- Monitoring Endangered Species of Beetle Using Pheromone Lures (Natural History Live)
Natural History Live by Deborah Harvey
This talk will describe how using chemicals produced by the insects themselves can be used to monitor endangered species of beetle both in the adult and larval stages. The use of pheromone lures to detect endangered species is a non-lethal and highly targeted means of monitoring these sometimes very difficult to observe species.
Deborah Harvey works on developing pheromone lures to monitor species of rare beetle species across the UK, using volunteer citizen scientists to help.
