One of the most iconic and influential albums ever, Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ continues to find new audiences globally. The album was partly developed during live performances, and the band premiered an early version of the suite at London’s Rainbow Theatre several months before recording began. ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in the US on 1 March and then in the UK on 16th March 1973. The new material was recorded in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road studios) in London. The iconic sleeve, which depicts a prism spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie. ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ has sold over 50 million copies worldwide

“No one told you when to run. You missed the starting gun” cosmic solo. ❤😢
Exactly
I get goosebumps from it
don't spend too much time in life crying over those who hurt you or don't love you for God loves you every minute every hour every day if God is for you who can be against you
"The sun is the same in a relative way but your older. Shorter of breath and one day closer to death" one of my favorite lines ever
Yea brother me too
My favorite line is "No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun." Honestly it's kinda relatable and it opens the way into the solo so it's my favorite line or lyric or words ever. Kinda.

That line in particular makes me cry every time. Because lately, the nostalgia of my childhood has been hitting me really hard and I wish so desperately that I could go back. I am so grateful for what I have had, but wish I could have understood how precious time was in those moments. I love this band so much.
A song about time and death and how nothing is permanent ended up becoming a track that will never die or fade away. This thing is eternal
It most definitely will be immortal

Dark Side of the Moon will be played at my funeral in its entirety . Bless you all !!
Not too soon, i hope.
Going for the "Gunner's dream" from the final cut.....but I respect your choice o7

A daughter at 58 - congratulations, Charlie Chapplin would be proud of you.
Ooooo, Endless River is such an underrated album.
Yeah the emdless river that all of us will going through
I’ll be 60 in September, I’ve got a 17 month old daughter. I’ve often wondered what it’s gonna be like later on
I'm the youngest of 12. I'm 54 now. My father was born in 1917. So I knew what I had by having a father old enough to be my grandfather. All of the wisdom and skills that my father passed on to me is priceless. That could not of happened if I had a father who would have been considered age appropriate to someone born in 1970.
I was a teen...still know all the words...67 now!
Spring Chicken. I remember hearing this in '75.
You are the coolest lady in existence
The older one gets, the more they identify with and appreciate this song.
Yes...I just got chills when I read your comment because it's so true...
I listened to this album for 40 years, singing all of the lyrics, before I ever really understood the depth of their meaning….
I was 13 when this came out. I'm 63 now. It's totally true.
🔥
The wonders of music and the meanings behind it
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

This is my alarm clock song. Never gets old or dull. 😎🎭✌️
My dad loved this song, listening to it makes me feel like he and I were by the warm fire in the cool weather only hearing the fire crackle the last time I saw him for the accident. Something told me I would not see him again, but of course I ignored it and thought it was a ridiculous thought. Surely he’d live a lot longer and I’d have so much more time with him right? No, it’s been almost two years now and I still can’t handle the reality that he’s gone. He was everything to me. He knew me more than anyone else did because I was just like him. But sadly we all come short of realizing time is limited and not everyone has the same amount of it. Stop worrying about the past and stop worrying about the future, all that is in your control and what you should be focusing on is the present. Enjoy every lasting moment because it could be yours or someone you else’s last. I hope everyone one gets a chance to listen to this song, it’s one of the absolute best songs for the soul.
I'm so sorry for your loss. And thank you for your beautiful words. The little silver lining I think is that the ones we lost can live on when we hear a song such as Time... with the tick tock between verses a quiet reminder of our own limits. ❤
It’s weird, I had the same thoughts and feelings when my dad died. As if I knew he was going and that was the last time I would see him, but powerless. Odd phenomenon.

My favorite song from this album... 🖤
Same with me
How did they come up with the name?
Now at 55 this song has so much more meaning. Absoultley powerful! How a bunch of young guys could feel this blows my mind.
The target audience for this song keeps getting younger and younger. Songs about getting older are hitting hard for people in their early-to-mid 20s in the current climate, in which the youth aren't endowed with the same fortunes and hopes as the older generation. A lot of today's 25-year olds are living with their parents, yet to find love and acceptance and struggling to make ends meet so they can save up to move out of their homes.
Dear commenter, you are incredibly lucky to have grown up in an era which has allowed you to experience the amenities of adulthood head-on. In that regard you made the start just fine.

At 16, this song makes me remember that my life is, in fact, finite, and I'm spending them in a way I'm unhappy with. This song is also a semi-inspiration, and it gets me to do the things i want, such as learning this song on guitar
Do yourself a favor and spend time with old men. Volunteer at an old folks home. You want to know what life is like, just talk to those people. Pink Floyd nailed the flavor of it, but the flavor is not the taste.
Only do what makes you and others around you happy, the time does indeed go too quickly.
Best give up kid. You're fucked. We all are
When this record came out I was 19. Mesmerized more by the music than the lyrics, now in my 70s I see they were very prophetic. I’ve been lucky, missed very few starting guns. But you only get so many chances so be ready. Good luck on the guitar.
At 16 life isnt short, but at my age the time left is.

Fifty years ago today, music changed forever.
Pink Floyd’s career demonstrated that you don’t need fancy guitar work, hundreds of keyboards, the singer screaming their head off and charging all over the stage, or controversial antics - all you need is talent. And all four of them had it by the lorry load. Never equalled or surpassed, never to be repeated.
That is the undeniable truth! Most amazing energies pour from these gentlemen. Musicians on their own level. I've searched for many years and cannot, have not, found their equal. Lots of great music out there, but not like Pink Floyd. They are amazing. Period. 💗
