I was at this race. These cars were so insanely fast and loud when up to full song you needed some ear plugs to get through this race. The racing for these open wheel cars at this track was just phenomenal because they could draft, run 3 wide and sling shot pass when the track surface wasn't worn out.
Great race, you should feel pretty brave to compete in the race after one of your colleagues has passed away like the unfortunate Paul Dana, he was too young to die,
@@henrygandy3883 Indycar never learned from the Weldon crash. They made the same mistake again at Fontana in 2015, fortunately without serious injuries. And now Pocono was dropped from the calendar also. Wilson's crash could have happened ANYWHERE, and Wickens was just a freak accident...
@@Yoshik379 They need to redesign the catch fences, they're so dangerous when a car gets into them, surely they can reinforce them more, with more bars and reinforcing arms on the outside, hell don't a lot of tracks leave the first couple rows of seats empty anyways to reduce spectator injury and deaths.
Was Paul Dana's spotter blind or what? 9 seconds after the crash and he's still going full speed while other cars are slowing down. Absolutely useless.
u realize these cars can't break in corners, dana was in a corner when the crash happened, he hit the other car around 17X miles not 210 so he slowed considerably, just was not able to avoid the sideways car blocking the road...
The report is that his spotter warned him but we all dont know why the car didnt slow down. Possibly a car failure or maybe he couldnt hear his spotter... We will never know :/
@@paulsonj72 I know that. I'm talking about before he hit the debris. Spotter and Paul had time to acknowledge the crash ahead. When he hit the debris, the car should've been way slower than that
RIP Paul Dana
dan wheldon is solid class

Also when Greg Moore lost his life in the crash at Fontana, he also went away before his time.
Oval racing back then was so good. Unfortunately with Dan’s death they got scared to race like that again.
I disagree,It was the formula of "Pac Racing"at that time at the ovals.

Rodolfo Gonzalez? SMH
You mean Gonzalo Rodriguez, Marty?
He predicted the future. Rodolfo Gonzalez became a driver in 2015 for Dale Coyne.
