as a med student, we are taught ethics and law as well as health communication and you can actually complain abt that physician! beneficence is one of the 4 pillars of providing health care and obviously he's being a grinch abt it
Hey Annabelle, thank you for doing December dailies :-) I've watched each one of them (some twice!) because they're so soothing. I don't know why there's always a sense of familiarity and home when I watch your videos even though I don't know you personally. And it's not your worst vlog and it's not boring! I think it very well captures a precious peacefulness in the mundane. I know there's always the online pressure to create exciting, content-packed vlogs especially when viewership is concerned but I love the homeliness of this humble and modest video collage. Wishing you a happy week ahead ❤
Seeing you spend time with your cats made me tear up. I had to say goodbye to our cat Tiger that we had for more than 18 years. I saved him from the streets when I was still a child and we basically grew up together. We had such an intimate bond, he would jump on my lap when I cried, we would go for walks through our village, I even taught him some tricks. He was my oldest and best friend, but we had to eventually let him go. He was going blind and deaf and his organs started to fail. I didn't want him to suffer, but boy was it hard to let him go. I can't imagine Christmas without him... I'm going home to my family tomorrow and it will be so strange not to have him around.
Tyler can understand Chinese now? Because he really showed that gift, LOL Healthcare workers among other human service workers are taught how to communicate from the get-go. The way hes acting is not acceptable! Sue him or let the board give him a warning or he should turn in his license.
I rarely comment but as a healthcare provider myself, that doctor needs to work on his patient interaction skills. I'm sorry he was so rude to you, your grandma, and grandpa. The first thing we learn is the importance of communicating with patients and making sure they are comfortable while providing the best care. Is it possible to switch providers or complain? Also, 阿姨白头发或黑头发都好看!今天的vlog里面的外套也很美!愿你身体健健康康!
You're making me wish I pursued art, or even became skilled enough to apply for art school. It's incredible how many people say "Art school is useless," and so if you're me, you might believe that... But I watch your videos as well as Cup of Jasmien, and the truth is that you have SO many skills and you gain the ability to do a wide array of different projects. You're always making something out of nothing. The things that you can create are so cool, and often practical. (Thanks for reading my essay.)
I am so pissed this doctor was acting like that! He has no right to, and you have all the right to be bothered about it. He is a doctor! His job is to be compassionate and empathetic towards his patients... mannn Anyways, tell your grandma she’s pretty always :-) Also, this vlog was uploaded yet in a perfect timing for my study break. You’re December daily’s are my favorite for all. It’s keeping me going for finals week! Thank you. I really appreciate it 💪🏻🥰🥰
Hi! I’m finally on holiday myself, your vlogs have been keeping me hopeful for the last impossible week of school! I wholeheartedly hope you have the nicest holidays this year and that they only get better every year! ❤️ Edit: in my mind, there is no reason for you to think this vlog is not entertaining... at this point, your following cares much for you, even if we are strangers, and seeing little snippets of your life is sweet, your family is so cute!! And you said it yourself, these vlogs matter as material your family and yourself will watch for the rest of your life, you should be proud of being able to fit filming and editing into your schedule! Many people wish to be able to and don’t do it. Happy holidays!
“some people are just freaking assholes” omg i relate to this and i understand this 100%??? pls omg i rly dislike people that can be so difficult for just like a moment???? i get that, thank you for the lovely december daily videos! they get precious more and more, seeing you happy with your family
my cat luna especially loves meowing to go outside regardless of the weather!! even if it's raining or snowing, she'll step outside for a few seconds before coming back inside...only to start meowing again several minutes later!!!
