A3 - but off the highway its an animal... last of a dying breed folks. You know it makes sense.
Great review Tish my father has the 2019 Veloce great fun to drive 😁
Thank you! Amazing, I bet he loves it?
@@AutoSocialUK yes he loves it very tail happy in D mode changes everything suspension, throttle response basically it’s a complete animal in D mode 😁
Good looking jam jar 😊
Im just here for the accent........ Actually great car and great review!
I've had the Veloce for nearly 2 years. Without doubt the best car I've owned. I did test drive the QV (Quadrafellatio) but it's ridiculous to drive on the road. Agree about the noise.
Drive a quad and see the difference their amazing ❤
Likely to be my next car. This year I replaced my Brera Prodrive (2008, 145k miles) which never missed a beat, was fun to drive and still looked and felt special. Had had it for 5 years so just wanted a change. Bought a Merc E400 and what a mistake - broke down in the first month, off the road for 4 weeks and niggles/EML since then. It goes well but is no fun. Missing the Italian flair, style and fun so next move will be back to Alfa (and their reliability!)
best of the best sedan ever
nice car and I like the interior. I would choose this over a BMW or Mercedes.
Hope you’re well, do you still have the Lupo GTI? I bought one not long back and not seen much of it recently. 👍
I would go for a Giulia. But I already prefer the easy in and out of a SUV, the space, the less concern with speed bumps or rough roads. ...So, I've got a Stelvio which also drives superbly well.
I do love the Stelvio!
The Giulia is a bit awkward to get in and out of depending on your size. I think the door openings and the B pillar location are optimized for good looks. The wider door sills in the QV due to the aerodynamic body pieces makes it a little harder for less agile people to get in and out of the car.
@@larrychew1 …Or tall youngsters from the last century
😄
Really like the Alpha Romeo Giulia The issue I have with Alpha is that I live in Bristol. The nearest authorised Alpha dealer is in Swindon. Alpha need to have a dealer in Bristol if they are going to be on my list of future car purchases
I believe you might want to lower the steering wheel a bit more to see the complete display. Assuming it's not already in its lowest setting.
I did try moving it around unfortunately.
It’s top of the list for my next car , don’t think my budget will stretch to a new one so it’ll be used.
Amazing! What colour are you thinking?
@@AutoSocialUK It looks good in all the colour options but for me if it’s an Alfa Romeo then it has to be red.
I love when I see a Alfa Romeo Giulia on the road or in the parking lot. Not going to lie, I trust the reliability of a German car more than an Italian, but Italians do it better when it comes to styling and engine noise.
You are beautiful with all your fashions ❤
Tishworld...there's no better place to be!❤
Hahaha thanks!!
@@AutoSocialUK Always happy to bring a smile to your face!💖😉
good review but please try using dedicated microphone for in car shots. The audio will be crisp. It's very hollow if you use GO PRO cam sound.
I don’t. I use mics. However, I have started using AI to much audios.
Hey, Lindsay Lohan, great review! Is there a heads-up display in the Veloce?
Alfa, no doubt
The thing i don't like about the Giulia and Alfas in general is their trimm level policy, you need to get the AWD version if you need more equipment and more horsepower, they allow the pure RWD only with the cheaper versions. I don't want or need AWD, i prefer pure RWD, here in Greece we have absolutely no need for AWD in non-off roaders. I don't care if their AWD system is rear-biased, i still want RWD only.
Maybe a different colour would help it a little.
I think you’re right, I’m not into the red!
dem touches are like dem jeans..
You never said anything about its brake by wire system Tish. I was watching another video on here JayAmm I think it was and he was saying how he thought about buying one but the brakes failed and that put him totally off it. Should not happen in this day and age. No manual handbrake either. Beautiful car do.
The brakes on these cars are amazing.
that is not really relevant here@@stevenwalk8564
I really miss the perfect brake pedal feel in my E92 and earlier BMWs. It took me about 3 months in my 2019 Guilia Ti Lusso to be able to come to a smooth final full stop without the car jerking at the last two feet. It seem to be a smoother stop if I wear my Italian shoes that had smooth leather soles. Maybe rubber soled athletic shoes have a subtle bit of sticktion on the brake pedal that causes a bit of "chatter" that throws off the brake pedal sensor and brake control module. Maybe the engineers only wore Italian loafers with leather soles. I like electronic handbrakes! I find manual parking brakes won't hold some modern cars when it's a steep incline even when the handle is pulled up hard. The electronic handbrake in the Giulia will set automatically when the car is parked on an incline. The QV has a separate small caliper for the parking brake.
This car needs the 3 liter V6 Busso naturally aspirated, about 300hp and a manual gearbox, and it will be the new best car in the world after the BMW 5 series E39.
I drove a 3ltre V6 166 for 12 years and loved that engine's sound track. My current Guilia is quicker, lighter and much better balanced but I agree the engine doesn't 'sing' quite like the Busso did. The 8 speed auto (with paddles) is fantastic to drive and I really don't miss stick shift at all. Don't understand why more folk don't want them - but that's certainly their loss and not mine!
