    Great tutorial! I would highly recommend too install smart socket to power on/off charging of the tablet and keep it charged between approximately 40-80% charged via an automation. Otherwise very high chance that always fully charged battery will die very quickly. Had 2 tablets failed, one nearly cracked the screens due to swollen battery.
    I am using Fully Kiosk Browser Plus on all my wall dashboards. Very future research Browser with motion detection on/off display and many more useful options!

      Thanks mate 🙂 Yes, very good point with the batteries, and in fact the Lenovo tablet has a feature that detects "always plugged in" mode and modulates it for you so the battery stays 40-80% charged.

    Nice install, but I'm going to say the wall mounted one in the office is going to be a nuisance. Every time you want to interact with it you have to get up and walk over to the wall, which is why a desk mounted solution might have made more sense in an office setup. The other thing to consider is controlling the charge of the batteries. Probably keeping them around 60% makes sense. You'll kill them pretty quickly if you keep them at 100%.

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  3 месяца назад

      Thanks mate. I am not the only one using the office, and the tablet is mounted where we walk through the most, so it works well for everyone. I am not always at my desk either, so I did think through where to place it ☺ You are right though, that you should place the tablets where it make sense. With the batteries, Lenovo has a clever feature where the tablet realises if it is plugged in for extended periods of time and then only charges the battery to 60-80%, as to prolong its life. 👌

    the screenpinning software is quite nice as you wouldn't need kiosk apps anymore, hope it still works with apps to automatically close/turn off the screen.

      The kiosk apps still offer a few more features, such as not having Chrome crashing 😂. You can also use the camera for motion events to turn it on and more. Overall though, pinning works just fine for me.

    Hey, thanks forv a very detailed video.
    I didnt really get what you exactly did after the installation of Kioskmode from HACS.
    Yoe have explaned the settings, but how did you manage to make it valid for a dashboard?
    The second is: the tablett is whole of the time on the power thru the cable.
    Its nit very good for the batterie, isnt it?
    Do you use something to interrupt the power to let the battery work, and after that to go back to power?
    Thx

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  6 месяцев назад +1

      For kiosk mode, I am simply pinning the Chrome browser, which makes it stick. You need the pin to go out of it.
      Lenovo tablets have a smart charging feature, which means it charges to between 60% and 80%. Definitely don't want to charge them all the time.
      Thanks for watching 😊

    Great video and much appreciated! I am having an issue with Kiosk mode. I downloaded it from HACS but when it runs on the tablet it isnt in Kiosk mode. Are there further steps to get this to run other than just downloading it? Also, to make the address bar in Chrome disappear by saving it to the home screen isnt working. Is there another way? I followed exactly what you did over and over but the address bar refuses to go away.

    • @LarsKlintTech

      Have you added the
      kiosk_mode:
      hide_header: true
      To the dashboard's raw editor at the top as shown at 15:25?
      Regarding the address bar, I am not sure why it doesn't work. There are actual "kiosk apps" run can download and buy too, which have more features such as wake on camera movement and more.

    There's an app called Wallpanel which can do everything and without being so much hassle to set up

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  Год назад

      That looks really good! I might have a play with using that, as that could address "always-on" problem with screen wear/burn-in and more.

    • @pegobua
      @pegobua Год назад

      I can also recommend the app Wallpanel. I'm using it since years with no problems. If you enable the face detection the screen goes on automatically if you stand infront of your tablet. If no motion is detected, it goes completely dark and also helps to save energy (and the livetime of the tablet). It also enables some neat sensor that can be integrated into home assistant via mqtt. So give it a try - it's worth the effort. BTW: you should set the max. battery charge (SOC) of your tablet to 70% or 80% - the battery will thank you ;-)

    Hi Lars. Thanks for the video. I read somewhere else on the internet, that there is an issue with the combination between the P11 and the frame from Smarthome mount. The frame should cover for the motion sensor, which means that the tablet doesn´t react on movements in kiosk mode. Do you have this issue?

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  11 месяцев назад

      Good question. Afaik the P11 doesn't have a motion sensor, so I don't think that is a problem. I certainly have noticed anything that didn't work. I used one of the tables for some months without the mount before I made the video and I never noticed a motion sensor then either. Have you got a link to the issue?
