In this show, we ask Vijay Prashad about his recent take on Palestine, especially the attempts made by China to bring different Palestinian political groups together. We have also asked Vijay on his latest book on Cuba, co-authored with Noam Chomsky. We have discussed Venezuela in the context of the recent election. We asked him for his take on the recent developments in Bangladesh after the fall of the Awami League government. We have discussed the new dossier by Vijay and others in the Democratic Republic of Congo. And we end this conversation with a discussion on nuclear proliferation in the context of Pacific islands.

Ndiyo! I'll even go further and call them US/UK hate speech mongers. They think Kenyans are dimwits that can't make up their own minds. But this mindset comes from the fact that there is a very corrupt political class there. The young generations wouldn't stand for that nonsense anymore! Hence the current situation there now. Twende!

Thank you for having Mr. Vijay Prashad on your show. He is my hero.
China does not have an India problem; India, however, seems to have a serious China problem. Chinese media never bother to talk about India, but Indian media are never tired of talking about China’s problems.
I wish India had more scholars and thinkers like Mr. SL Kanthan, Mr. Pravin Sawhney, Mr. Vijay Prashad and Mr. Raja Mohan. They are the hope for better India-China relations. But I have to be straight forward and honest. Unfortunately, there are too many dumb idiots like Samir Saran. India is a big dreamer and beggar. It tries so hard to show the U.S. and the West that India is a very cheap weapon against China and is begging so hard for the West to help India’s economy. However, India’s elite don’t give a shit about the people at the bottom and it would never be able to achieve what China has done for its disadvantaged population in the last 40 years. It is a shame!
Modi’s visit to Moscow and his meeting with Putin is a sign that Russia is winning the war in Ukraine; otherwise, Modi would not dare to appear associated with Putin under imminent pressure from the U.S.
I really don’t understand why politicians in the West like to talk about war with China. China brings hope, peace, prosperity, construcción, human dignity to the world, while the U.S. stokes conflicts, wars, regime changes, destructions and fears. India also likes to talk about how bad China is, as if it can be very useful for the U.S. One Indian woman so-called international relations expert said in one interview on an Indian television talk show that Russia should know that China may not always be Russia’s friend or partner, it could one day be a big threat to Russia, but India will always be. It reminds me of what Joe Biden told Putin in their 2020 meeting in Europe, that Russia should be aware of potential Chinese trouble along their over 5000 miles shared border. Now we know who is the real threat and who is a friend in need to Russia’s existence. India has never won anything in its fights against China. Now, Modi goes to Mosco to kiss Putin’s ass, as if India were essentially relevant in the geopolitical entanglement among the world’s superpowers. But the world knows India is nothing but a useless idiot, an opportunistic prostitute. India could be a great partner with Russia, with the U.S. and with China. That would be beneficial and advantageous that no other country would enjoy; however, India is willingly and voluntarily being used as a vassal state in the geopolitical contention between the U.S. and China. In the end, no one would trust India to be their reliable friend or partner.

Reportedly, Chinese leaders are modifying their deals made with some African nations. Instead of Chinese built projects, Africans are encouraged to study in Chinese schools to learn how to build it themselves & thus know how to maintain it as well. Desired fiber-optic data cables connecting areas in a nation will be created by Chinese educated Africans. Some 5000 are proposed but the program has begun with those who have enrolled so far. Thus, China is encouraging human infrastructure & enhancing human resources within the nation. As these African nations enter the digital cyber world, they will be attuned to China's global 6G network which is fast coming online.

Really appreciated this talk. What happened in Bangladesh was a color revolution though, which is easily determined by looking at the alignments and funders of all of the parties involved, including the "student movement" itself, which was a product of US NGOs. The problem with the left in Bangladesh imo is that there is a deep antipathy toward Awami League due to a variety of reasons, but in particular the effects of the Sino-Soviet split on the relevant parties (which is something that the left in Bangladesh is deeply marked by due to the country's birth in relation to Pakistan and India's connections to China and the USSR, respectively) along with the Awami League's populist and big-tent character. Regarding the former, China backed Pakistan in the liberation war and promoted instability in Bangladesh after the war through leftist parties influenced by it, and even some of these were involved in the assassination of Mujib, which was plotted by the CIA but exploited broad discontent in the country from the harsh conditions that followed the war. The pro-Soviet factions got deeply confused in the aftermath of the liberation war, which the USSR supported, as the USSR-supported Awami League was simultaneously backsliding on the principles of liberation by becoming closer to the US's humanitarian and financial systems to deal with the aftermath of the liberation war while also taking advice from the USSR on political maneuvering. This in general discredited the more sensible (imo) pro-Soviet groups, with the ultimate backstabbing being Ziaur Rahman's killing of Taher after Taher helped free him in the aftermath of Mujib's assassination, and the creation of the BNP that followed. The drama from these events, at the beginning of Bangladesh's liberation, up until this point has made the traditional left in Bangladesh overly critical of Awami League while underappreciating the Islamist movement and the US's ability to manipulate the population through the tremendous NGO apparatus that has dug into the country since even before it became Bangladesh. The key issue is a misunderstanding of the balance of forces in Bangladesh and the strength of the Islamist movements there, and an underappreciation of the broad influence of the US in almost every facet of Bangladesh through the deeply entrenched and rooted NGO structures.

9:34 China “wants to be the country of peace.” I wish Vijay would address the many human rights violations of the Chinese such as their treatment of Uyghur people or their take over of Tibet in this context. I agree that they ‘seem’ to be better than Western countries, but I think that the ‘realist’ perspective of Meirsheimer would eventually kick in which is that “great powers will obey international laws until their security interests are stake and then they abandon their principles.” As Meirsheimer I wish it were different, but I don’t put much, if any, hope in BRICS… except as a counterweight to the atrocious, hegemonic madness of western neocons who are behaving like Nazis.

Mearsheimer? Really? You take his 'realist' claims at face value? They're nothing more than cold war ideology repackaged for the unsuspecting. If you were really a socialist or simply anti-imperialist you wouldn't be quoting Mearsheimer.
As for the propaganda campaign on China's supposed human rights abuses, you realise they've been thoroughly debunked by various independent journalists, activists, including the UN themselves. Where have you been? And what channels have you been watching? Because the information is out there. Why are you waiting for Vijay to not answer a random comment on YT? Sorry mate, but you need to get out of that echo chamber.

no struggle is ever won by equivocation. if u really cared you would have long done the minimal critical work required to debunk the Uyghur slander. but since you clearly couldn't be bothered you don't really care that much, do you

The West view what is happening in the Middle East and Africa as an existential threat. They are trying very hard to maintain their hegemony and increasingly looking to expand it into central Asia. To do that, they have to weaken Russia (hence the war in Ukraine) and overthrow the Iranian government. And Israel serves as their bulwark. China, Russia and Iran should have become involved more directly but for reasons known only to them, they didn't. At the very least, they should have assisted in an effort to limit Zio air superiority. They didn't. And sadly the locals are paying the price.

Did someone shoved a rag in his throat and made him to talk ? why is he talking like that? Cant he just talk, ask in normal accent ?
I bet that is not his normal accent. Why though ?

I thought maybe because is Bengali. But sometimes due to insecurity or something I noticed Indians in America put on fake American accept just to hide their original accent. But sadly English is just a language no one should feel insecure.
