It's such a versatile track that's gonna likely work well with this package and works as a good driver's track while ISM is so aero-dependent track that works perfectly fine for the final cutoff race. Homestead also just has that grandiose vibe to it that fits the finale so well. The race starting in the day time and the drivers racing into the sunset early on, as the season races into the sunset, and slowly sinking into darkness until you get to the end when the lights come on and the crowd is lively and active as they see the crowning of a Cup champion for the year. It all just feels right and is the right stage for the NASCAR finale. I hope this leads to the finale being rotated and Homestead getting the finale again in the future but it looks unlikely. The ISM money is really boosting the track, as exemplified by the recent renovations and getting moved to the finale, which is likely going to keep ISM as the finale track. I'm glad you made this video too. The track has seen a lot of great, historic moments and will be missed as the finale track.

Jim France-- his uncle-- took over, and has already been an improvement. He goes to the races and interacts with the drivers and fans in person. He also is trying to make big changes to NASCAR for the future to undo the idiocracy of Brian.
The decision to go to Phoenix is merely a test. They're trying something new, and since it's rumored that the championship race will be in Las Vegas in 2021 due to the awards banquet being there, it makes sense to try a west coast track. Of the tracks closest to Vegas that NASCAR goes to, Phoenix/ISM Raceway is the closest to a short track-- the most popular form of racing amongst NASCAR fans.

It will be strange not having Homestead as the final race, but it seems to be time for some change. I'm loving some of the changes to next season. Never been this excited for a new season to start before.
Homestead was good for the Finale but I would like to see a new type of Championship where they hold the Championship Race at a new Track every 2 years (and maybe even a Road course.)

@ The low downforce didn't get bad til teams relied more on side force than downforce. The current package was pretty good w/intermediates and near (if not) perfect on superspeedways. The only tracks they'll need to clip them to about half its size is short tracks, road courses, & Indy.
2013 was the only time I went to a NASCAR race, which was Homestead! The experience was PERFECT! It was so good, I never left the seat the whole race! The racing, the (real) championship battle, everything about it was perfect! Championship Weekend at Homestead will be missed... For the people that are very concerned about Phoenix as a championship race next year, I do not think it will be a permanent track to host the season finale. I heard something on Race Hub about having various tracks each season as Championship Weekend back in April. Remember, 2021 will change big time, so who knows. I am not sure if it's 100% true, but who knows what can happen.

My first exposure to NASCAR was the battle for the win between Mark Martin and Greg Biffle in the 2005 race, I was three years old. I’m 17 now and still a huge NASCAR fan. If it weren’t for that great battle between Biffle and Mark, Homestead, and my dad channel surfing, I would’ve never have become a NASCAR fan

I went to Homestead in 2013 to see Juan's last full season start and Johnson's 6th championship, and I was living in another country at the time (thanks mom) I know live near ISM Raceway, and unless some modifications to either the tracks or cars are made to make the racing better, I might as well not attend
i'm happy the race is being moved from miami-homestead. there's too many 1.5 mile tracks on the circuit as it is. they should change or reconfigure those stupid plate tracks too. throw the plates away and put a chicane in the back straightaway. more road courses like road america and run the boot section at watkins glenn.

The 2nd is pretty simple: NASCAR needs to try something new.

I live in the Phoenix area, so I'm biased because it's close now. I also think the racing will suck unless they spray the "track-bite" another groove lower. But, the best thing about ISM hosting the championship is....Phoenix is a world class city where everything is new. And there's hardly any hillbillies here. Plus you won't have to deal with Florida. You're welcome.

The 2004 race was the first ever NASCAR race i ever attended. Seeing that tire come off in person is something I wont forget in a long time.

I live in the Phoenix area, so I'm biased because it's close now. I also think the racing will suck unless they spray the "track-bite" another groove lower. But, the best thing about ISM hosting the championship is....Phoenix is a world class city where everything is new. And there's hardly any hillbillies here. Plus you won't have to deal with Florida. You're welcome.
