Revi M Fadli Thanks! It was my original intent to use the rotating sector plate as a staging yard. The realization it could be use for classification came to me later.
Hi Dave found your old vid of a train turntable puzzle. I have a very successful 5-road traverser at present but looking to replace this with a rotating train turntable. A quick question...... how might I upgrade the rod/tube mech to remote/electric operation? Cheers, Bob
Bob, the first thing that comes to mind is some kind electrical pin or wiper. The contact could be at the end of the sector plate and route power only to the aligned track, or the contact could be on the center pivot shaft like a traditional model railroad turntable.
@@DavidBarnkow Thanks for reply Track feed is not the issue it’s more about getting the chosen track to line up remotely viz so I don’t have to go down that end when I’m the solo operator. Wondered about a solenoid operated bolt? Cheers, Bob
What is the distance to pivot point? Love this idea!
The whole module is 4 feet long and 1 foot wide. The turntable is 42" long, leaving a 3" anchor plate at each end.
Instead of a single sector plate at the end serving as the switch, you simply turn the whole layout. Brilliant

Originated with Peter Denny in the 1950's for his Buckingham Branch Line.
The famous 'Denny' Fiddle Yard Turntable, designed and built by Peter Denny in the 1950's for his famous Buckingham Branch Line.
Thanks. Historical references are always appreciated.

Bob Hordern Look in to how guys using stepper motors are indexing turntables.
