In 1960 I was 15 years old. My two favorite nights were Friday and Saturday nights when my favorite programs came on TV. Grew up in Southern California. I had a difficult time growing up and TV was my escape from the problems I faced.
It doesn't matter what movie or if he's a god guy goodish probably bad Villan I am definitely a fan of Peter Lore. My favorite ones are with Vincent Price especially if Alfred Hitchcock Directed them. 😁👍.
Every time I remember Peter was a guest on "Rawhide," it makes me want to write an Old West themed story with him as a (less evil) main character. Unfortunately I can't come up with anything original! There were sooo many westerns that it feels like I'm copying something. I still want to try, though.
Do it! It's probably just the feel of the formula/trope that looms over us. Let it loom. Besides, Peter deserves a chance to play in a Western in the 1940s. Or a musical Western. :)
What could've been, yes. While this one remains impressive, a stand out performance for Lorre when they were dwindling. I just watched for the first time. Waytago Rawhide!
Even Shakespeare claimed there are only a half dozen plots. All stories are variations on a theme. That's why we are so impressed when something new and different comes along and we give them Oscars.
As a retired educator whose mom was also one and a writer as well, I want you to write as well. You can do this! Research your own ideas and brainstorm with close family and friends who care. Then proceed to create and flesh out your characters.
Peter Lorre everyone's favorite slimy villain! He was a wonderful actor who played the first serial killer on film and in turn the Interpol detective, Mr. Moto. RIP Mr. Lorre.
Hi He was so great in Rawhide.Hard bitten but honest and fair. I think Clint Eastwood ( Rowdy Yates) took over his screen persona to launch his own film career soon after Eric had his untimely death in South America!
At 41 years old Eric Fleming was making a film in Peru when his canoe overturned in a river. Fleming was swept away by the strong current. His body was found weeks later pummeled by rocks in the river and ravaged by Piranha.
This episode from Rawhide was a serious part for guest-star, Lisa Gaye, who plays Peter Lorre's daughter. Like the rest of the prisoners on her father's estate, she too is kept prisoner with little or no life outside of her house. John Agar works errands for her father and it is his love for Lisa that keeps her from going insane. Lorre's evil character is eventually brought to book and the end offers promise, hope and happiness for Lisa and John plus total freedom for the prisoners. I was hoping that this episode would be colorized eventually, but seems all hope is lost.
Oh, I think 🤔 it must have been Mrs Morgan instead of Mrs Gordon. How sad if that’s her husband and he’s still alive and they killed her before she found him. 😢😢😢😢🥺🥺🥺
He had agonizing gallbladder issues, got addicted to morphine and rapidly gained 100 pounds. Died from a stroke at 59, four years after this 1960 episode was filmed.
I. Sa. These. Western. Before. It. Is. A. Gold. Howdy. Movie. Just. Perfect. 🎉🎉🎉🎉💯💢💥💫💣🗯💣🗯💣 ps....rust. in. Peace. Clint. Eastwood. Wie. Will. Never. Forget. You. 👋💛🤠👍
Thank you from a Peter Lorre fan.
Don’t forget Casablanca!

Water pressure at walls to see Rawhide again. We loved it then and we love it now. Thank you for presenting it to us. Keep them coming.
Great show!
Thank you Mr Lorre . You were under rated as an actor. You were great in the
Mr. Moto series as well.
Underrated my azz
I'm surprised at how good this is. It's a really complex little drama with great acting.

Old Peter was a fine, outstanding actor!
Momma had some 78's a few were Frankie Laine , as a kid in the 60's , one was called Mule Train sounded like Rawhide to me.
Peter Lorrie
I can't believe the stunt work done in this series.

I REALLY LIKE THIS SHOW
Eric Fleming (1925 -- 1966) was drowned when his canoe capsized in treacherous currents of the Huallaga River,, in the Peruvian Amazon Basin.
Rip

I loved him so much 😢 he's my favorite on this show so handsome I thought ❤
Enjoy it more now than the 1960 😊
Frankie Lane was unmistakable
At 41 years old Eric Fleming was making a film in Peru when his canoe overturned in a river.
Fleming was swept away by the strong current. His body was found weeks later
pummeled by rocks in the river and ravaged by Piranha.
That is incorrect that Erick Fleming was 21 years old when he died. He was 41 years old. However, the circumstances in which he died are correct. 😢
Thank you for spotting my typing error. @@winonamassingill7895
He did not say 21, learn to read before making a fool of yourself.@@winonamassingill7895
@winonamassingill7895
There were no piranha. His body wasn't found 3 or 4 days later.
😮
I thought something was familiar with one of the men who worked at the house. It was the actor John Agar.
Loved this movie
It's actually an episode from the TV series Rawhide.
Rawhide was a very popular western series in the UK in the 1960's. Shown on ITV.
Exposition implausabilities abound! Peter Lorre is always funny. (in a Danny DeVito sort of way or vica versa) : )

A bit far fetched, but enjoyable. Peter Lorre always added 'an air of menace'
I wonder if we ever find out if he knew Mrs Gordon’s husband.
Oh, I think 🤔 it must have been Mrs Morgan instead of Mrs Gordon. How sad if that’s her husband and he’s still alive and they killed her before she found him. 😢😢😢😢🥺🥺🥺
Well, it was Bradley all along. 😊😊😊😊
I could swear that is Clint Eastwood beginning @ the 10 min. mark. No one ever mentions his name so I guess that means no mention in the credits.
Cattle drives are too rough and tumble for me. Modern Cattle trucks and more local packing houses makes things better.

As much as I like Peter Lorre, it's a shame this was the best he could get from such a good show. This was the worst episode ever.
I am not militant I am and have been very serious about wanting and pursuiing liberation .
This was perhaps for its time(1960 and during the Civil Rights era) and may have been controversial indeed.
At 12min.:13sec. Is that a PYRAMID IN THE BACKGROUND LANDSCAPE????????? !!!!°°°
21min.: 13sec. Pyramid. Sorry typo error. PYRAMID!!!!
Just look at the ones doing the crimes they are not from here,!
Peter Lorre got fat!
All the health issues he's had that were mistreated by doctors, starting in the 1920s, caught up with him.
He had agonizing gallbladder issues, got addicted to morphine and rapidly gained 100 pounds. Died from a stroke at 59, four years after this 1960 episode was filmed.
I love this show, but this episode had the most ridiculous plot EVER..!

500 miles?!! That’s Bullshit!
