My mom raised me eating a lot of ethnic foods because my family roots reach all over the globe but I SWEAR halva and baklava are the best!
There is a popular treat from Mexico that is similar to Halva, and it is called Mazapan. The difference is that mazapan is made from peanuts, not semechki, but still very good I would recommend it.
There's also an Argentinean version of the mazapan, the Mantecol, also made from peanuts. Excellent stuff. Boris would love both, don't you think?

This cooking tutorial was literally what I needed! Halva is like, my favorite Russian treat. Georgia is a former Soviet country, so it still has most Russian foods as it's traditional ones, like Halva, ''Blin-s'' or whatever those Russian pancakes are called; Semichki (sunflower seeds or whatever) are also really really popular in Georgia. I eat them as snacks almost every night while reading or watching movies.

You can also do this with sesame, if you can’t find sunflower seeds in your area. It tastes completely different, but it’s the same idea, and both are still amazing.