La bellezza non basta: senza il cuore saremmo semplici macchine 🙂
Top Daily Sedan Period. If you love drive! Otherwise enjoy a washing machine
How’s the sound system? I love this car but I’m afraid the stereo will let me down🤨
The optional Harman Kardon system can sound very good. You need to listen to a high resolution download on an USB stick to really hear its potential. I was shocked at how good the sound was when listening to a high res download. Radio stations and Sirius satellite radio applies audio compression so you don't get the full dynamic range. Bass is also too boosted on satellite radio. I installed a sub woofer in the trunk which enhanced the sound quality by about 20%. Good bass also makes the midrange and highs sound better by adding a good foundation to the music. I knew about this from home audio systems. (You need to really turn down the bass when listening to satellite radio when a sub is used.) I also had sound deadening attached to the back sides of the door cards. Door cards vibrate a lot when there's bass at moderate / moderate high sound levels. It's not perfect but got rid of most of the resonance. I did not do the rear doors.
@@larrychew1 awesome info thank you.
Was the sub plug and play or did it require further modifications?
I did just test drive a ‘24 Giulia and was ok with the upgraded system. Though it’s not as good as my stock ‘18 XC-60 system.
@@culldera1 A sub from JL Audio was professionally installed with an amplifier, switch/equalizer, and under dash sub volume control. The sub is in the trunk and does take up space. It's easily disconnected and removed if I need all the space in the trunk. The electronics are located in the space under the trunk carpet. JL Audio has subs with built in amplifiers. I would choose that to simplify the install and save some money if I was to do it again. There's probably better performance with the separate amp. I usually don't play it loud but the sub does improve the overall sound. The installation company has been in business since 1955 and they're worked on a number of my vehicles. The installation is very clean and tidy. Despite their experience (although not much with Alfa Romeo) they were unable to eliminate the "Sound System Unavailable" alert that comes on at random times. The sound system continues to work when the alert appears. The installer has tried different resistor values and the alert still appears. It didn't appear for a few months and recently came on again. I will check posts on this on the Giulia Forum. Just want to reiterate that a huge improvement in sound quality can be obtained by using the USB stick with good downloads. The sound from the radio and Sirius satellite radio is compromised.
Best Looking Saloon than the usual range of BMW AUDI MERCEDES
Wooo!! Couldn’t agree more!
Is it reliable after 3 years with 36k miles?
A few owners in the comments that might be able to tell you 👀
45k miles on mine. It's been flawless.

Yeah, filming yourself speeding and then putting it on RUclips probably not a great idea. Good review through!

allegedly. I'm pretty sure that speedometer is off ;)
what's the issue? She won't get a violation
I am a big Alpha fan but they are charging extra for basic exterior colors and the selection is awful. Additionally, the interior is only one color- black. If you want my $50K, you are going to have to offer me a much better selection.
the reason for that is the car is finishing the production, who wanted one, at least most, already got it with the colors of their choice for the interior so it is cheaper to just have the seats in 3 colors but not the dash and doors.
@@Brian-jv8iy If they want my money, they need to offer more options.
Hope no police watching this review, getting a bit carried away there girl!
Whoopsie….. 👀
Not sure a cop really cares that she's speeding. And if he does he's a loser. Have you received a police notice for speeding o YT?
Very unrated car, most reviews don’t dial into the chassis dynamics and handling, on a A/ B road it will feel good but get it on a mountain hill climb is epic, I don’t know how they do but would out handle a M3/4 on the right road, it really comes alive even with 4 people and a 4 pot engine.
Nice car but I would rather have a 3 series.
Yer, I think that would be my second choice!!
Right off the bat: the colour. Alfa Rosso (red) really pops in the sunlight, showing off all those sexy body lines. At the front, you can't confuse it with any other car. That's Italian engineering for ya, plus everything is functional which is important. Love the rotary dial wheels, love the LEDs but I hate that damn chrome Veloce badge, and the other chrome bits. Those need to be gloss black. No black roof, no sunroof, no black trunklid spoiler? Disappointing so i am gonna zonk those. Interior is a bit mediocre and i'll explain why, practicality is acceptable and I wish the Alfa had the V6, so that's another zonk. A great substitution for a car enthusiast who doesn't want one of the Germans, but the best daily car? No! Instead of an Italian or German, i'd go with its true rival from South Korea! The premium brand of Hyundai, the Genesis G70. Way more sporty looking, dark chrome instead of shiny chrome, BETTER interior, high quality leather and beautiful stitching, alcantara, electric sunroof, you get a spare tire and most importantly unlike the Veloce, the G70 gives you a twin turbo V6 engine with over 360hp! And the whole package without paying for any additionals, still costs less than the Veloce which is incredible. So i would pick that one over the Italian, but still great overall review. Thumbs up!
it feels insanely cheap inside
13:56 A really nice 👍 sedan, but to small and to expensive. A Lexus GS,any model, used would be a better buy.
I dont like her
Great 👍🏼 luckily you’re not being forced to watch
I hate black side skirts, looks cheap imo. you get a white car and 20% of the car is black like wtf? That new silly trend is from people with your taste now it makes sense.