hey annabelle! i know from a few previous videos that you're going through a lot but i'm glad that you're able to find happy times and moments throughout each week that goes bye. i'm wishing you a merry christmas, and know that we all love you and support you with all our hearts
Enjoyed your video as always! I used to live in the Bay Area so I recognized all the places you were at (except for Tyler's work -- all those tech campus look the same). My husband and I moved to Hollister 3 years ago and sometimes I miss the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley but the quiet of the countryside is really nice too! If possible, get your grandmother a new doctor (preferably a female doctor since I find male doctors tend to blow off the concerns of older women). I had the same problem with doctors for both of my elderly parents before they passed away. In my experience, some doctors feel "you're old, you are going to have aches and pains that can't be helped, medicare doesn't give me much money so I don't want to spend a lot of time with you and you are not going to do what I ask you to do anyway so go home and find your comfort in your family -- btw, here's a pill." It is a hard and unforgiving truth that all of our bodies will fail us in many small and concerning ways before our time here is up. No one quite understands the fear that comes with that truth until you live it yourself. When I consider my aging experience, I wish I had been kinder and more patient with my parents. I did not fully understand the fear and the feeling of helplessness that comes with aging and how we sometimes look for anything (like a doctor's opinion or an internet search) that will give us hope that all is well. Sorry for being a downer during this holiday season, but we (the younger and healthier) need to be our parents (or grandparents) advocate in these matters.
okay here are some thoughts I had throughout the video: - feeling sad for you and tyler when you guys said goodbye, esp that footage of you in the car :( - laughing out loud when you meowed at your mom - feeling nostalgic hearing the chinese language - wanting to roll my eyes at the sassy physician (oh c'mon), but oh well thanks again for a lovely video Annebelle! sending lots of love
I'm gonna start med school real soon and hearing experiences like these really motivates me to be really kind and empathetic with my to be patients because someone's health especially an older persons health is not something to be sassy about. Also, I really love your December dailies and I wish you good health and lots of happiness in the coming year💛✨🌻
"I ended up kidnapping Pumpkin... but of course Pumpkin didn't want to stay" Basically how kidnappings/catnappings work 🤣🤣 Oh my god, that doctor was a total AH. It'w so strange that he says he is not allowed to recommend a vitamin when the question was about the possible molecule interaction/compatibility in association with your nan's health issues 😩 I am happy that I don't have this problem here in France. Hope everything will turn out fine with the scan🙏🏾
Hi Annabelle. I am one who has to visit doctors often due to chronic illnesses and I have learned that 1) finding doctors with a good bedside manner can be difficult and 2) you have to be your own health advocate or stand in to be that for others loved ones. With all insurances, it is as simple as going to their website and looking for another doctor near you. Think of it this way, there is nowhere to go but up from the sound of his ill manners. Although he hasn't done anything medically or criminally wrong, there needs to be a feeling that he is invested in the care and wellbeing of Grandma. He should make the environment one that she would feel comfortable divulging intimate medical concerns. The doctor wont learn that his behavior is unacceptable until he has an empty waiting room. Grandma and other dissatisfied patients can teach him that lesson by finding other providers.
it was so lovely seeing your whole family in the last vlog, now I‘m really excited for this one! thank you for always making my day! sending you lots of love from berlin (right now it‘s 07:39) 🥰♥️🌼✨ p.s. when your grandma said it‘s just one time for you to eat her food with meat in the last vlog, I felt that, always happens to me with my mum ! 😂
i love your effort to be zero waste. You, your family and loved ones seem so lovely. Love your interaction with your grandma in these last few vlogs hehe i relate! happy holidays :)
Hi Annabelle! Love your family vlogs 💖. That doctor was so incredibly rude and I do think he was in the wrong. Your question was totally valid. Some medications can't be taken with certain other medications, and also some can be harmful for people with certain conditions. But what you can do is call the pharmacy where your grandmother gets her prescriptions and ask the pharmacist. Hopefully you'll get the information you need more politely there. Anyways hope everything is well with your grandma 💗.
wanted to comment to thank you for making these! I love watching your vlogs when i want to relax or unwind. my mother watched with me this time and wanted to say she LOVES your cats and she thinks your face is perfect.
