Homestead was literally built for the championship. Perfect weather, season ends in Florida where it began, and track is modeled after old Atlanta, which for years hosted the season finale race before Homestead took over. Thanks for the memories, lets have one last good run.
We didn't have the best sendoff, but its whatever
Phoenix has action anyway.
@Hammerhand not everything is oval's.
You were saying open wheel's didn't want to use homestead. They werent trying to end emselves. Just didnt want another oval track on the grid.
I’ll never this lore: “The season begins in Florida, ends in Florida.”
True
www.change.org/p/nascar-fans-fixing-the-2020-nascar-schedule
Andrew Huynh Whats wrong with ISM? I think change is good especially considering the dying state of nascar. The radical package changes have brought viewership up so why can’t radical schedule changes?
@@jackarmstrong7285, because it's not a good place to crown a Champion.

ah yes bring back the sad memories of the should've been 7 time champ jeff gordon
Carl Edwards would've had a couple championships as well had it not been for the stupid chase. Another case of Carl Edwards getting screwed over by NASCAR, no wonder he retired early.
Ill never forget 2014. So much pain watching the final race and seeing Newman in Jeff's spot.
@@nascarisinmyblood24 The pinnacle of why it’s the most despicable playoff format in the world.
Newman did not do shit to contend for a championship. Ever.
You Gordon fans really want nascar to give gordon 7 championships 6 years after his retirement don't ya?
@@RolePlayingGarchomp445 oh hey rog
this was a fantastic tribute to the era, you nailed this one my friend.
I will miss Homestead being the finale.

The 2004 race was the first ever NASCAR race i ever attended. Seeing that tire come off in person is something I wont forget in a long time.
I remember watching a that race growing up, I remember Kurt Busch losing a tire and when he went on to win the championship, I booed at him.
Who ever decided ism is the championship race should be fired immediately
Whoever decided there should be a "championship race" should be the one to be fired immediately.
And then you can fire the person who moved it to ISM.
Rb Gardner / Cactus king auto club is my home track wish they would have a night championship race
Rb Gardner / Cactus king where do you want it to go? There’s like 5 tracks maybe capable of holding such a race in late November when most of the country is in single digits.
@@richardn1181 Well, you got your wish. Brian France was arrested for DUI and possession of oxycontin last year. Soon after, he resigned from the CEO and Chairman position of NASCAR. Jim France-- his uncle-- took over, and has already been an improvement. He goes to the races and interacts with the drivers and fans in person. He also is trying to make big changes to NASCAR for the future to undo the idiocracy of Brian.
The decision to go to Phoenix is merely a test. They're trying something new, and since it's rumored that the championship race will be in Las Vegas in 2021 due to the awards banquet being there, it makes sense to try a west coast track. Of the tracks closest to Vegas that NASCAR goes to, Phoenix/ISM Raceway is the closest to a short track-- the most popular form of racing amongst NASCAR fans.
This video was basically just a Carl Edwards having a championship just slip out of his hand tribute.

Was a die-hard Edwards fan, hits ya right in the feels.
Carl Edwards has so many just skip through his fingers. While watching I thought the exact same thing
@@teebrown8683 just think too if they had the current points and playoff situation that they have now, back then, how many championships Carl would have gotten from that turd Jimmy Johnson
0:41 Damn... That photographer saw his life flash before his eyes with that wreck and fire :o
Going back to the video, I'm sad to see Homestead be replaced as the finale track. It's such a versatile track that's gonna likely work well with this package and works as a good driver's track while ISM is so aero-dependent track that works perfectly fine for the final cutoff race.
Homestead also just has that grandiose vibe to it that fits the finale so well. The race starting in the day time and the drivers racing into the sunset early on, as the season races into the sunset, and slowly sinking into darkness until you get to the end when the lights come on and the crowd is lively and active as they see the crowning of a Cup champion for the year. It all just feels right and is the right stage for the NASCAR finale.
I hope this leads to the finale being rotated and Homestead getting the finale again in the future but it looks unlikely. The ISM money is really boosting the track, as exemplified by the recent renovations and getting moved to the finale, which is likely going to keep ISM as the finale track.
I'm glad you made this video too. The track has seen a lot of great, historic moments and will be missed as the finale track.
When BFM and Iceberg post at the same and u don’t know what to watch
Yes
Watch Iceberg first
As a Homestead native, it’s a bummer. And with a championship 4 that’s had the same 3 drivers in it for a few years now is also a bummer
Because they are really good?
@@dylninfiv6275 No because NASCAR is rigged.
@@calebdunn7262
How in the living hell is it rigged?
10+ long year veterans means rigged?
the 2020 schedule is good except for moving the finale from Homestead. I think it’s the best mile and a half on the schedule
This made me wanna cry. I’ve been to 6 homestead weekends making it my 7th Friday. End of an era and whoever decided to change it is stupid. ISM will never produce that kinda racing ever. So sad to see it go.
Why cant nascar do anything right anymore, they had it perfect

Most likely the finale at ISM wont last long at all.
It could be at another 1.5 mile track

As a little kid, I always went to watch the races at Homestead-Miami
We’ll miss you Homestead
there is still a race there
mikey low I know, it’s in March
I remember when the last race was Atlanta.
Yeah, when NASCAR was actually relevant and exciting.
Thank you homestead for all the memories as the championship 4 finale
It will be strange not having Homestead as the final race, but it seems to be time for some change. I'm loving some of the changes to next season. Never been this excited for a new season to start before.
Damn. This hit me in the feels more than I expected.

