I just can't figure out this ship - it's SO impressively enormous! I cruised on Symphony for the first time in 2023, and she absolutely blew my mind - I don't think I'd know what to do on this ship, ha! Thanks so much for getting this released so quickly - I was hoping you'd be on there!

Pricing is out of control. Been loyal to Royal for 21 years. Loved sailing Wonder during her inaugural season 3.5-5k for 2 on a 7 night ocean view balcony. This big of a price hike compared was unexpected and unwarrented imo. Will be holding off on booking. They want double that now! Btw thanks for all the content Matt!!

Amazing! FYI, another big job of the pearl is structural. Since they put in those huge windows to let light in and open up the promenade the pearl is essentially holding up the deck above.

I've sailed on both Liberty and Anthem several times, and while this looks incredible, it looks like walking through a suburban mall. I would gladly trade one-of-a-kind amenities for a smaller ship. I can't imagine what the lines will be at every venue. Maybe I'll try Icon in a few years when the hype has subsided.

I see with so much some of it won’t be hits. There’s just too much for 7 days I feel like the ship will be heavily populated on half of the areas and almost empty in the other half. I also think lots of the seating areas are too cramped and close together

I'll say this about "lines at the venues:" Obviously, I haven't sailed on Icon. I HAVE sailed on 2 of the Oasis class ships that hold nearly as many guests, and one of the pleasant surprises was that I really didn't feel any more crowded (both 100% capacity, June of '22 and Spring Break '23) than our cruises on the Voyager class ships like Navigator EXCEPT for a few events like karaoke.

  • @thatdudeKarim
    @thatdudeKarim 8 месяцев назад +19

I was worried about crowding... but after this, I see that they truly have a space or neighborhood for everyone... As long as the flow from area to area is good, I don't think that this ship will ever feel crowded, at all. Well done Royal. I'll definitely be sailing on ICON in a few years after the pricing goes down & all the kinks are worked out, lol😂

I love those elevators. Not sure what the real name is, but I've started calling them smart elevators. I'm sure there's some clever programming behind them because wait times are significantly lower with these types of elevators. I first came across them on a Carnival ship. They really clean up the issues standard elevators have on cruise ships which have many floors and high traffic.

Most of us can easily afford this ship, some people may struggle to. Nevertheless this is record breaking pricing. They started increasing pricing for Oasis class by like 33% starting in December 2022 and only kept going up after.

it is not up to you to complain about the pricing.
price too high? boohoo unlucky but that doesn't mean it's a terrible ship and you can't be mad at the prices
the ship is priced like that so rcl can make a profit off it, and if they don't they'll lower the price. however what's more likely is that they will still fill every sailing.
the demand determines the price. getting everybody to not go on the ship WILL lower the price, but then everybody again would want to get the bargain pushing the price back up.
      simple economics, laws of supply-demand.

Thank you for getting this video put together and out so quickly. I have the Star booked, but am anxious to hear reviews once people begin sailing Icon. Personally, I think the décor and look found on the Symphony looks better than what I am seeing in this video. The Icon just feels / looks bare as compared to the Oasis class. Central park looks like it has less plants and the Promenade looks like it will be too loud to enjoy with the open concept. The surf Side does look better than the Boardwalk though, and I think the aqua dome is what sells this boat. Lets hope RCL wakes up with some of these add on prices for activities... no other cruise line charges for ropes course, etc. RCL needs to be reeled back down to Earth... hopefully before the Star hits the water in 2025. Please people, refuse to pay $1/second for some of those activities that are free on competitor ships. We can force RCL to be fair, but it starts with our wallets.

@@traciebradley6891 I saw everything I wanted to see except for maybe a minor show or two. I don't care about shopping or water park (water was too cold except hot tubs) or alcohol or gambling and didn't visit speciality restaurants on that cruise but I don't believe in paying for speciality restaurants unless they are truly unique for the Milwaukee metro area. Others might feel differently.
Ice skating was good but the rink was so much smaller (to skate) than it looked--made the shows ever more impressive.

I booked a guarantee stateroom, it's balcony ocean view on Deck 14 but the price was worth it less than $4,000 for me and Husband. It's under Celebration Table so I hope we won't hear much noise, but we are not staying in the room unless to sleep. Looking forward and time will tell if this was a good choice but this price from what I see on social media might be worth it. Wish us luck. Celebrating my retirement so its all good🙂!

I really don't like central park compared to prior versions. Its looks very fake and plastic compared to the oasis ships. The decals, plant wall, and the shutters are too cartoon-y and there's far less plants.

    • @shaunnabagel

@@leggomyweavo of course, but all the color was a bad choice, in my opinion. I do like the painted murals on the ceilings but very much dislike the shutters. Personal preference. The color makes it seem more “fun” and family/childlike and less sophisticated and elegant, which perhaps is what they are going for.

Finally escalators! They need to start doing more escalators on these mega ships…Central Park was my favorite area on the oasis ships, now the colors of the shutters are tooo loud… don’t like that it looks like more windows instead of balconies.. surf side looks like it will be a very loud area… I’ll be staying away from that whole section whenever I get on, years from now 🤣

Balconies in the Central Park sort of sucked. There were annoying bird noises, a lot more noise than you would expect, and not much to really look at. I was excited for them and then disappointed by them and I feel like most people would be.