That doctor was unnecessary snarky, I'm sorry you had to deal with someone like that :( but I'm glad everything's okay with grandma! It's important not to dismiss any pain, so it's good that you'll check on that too ♡ This was a lovely vlog! I particularly liked the music in this, and the wrapping looked incredible! I'm tempted to try it out too! 🎄 and don't worry, not all days have to be packed and not all vlogs have to be mindblowing. This is actually one of my favorites of your Decembers! It's good that you put it out, even if you felt a bit Ehhh about it! That's growth and im proud 🌸 Have a lovely weekend! xx
I can't believe you edited out your answer about whether you'll stay on the east coast or move back to Cali! I'm dying to know what you'll do!! And you're way more chill about the doctor situation than I would be. I admire your cool head. I would have been very huffy about it which probably isn't the best. But you're right: he's an asshole!
thank you i really appreciate your videos and wise advice on life. Wish i could actually meet you, that would be surreal. Greetings from Belgium, Giulia :-) ❤️🌸
Merry Christmas Annabelle and to your family as well. We don't celebrate Christmas, yet you bring such a sense of merry and joy through these December Dailys. Have a great time!
im so inlove with your videos annabelle, i've been watching your videos since i was in junior year and you were still in your dorm. ahh time flew so fast, you make me calm by watching your videos,, love you
annabelle, i love you and your videos. you should definitely tell someone about the physician's behavior, it is unacceptable for a medical provider to behave in such way!
I've been watching your videos for years and I've never let a comment, but I've gotta say man, that you deserve to report that doctor. Doctors shouldn't be like that, and I can only imagine how many people he's treating so terribly
I don't agree that the doctor didn't "do anything wrong", although I understand you trying to sympathize. Being a primary care provider you need to take care of your patient physically, but also treat them with respect. People in the comments are talking about learning ethics in med school/communication, and that's crucial to being a doctor, as well as a human being! As being a doctor is his profession it should be stressed even more because he's getting paid money to do his job, and here he is being disrespectful and rude!! I think it's the right thing to report him, because if it's not the first time then it means he doesn't care, and probably treating all of his patients like this.
I don’t understand how anyone could purposefully be mean for no reason, let alone people who deal with the general public. Like you have no idea what people are going through, you have no right to be an asshole. Ugh that boils my blood, especially because you and your grandma are angels
That's a horrible situation, you should contact the reception and see if there's someone else you can talk to. Because he might be giving that same attitude to other patients.
I’ve also had many unpleasant doctor experiences, they always made me feel very rushed, like get in get out onto the next patient, but I suppose that’s just American healthcare🤷🏻♀️ I love that idea of wrapping gifts with brown paper and steam! I wish I a steamer now lol
I think is really hard to find a doctor, but if he does his work right that's just his personality. But if he doesn't then it's just money not well spent
I personally will just not go to a doctor like that. Being brilliant in his field doesn't excuse him from being a jerk. I just have a low tolerance for people like that.
The situation with the doctor is not okay at all! It’s more than just them being an asshole, as a doctor they have the patients life potentially in their hands with the way they treat you, for them to disregard you and your family is abusive! You went to the doctor because you’re supposed to trust them and their knowledge but that doctor sounds like he’s unable to do their job so it should def looked into cuz they could eventually cause bigger problems by being so disrespectful :(
If your grandmother's doctor was being so snippy, what if he's taking that same attitude to her medical care? I think if it were me, I would shop around for someone more compatible, and possibly complain about this guy to the local medical board.
I'm studying in health (occupational therapy) and that is not a personality clash, that is an asshole. That doctor is in a privileged position of power, and behaving that way has massive impact on whether people continue to engage in medical care, or will engage prior to major issues. Not good. Here in Australia all medical students are required to take a really intense entrance exam (in addition to usual application requirements!) that assesses three areas, including interpersonal skills. You have to achieve a certain mark across all areas. And, at least at my uni', you have to interview to be accepted into the program. To vet people like him out. ...Ugh. That makes me so mad, for you and for all the people he's scaring off of getting care.
i hate shitty doctors... my last one would show me celebrities with the same condition as me as if it was gonna help me lol changed my doctor though! i’m a lot happier now
No you don’t have to live with that doctor! A doctor can be fired by their patient for poor care, and that includes his attitude. A doctor that doesn’t care enough to be polite and respectful makes me question how much they value your grandmothers health. It sounds like she’s just another set of numbers to him. (I’ve grown up in a healthcare setting/family)
I'd suggest leaving a review of the doctor on their page (if there's a website for the clinic, or on google reviews!!) There is 0 reason for him to be nasty towards his patients!! They're the reason he gets paid and has a living! I hope he isn't doing this out of racism towards you and your grandmother😡
Dude he owes you medical care! If he isnt doing his job right you are absolutely entitled to be angry and leave or find a new doctor ESPECIALLY when chronically sick or as an elder! Doctors are not above letting tests slip, not prescribing responsibly and being negligent. I have had terrible things happen to my health as a direct result of terrible and unprofessional doctors. One time I was given Xanex because I was having trouble with sleep and slight anxiety. Was told by the creep to take it EVERY HOUR. I developed a terrible reaction and addiction in a matter of days. I'm not trying to scare you, but he does owe you something, do not be afraid to stand up for yourself!
