If you follow my channel you know I work with a graphics pen tablet 99% of the time for all music production, sound design and editing work. Gaomon sent me their M1220 Graphics Drawing Tablet so I can test it and give my honest review. In this video I go over some pros and cons and why I think it makes a great budget tablet. Coming in at just $80, the GAOMON M1220 is a real competitor to the popular Wacom brand. Watch the video to see what my thoughts were after testing it for about 4 weeks. The GAOMON M1220 is an excellent piece of drawing tablet. Though I haven't tried XP Pen pro. But the Gaomon is in par with a Wacom like I mention in the video. Wacom is the biggest brand for these kind of tablets.
@@MattiasHolmgren To tell the truth I was undecided between the gaomon m1220 the Xp pen pro and the Wacom intuos s / m. I think I'll take the gaomon as it has more frets than the wacom intuos s / m, and as I really like the accessories it comes with. I hope not to regret this choice! :) In any case, congratulations for the video and for the explanations you give, very professional :)

Do you know by any chance a sketching software (free if possible) which can turn hand drawn lines into real straight lines automatically I mean like while I'm drawing from A to B it should detect that I meant to draw a straight line. I'm not into drawing myself I want to use a tablet for teaching maths. Think coordinate system and stuff like that 🙂
In affinity designer: Press the pen at some point on your canvas. Then draw a line while holding shift. The result will be a perfect line. You can also press at one place on the canvas. THen hold shift and press at another point on your canvas. And the app will draw a straight line between these two "dots". The iPad app Pro Create is excellent (the best IMHO) at straight lines (and shapes). You draw a line (or circle) and hold the final point for a brief moment and the app "suggests" a straig line (or circle, or some other shape) depending on what it analyzed you were going to draw. It works perfectly! You can also setup grid systems in Krita, Affinity Designer (and Pro Create on iPad) so it's easier to make systematic drawings perfectly aligned. Hope the info helps!

M1220 is a great tablet IMO, especially considering price / performance. I honestly don't know / see that much of a difference except that m1230 seems to have a pen holder attached to the tablet. And it has three more function keys on the top right corner. And a slightly different look. Ask Gaomon for further diff details. Thanks Fati!
Hi David, the GAOMON M1220 works perfectly fine in all DAWs, but I get some weird behaviour in Bitwig if I try to move a fader / knob slowly with the pen. In Logic, Ableton Live, FL STudio it works flawlessly. I will post to GAOMON, but it might be how Bitwig handles tablet input data. ANyways, it's something that interferrs with the data when moving slowly and the fader / knob "locks"-briefly even though I'm moving continously. But after moving a short bit it looses and starts moving along with the direction of the pen. So you get a bit of jagged behaviour in Bitwig. But as I mentioned it works perfectly fine in all other DAWs. You get VERY smooth fader / parameter movement in Logic. Love it! That said, the missing multi-touch feature is a downside since I'm so used to that.

step by step on how to set it up properly plus what programs

hi, great video! was wondering, can pen mouse be used for drawing? can you do a review on that?
Hi, thank! 🙏🥳 What do you mean with pen mouse? Do you mean a tutorial on drawing with a tablet pen? Like the Wacom, or this Gaomon?
@@MattiasHolmgren No, I mean pen mouse. There must be one good enough to draw with.

Yes indeed!
I am considering this tablet. I am terribly afraid of pen lag. Is there any delay present? Thanks.
No delay whatsoever. But it takes a bit of time to get used to using a pen tablet. I can’t live without the Wacom though!☀️😄

U are welcome. The M1220 felt as comfy as a Wacom. Only thing I felt it was lacking was multitouch which is essential once you used it. 🔆