Homestead was good for the Finale but I would like to see a new type of Championship where they hold the Championship Race at a new Track every 2 years (and maybe even a Road course.)

2013 was the only time I went to a NASCAR race, which was Homestead! The experience was PERFECT! It was so good, I never left the seat the whole race! The racing, the (real) championship battle, everything about it was perfect! Championship Weekend at Homestead will be missed...
For the people that are very concerned about Phoenix as a championship race next year, I do not think it will be a permanent track to host the season finale. I heard something on Race Hub about having various tracks each season as Championship Weekend back in April. Remember, 2021 will change big time, so who knows. I am not sure if it's 100% true, but who knows what can happen.
Imagine Darlington for the championship!
GFORCE VLOGS
1. Remove the playoffs, bring back the chase or pre-2004 format and I’m in🤣
2. It’s better off on Labor Day weekend
3. Who knows🤷🏻♂️
I wonder how much they'll drop the price of Homestead tickets since it'll be on the same day as the Sebring Super Weekend. I'll miss Homestead as the finale, but it's about time for another track to host the final race to change things up. Especially since next season the playoffs will be more focused around short tracks. Though I hope moving the finale to ISM raceway will create some urgency and make drivers drive more aggressively despite the high downforce package which has hurt the short track racing.
@Ethan Weeter The low downforce didn't get bad til teams relied more on side force than downforce. The current package was pretty good w/intermediates and near (if not) perfect on superspeedways. The only tracks they'll need to clip them to about half its size is short tracks, road courses, & Indy.
The instrumental version of Three Days Grace's first hit single at the beginning grabbed me.
Whoever chose ISM as the finale deserves to be slapped full force
What In Carnation? And be kicked in the nards.
Shot and pissed on
Should have moved it somewhere else. Other than homestead
That’s my home track and I still agree with you
Bristol night race Championship edition...
My first exposure to NASCAR was the battle for the win between Mark Martin and Greg Biffle in the 2005 race, I was three years old. I’m 17 now and still a huge NASCAR fan. If it weren’t for that great battle between Biffle and Mark, Homestead, and my dad channel surfing, I would’ve never have become a NASCAR fan
As a big Edwards fan, this hurt me on the inside so many times
Wow. That made me far more emotional than I anticipated. Thanks for making this video. I watched almost all of those moments happen live. Thanks for the memories Homestead.
Ironically, They've swapped the Coke Zero 400 with the Brickyard 400. The last time Daytona was run late in the year was back in the 1990's, but that was due to the Wildfires.
It's a shame we won't have Bestwick to call the last Homestead finale 😔
chipsnever957
I'm 100% with you there!
Y isnt he
He hasn't called motor racing since ESPN gave up the Indy 500 to NBC. I would love to see Allen back in the NBC booth.
Jimmy Johnson is the Michael Jordan of NASCAR. A true competitor AND decent, humble person deserving of all he has accomplished. I hope he gets his 8th championship in his final year of 2020 and sets the bar for decades to come. Then maybe Rowdy can make his effort at unseating Jimmy. :)
"YEEEEEEAAAAHHHHHH BABY WE'RE GOING TO HOOOOMMMEESTEEAD" - Jeff Gordon in his final season
But he never won more championships after Jimmie Johnson arrived as full-time driver.
Homestead itself is an end of an era. Shame the best finish was a true end of an era win the old points and Bobby Labonte's last win and the end of the Winston Era

Wow the emotional impact was very strong well done @blackflagsmatter
As a Tony Stewart fan, the way that 2011 championship ended for Carl Edwards was heartbreaking. He deserved at least to win a championship. Too many times he was so close yet so far.
Some of the most beautiful moments from 3 eras of cars over the years but only one thing will remain
:The legendary moments
Greg Biffle had Homestead figured out.
no, Roush Fenway Racing had homestead figured out
Tony Stewart was the only Cup Series driver to win in the flat and banked versions of this track. He also won the first two Cup Series races there in 1999 and 2000.
This hit real hard in the feels
The copy of old Atlanta will be missed as the finale
Being from the UK and only discovering the sport in 2014, I have seen the last 5 races here and its honestly in my top 3 for tracks, I will be sad to lose the tradition of ending the year here that I was getting accustomed too!