You need to look into switching to a different doctor. Since he's constantly not respecting you or your grandmother and doesn't even talk to you, then he doesn't deserve your time nor your money. I hate it when health care professionals lack the care or interest in the actual peoples' lives they are supposed to be caring for. If they want to give subpar service to people under a few minutes then they need to switch to a different job. But yeah, they're human
as a med student, we are taught ethics and law as well as health communication and you can actually complain abt that physician! beneficence is one of the 4 pillars of providing health care and obviously he's being a grinch abt it
TELL YOUR GRANDMA WE THOUGHT SHE LOOKED GREAT IN THE OTHER VLOG! 💖🌸💕
tyler surprising you with flowers after you come back from the airport... so kind 😭

Exactly!
How anyone could ever dislike your videos is beyond me! Thanks for another beautiful video
had a tiring day today. watching this to unwind. thank you for your relaxing and sweet video diaries, they bring me temporary, yet fulfilling joy.
2:55 is the most wholesome friendship chitchat in a car though haha
it was so lovely seeing your whole family in the last vlog, now I‘m really excited for this one! thank you for always making my day!
sending you lots of love from berlin (right now it‘s 07:39) 🥰♥️🌼✨
p.s. when your grandma said it‘s just one time for you to eat her food with meat in the last vlog, I felt that, always happens to me with my mum ! 😂
i love your effort to be zero waste. You, your family and loved ones seem so lovely. Love your interaction with your grandma in these last few vlogs hehe i relate! happy holidays :)

Your sustainable wrapping is so beautiful! It inspired me to do this with my presents :) Happy a happy holiday!!
hi annabelle, thank you once again for blessing us with a december daily
hi annabelle i'm here early and just wanted to say to you and your family merry christmas and have a great rest of your holidays
Your beautiful red wintery vibe made me put on red lipstick too, even though today is a travel day (finally going home for Christmas)
That doctor was unnecessary snarky, I'm sorry you had to deal with someone like that :( but I'm glad everything's okay with grandma! It's important not to dismiss any pain, so it's good that you'll check on that too ♡

I love your beautiful vlogs so much! They feel so genuine ❤️

Aw, so cute ur grandma wanted to look good for the vid. My mom would do the same and never wants to be in photos when she's not ready lol
im so inlove with your videos annabelle, i've been watching your videos since i was in junior year and you were still in your dorm. ahh time flew so fast, you make me calm by watching your videos,, love you
4:59 that used to be my favorite song (i think 6-7 years ago) but suddenly forgot about it. 🥺
You're parents are so precious❤
annabelle, i love you and your videos. you should definitely tell someone about the physician's behavior, it is unacceptable for a medical provider to behave in such way!
Please tell me where did you get the orange coat? So cute!,
Maaan missing my crush grazy right now after seeing you saying bye to tyler 😭
You make me happy ♥️ in response to that last part :)
I've been watching your videos for years and I've never let a comment, but I've gotta say man, that you deserve to report that doctor. Doctors shouldn't be like that, and I can only imagine how many people he's treating so terribly
I guess we know where you've got your creative side from :)
these keep me so motivated to do things lol :):):):)

Georgia Zetsidou well with an attitude like that it might prompt him to do things halfway and lackadaisically 🤷🏽♀️
It makes me said when. U and Tyler seperate , she needs 2 find amother doctor no 1 should be treat like that
You need to look into switching to a different doctor. But yeah, they're human
also I have a slight hunch the physician is a racist and that's honestly just sad
He did everything wrong! And that’s a person who supposedly dedicated his life to save lives/provide wellbeing etc., ugh, what an ass 😩😩😩😩
these are getting more and more intimate..... almost feels voyeuristic
يع
