There are many authors and many types of books. In total there are 25. Hector Lozano - to give you a name. I saw the series (Merli_ Sapere Aude) on Catalan television and I want to see how different they are.
The new shelf looks great! I have heard nothing but raves about A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW. I really need to get to that one. I've been thinking of tackling THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. I need to start on those classics I keep saving for "someday." The problem with translated works is that there are multiple versions in the same language. (Which never really occurred to me until I started searching.) It's hard to figure out which to choose when you don't know the original language at all. The more I research, the more overwhelmed I feel. I'm starting to joke that it might be easier to just learn French and Russian! I read JANE EYRE for the first time just a few years ago. I was surprised at how much I loved it. It's one of those that I hope to keep rereading as long as my eyeballs hold out. I had always assumed it was a sappy romance, which is not my thing. Thankfully, it was not overly focused on that. It was more of a character study of someone who went through much hardship and pain and managed to hold on to her dignity and sense of morality. I found it inspiring and beautiful. She is the kind of person I would like to be. Jonathan from Words in Time praises FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON. I really want to read it. But I hear it's sad. I don't think I'm in a place where I can handle that right now. But someday! Honestly, I can't understand how adults with full time jobs (that are not RUclips/Booktube), who have families and other life responsibilities can read over 100 books a year. Real books, not comics or short / kids' books. And READ, not "listen to." It just doesn't seem physically possible. I used to wonder what was wrong with me. Then I remembered... it's not a contest! Read as much as you enjoy and don't compare yourself to others.
Do you have a Goodreads account? I enjoyed your review of Covenant of Water - probably my favorite book from last year as well. We seem to have similar tastes and a lot of overlap in books I plan to read as well.
Done! I thoroughly enjoyed Middlemarch and I also saw you had The Wager and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow on your Goodreads list. I highly recommend all three!
Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are apparently making it into a movie. Always kills my motivation to read the book if I end up seeing the movie/show first (All the Light We Cannot See, The Book Thief, Where the Crawdads Sing, etc.)!
