I have been a scaffolder for the better part of my life. I would love to work with Bamboo. Seems a lot lighter and easier to handle than the steel tubes we have to juggle with.
I have seen many bamboo scaffolders climbing without any safety. Is it normal for them to climb 7 floors. Man the way they do it so effortlessly, it was unbelievable at first when I saw it.
It is a very very common scenery in Hong Kong. Nothing so astonishing about ; in old days they use bamboo strips to tide and built the bamboo scaffold and one or two decades ago they changed to nylon strips which have been a great improvement. The truth is it really works and has been here ( Hong Kong ) for a very long long time.
l have worked as a bamboo scaffolder(dismantling only) for more than a year.We used a single lanyard safety harness around our waist like the way we wear belt and earned HK $450/day back in 1999 with free lunch and free Yum chha.Good old memories.
@roshan That seems like a great work experience, may i know which company did you work for and where was the construction project? Im applying for construction jobs myself :)
How many people do these nonprofessionals kill a year , because of human error , or equipment malfunction ? Hundreds? Thousands?!? Hundreds of thousands?

In Sri Lanka it is also used. Fear not, bamboo is extremely strong against parallel forces. if used quality bamboos, it will not fail because of bamboos but because of Nylon strings
We always have plenty of the stuff here in hawaii. Never really thought much of it as far as using it to make load bearing stuff until the day I saw some nalo dudes make and use a boom derrick with the stuff to get boulders out of a creek. That shit was WILD
Did you do a metallurgical test on some samples taken from the site? Or are you just commenting on what you saw on TV? You do know that it comes RED from the fabrication shop yeah? That is not rust.
WoW you would have to REALLY trust the workers before you who came and put together steel or bamboo scaffolding especially when 10-20 feet in the air would be dangerous enough, but going to be 100's of feet up where there's no forgiveness if a domino effect got started from just a few improperly tied sections of bamboo.
"Whilst also keeping its spidermen safe .... " . Wtf. No harness 300 feet up, lashing sticks together with shopping bags isnt, nor has it ever been, safe.
If I move to Asia , it will be to work with bamboo . I am 50/50 on the people . Worst human rights in the world . Good food . Some of the worst environmental abusers . Worst human traffickers . Shitty employers . Fuck it .I changed my mind . I will just buy some bamboo on EBAY and order from Sushi And Thai Restaurant .
The video was quite long ago and now there is law that force all scaffold worker to wear 'safety belt' (sorry I don't know the exact wording in English) in Hong Kong Employer and the worker who don't follow the safety guidelines may be fined by the Government
la que vale es las estadisticas de accidentes. lo que si es curioso es que a veces leo que no hay bambu para los osos panda, pero por lo que veo usan el bambu a lo loco, asi que deberian tener campos para cultivarlo...

How many people do these nonprofessionals kill a year , because of human error , or equipment malfunction ? Hundreds? Thousands?!? Hundreds of thousands?
Most likely not more than Americans kill in just everyday life.
Mostly human errors, yet Bamboo never fail us.
Non-professionals? Why dipshit? cause they don't use cup lock they're not pros?

jet fuel can't melt bamboo beams.
+Justin Jones no....it was poor quality steel......quit simple really......rush job when built.....all the rust proved it.

With great string comes great responsibility
no way in hell you could get me to do that. You know these guys don't need a gym membership.
this seems like another universe
i watched them for hours, the knotting seems to be the secret, always the same tying technique
its lighter but can it hold up a brick stack 4 loaded mud boards and 2 trowels...?
Wonderful. .
wehre do workers later walk on?
That's what I'm wondering too...
They just turn off gravity and float :)
Do they have an OSHA over there? How is this safe at all if they fall? Not tied off/etc.
Lol if it was unsafe they wouldn't be allowed to use it lmao 🤣😅🤣
Harnessing get in the way and slows you down
OSHA approved!!
Great video..and no,i wouldn't be up there..

don't worry Chinese bamboo very strong...
Peter Kinzio this chinese bamboo aint strong
lol rush hour
God forbid you have an off day because you aren't feeling 100% or maybe didn't get enough sleep the night before. Not a very forgiving environment.
Not to worry, in China there are 1,000 other people in line to take your place if that happens.
what platforms do they use on bamboo scaffs, not 3m planks surely
They use more bamboo just laid down.
@@fringestream990 I believe they dont even tie it to the structure underneath
No planks
If those plastic straps are reusable I think that's ideal
unlikely. theyre load bearing, and plastic deforms under load, so its probably not safe or practical to reuse.
Organik scafolding
Mad pandas is what I see
