    Oh, Leah...you are a geeeeenius ! “I can do this,” at age 73. I built a fantastic master bathroom, with “water closet.” The guy I worked with was a carpentry and tile artist. The door on the toilet/bidet room stopped latching closed...the world was with you in there. I was going to power extra long screws into the hinges at the jam to pull it up.THEN I SAW YOUR VID.! Got the Knuckle wrench in 2 days from Amazon $26...in 15 mins, the door is fixed...latches with a light push....don’t have to lift the door by the handle to match the latch. I owe you a dinner...stop by!

      Leah is a natural born talent. Professional teachers are a different kind of breed. They teach for a living. It's their job. For Leah it's her passion.
      Leah is the grandmother. They tell calmly and explain why. A class is to big. Teaching professional can only be done with huge numbers. Or it must be 4 or 5 kids from rich parents, who are not interested anyway.
      Leah did more for me and the world then any world leader, any politician.

    So I'm going to get a knuckle bender and do my doors myself (72 year old eccentric cat lady). I wish she'd show how to do this on a glass storm door where the hinges are tiny. Anyway, I read the reviews of the people who used the exact tool she recommended at the Amazon site she posted...most of the reviews complained about one of the tips breaking off. SO, I'm going to look around and see if I can find one that may be a better quality. But I'm so glad I found her video and specifically looked for just this demonstration! Yay, Leah!!! Good job!

  • @cheryldavis5228
    @cheryldavis5228 6 лет назад

    I have only seen a few of your videos, but they have all been spot-on! Everything you have said and shown here is absolutely correct -- but, just like about everything else in carpentry, there are different ways to do the same thing.
    I've (long retired now) used this same method on, probably, a couple of thousand doors. However I always used an adjustable crescent wrench (had to be a larger one, like a 12")
    and did it with the pointy end towards the door and the round side towards where I wanted to roll the hinge. Worked most of the time. When it didn't I would then remove the casing leg (very carefully) and then have enough room to "roll" the hinge further. A matter of time
    if you're paid by the job and not by the hour....of course, if it is Your Door, then you'd have to be the "painter" who would have to re-detail the molding and your way could both be longer and shorter, time-wise, until completion of the repair.
    I am constantly amazed at the different tools now available (versus 20 years ago), but haven't forgotten that the most important tool any craftsman has is "his/her brain"! Well, you've certainly got it kid. Shown me some very good techniques.
    Thanks

    I really enjoy your posts they are very down to earth and well done. You don't assume that your viewers know anything and go step by step, Thanks. So I bought the tool and I am waiting for it to arrive. I think in my case that I will have to shim the hinges as well as adjust them. The door I am fixing is also too far away from the strike plate as well as the sagging. The lock side weatherstipping just barely touches the door edge on the bottom third of the door! This house was built in 2012 so slapdash workmanship is probably the root cause as I have seen no evidence of settling elsewhere. So I'll use this tool to correct the vertical sag and then shim all the hinges to move door closer to strike plate. Once again, thanks for the great videos!!

My only recommendation is first show how to do this with common tools that most people have at home. Specialty tools can be shown at the end especially if they are not required. A tool called a knuckle bender? I thought it was going to be a medieval torture device based on the name. Instead, it's a very cool tool that will solve a problem that most of us probably have. Thanks for sharing that with us, Leah.
