For the knife crime one, idk if Robin is joking about the having more population thing... but that's what the "per million people" thing is there for, to remove the size difference and compare rates instead. If he is joking... damn he sounded serious 😂
The funny thing, though, "per capita" actually favors small countries. Example, say a country with half a million people had a single school shooting one year, they'd have 2 school shootings per million. The US has 300M people, so to reach the same rate they need to have 600 school shootings that year...

3:57 that reminds me of everyone on my Facebook feed saying the high school in one of the nearby cities has cat litter in the bathroom for the furry kids. I asked which school as I use to teach. Lo and behold it was a school I still know someone at. I asked them and even asked the admin and they both said no there is no kitty litter in the bathrooms. They do, however, have nice little tables with drawers for students who need sanitary supplies. Why people lie about this stuff is beyond me.
Why do people lie about stuff like that? The most simplest answer is that it's because the whole right wing ideology and identity is built on lies, mis/disinformation and lies and lies and lies and lies and lies and even more lies. That's all they got, lies.
13:32 "Compote" (com POHT): a mixture of fresh or frozen fruit and sugar that is then "cooked down" until it turns into a sauce-like consistency. Use medium-low heat and never stop stirring. Typically served over something else (ice cream is my favorite choice, pancakes or waffles are also a good option). If you look at the fruit concoction on Strawberry Shortcake ... THAT is compote (the whipped cream doesn't count)... with the exception that the Strawberry Shortcake fruit concoction is typically not cooked down into a sauce, it's just blended.
Compote is a type of fruit dessert that is basically (in the very simplest terms) a really jam-y jam. I think of these fruit type concoctions as a spectrum going catsups -> jellies -> jams -> marmalades -> compotes.
On the BAC question, I hit a 0.57 and very nearly died from it. Did it once, and NEVER again. That was the most terrifying week and a half of my life - that whole time I thought I might die. The night it happened I tried to exit a car that was going 70 mph. Then I spent two whole days puking up everything I had ever eaten, and the whole week after I had to wake up every 2 hours just to prove I still could. 1.06 would kill Andre The Giant. Unless that person has some medical mystery going on inside them my suspicion is that they survived a 0.16 BAC, and that's drunk, but not near dead.
13:07 how you Immune and still get Lung Failure? Doesn't sound very immune to me... That's like saying "Oh yeah I'm immune to Snake venom but didn't stop me from having chronic blood clots afterwards"
The rabbies thing, I think was only cause they basically got as close to cryogenically freezing a person as possible to slow the infection enough for their body to fight it off. Its highly likely to just kill you or for you to still die from the rabies infection. I believe the amount of successful cases can be counted on one hand.
24:05 as someone who reads a ton, i can see why it seems believable just based on speed and time spent reading (although i have no clue if that avg is accurate, idk these things), however where the heck would they find 800 books to read? And if they are reading that many, how have they not found longer fantasy series such as Wheel of Time ora Tale of Malazan Book of the Fallen? If they read that much, its not like the long series with long books will be that daunting, but they'll still take more than 6 hrs to finish. And where are they getting the money to buy that many books anyways? Most books are like $5 min, which translates to around $12.5/day or around 4k/year on books. At minimum. And on top of spending 6 hrs a day reading, apparently he also has the time to find at least 2 new books a day (or i guess he could reread) and go to his job or school or whatever.

13:20 or overly friendly. When a wild deer for example gets close to you and is acting very calm/ friendly leave. Don't pet it, just go. Wild animals don't come to you for pets or whatever, don't touch them. And report that animals behavior immediately!
This drives me crazy when people talk about petting/feeding wildlife, particularly raccoons as they are big-time rabies carriers. You don't even have to be bit as it's in the saliva.
@@stanleyhape8427 Exceptions to make for deer and racoons that are urban whose normal behavior IS to go "oh hey a walking food dispenser like I have near home!" I can’t find many reliable sources on Aura Quartz, but, from what I’ve gathered, both titanium and platinum are used to make Aura Quartz, as well as other metals like gold and silver. The BAC response was correct. There has only been a total of 6 ever recorded cases of a BAC of 1.0 all of which ended in alcohol poisoning all fatal. A BAC of .5 is the start of entire body shutdown.
There's a Brobible article that says that someone did in fact have a 1.6 BAC and lived. But yeah, given that a 0.4 is lethal normally, there's only a few people to get above it and live. Of those, only about a dozen or so it seems have been a .8 or higher, and of those only like 7 of them have lived
Large dogs will take one chomp and let you bleed out, likely giving enough time for help to arrive. Small dogs will make strategic incisions in vital areas in rapid succession, effectively killing you 9 to 12 times before you hit the ground.

The one at around 7:35 to 8:10 is really easy to explain and very likely true. Lots of abusive parents go full 1984 on their kids online presence to the point of installing illegal spyware on their home networks (unprotected spyware accessible by anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together) that monitors their activity and even sometimes goes so far as to record a video of the screens of every computer in the house and turn on every internet accessible camera such as webcams and record that data too (it's uploaded to a cloud server so the files don't get stored locally these days). The kid was probably forced to say very nice things about their parents online or get beaten half to death. It happens a lot, particularly in the united states where such things are quasi-legal (minors have the right to privacy by law but many states and districts ignore said right for the 'protection' of the children and thus parents can get away with invading their privacy without fear of legal retribution). As for the alcohol one at 9:15 to 10:15 is complete bs though. If they really did drink all they claimed, they'd have a bac of about 1.27 (not 1.06) by the end of it, which is universally fatal and not even medical intervention can save them. Anything over 0.4 is typically fatal but the patient can be saved with medical intervention, which is how we even have instances of bac over 0.4 on record. the highest survived bac recorded is, to my knowledge, about 0.9. Also it's literally not possible to drink for 12 hours and go over 0.5-ish (give or take depending on tolerance) because the brain will shut itself down in under half an hour to protect the body from further alcohol intake once you reach levels above 0.3-ish.

Ever wonder why big dogs are the friendliest and small dogs are the most aggressive? Like you never hear of a St Bernard mauling anyone but every Chihuahua seems to have a permanent aggro mode.
I feel it is because you are more likely to train your dog if a bite can rip your arm off, besides, the grumpy Chihuahuas that I've seen are owned by old ladies who will not train them
@@chiaralucia2411 People also respect the boundaries of larger dogs a lot better. (a mastiff starts growling at you? you're gonna stop and slowly back away.) With small dogs, people will ignore those same warning signs and laugh at them instead, ignoring what the dog wants and picking them up, moving them around roughly, squeezing them tightly, not letting them go when they try to wriggle free... If I was stuck living with people who constantly invaded my space and never listened to me, I would start acting aggressive more quickly too! I really like my personal space. 17:24 the entire point of expressing numbers "per thousand people", or "per capita" or similar is to eliminate population size as a variable. America just straight-up has a shitload more knife crimes per person than the UK.
At least in the part of Texas I grew up in, if you're bitten by a dog, and that dog has a owner, you get rabies shots and the dog gets taken to the vet for a three day hold to make sure rabies is not the cause. If it is the third incident of the dog biting then they are unfortunately put down, regardless of rabies or not. I can't speak to the rest of the world, or the rest of the United States, just based on my own experience when my mom worked for Animal Control, as well as when my childhood dog bit my then boyfriend. Any animal bite is treated similarly, where if you have the animal or know where the animal was Animal Control and sometimes the sheriff is called to locate and retrieve the animal for the hold.
That is obviously that cartoontrope, where the the cute little friendly baby slowly lulls you in and makes you feel safe, just for its mama to sneak up behind you.
At 17:21 - no, because the numbers quoted are per million population, not a total number per country. The difference in population size is irrelevant, and it wouldn't even matter if both countries had less than 1 million population, the relative difference would be the same.

The kitty litter conspiracy is actually cover for the real reason schools are stalking kitty litter: active shooter situations.

So the guy at 10:10 just walks around with a breathalyzer all night, randomly checking his BAC?

This drives me crazy when people talk about petting/feeding wildlife, particularly raccoons as they are big-time rabies carriers. You don't even have to be bit as it's in the saliva.

The thing is it doesn't matter who came up with an idea, if the idea is supported by the evidence we see in reality and predict events before they happen based on an understanding of the evidence we have of previous events, then that idea is worth working on regardless of who came up with it first..
Darwin could have been a wife killing, child eating, genocidal maniac or a complete saint who never hurt a living being, his idea would have had the exact same truth to it and so be just as much worthwhile researching...

For the record. Aura quartz is treated with titanium, not platinum.
I can’t find many reliable sources on Aura Quartz, but, from what I’ve gathered, both titanium and platinum are used to make Aura Quartz, as well as other metals like gold and silver.
Titanium is used to make Aqua Aura crystals, which is likely the stone in the post considering its lighter blue color.

The BAC response was correct. There has only been a total of 6 ever recorded cases of a BAC of 1.0 all of which ended in alcohol poisoning all fatal. A BAC of .5 is the start of entire body shutdown.
21:30 god I absolutely fucking love how Robin reads this like somebody going through an anime villain arc
13:48. My first thought was. "You put appricot in a petri dish? Unlikely"

I've yelled at other humans before for insisting on disrespecting my boundaries. I would totally growl and bark and bare my teeth at people as a dog if that was the only way to get them to leave me be.
