In my opinion, EWC should come after the Stage tournaments, and before Champs. You can't have an event worth this much right after the event every pro puts everything into.
I think the reason why OpTic fans are upset with the viewing and talk around EWC is because we havent won champs in 7 fucking years. The year we win again and a random ass world cup event shows up and makes it to where OpTic didnt end the year the best team in the game. Since the CDL when you win Champs you are the best team for that game and everyone glazes you until the next year while all the teams try to come up with teams to beat you. OpTic wins this year and instead of us getting our gas and roasting everyone we gotta hear about this bs FaZe redemption shit.
This, and I'm not discrediting it as a chip that counts on your resumé. But the challengers teams were a flat out JOKE at the event, the non-champs CDL teams were also embarrassed on stage, so the result is basically a 8 team single elim bracket for nearly a champs prize pool. Faze beat Boston in round one of the bracket, it legitimately felt like a MW2019 homestand because all of a sudden single elim made it artificially interesting. Again I love the idea of another big time tournament, the timing and the format were just not it for me. They could have scrapped the pool play all together did double elim bracket and it would have been ok for me
I think EWC basically plays down what champs means. Playing a whole season for the big tournament should always hold more weight than a one off tournament at the end of the year.
I wish EWC was the first event of the new game. A massive showcase to drive hype and sales. And an exhibition for newly formed rosters that could create a second mini Rostermania for teams that crash out early.

The ego is insane because there's only 48 CDL spots. You need to study Dashy and Scrappy even if you're gifted because that's your comp if you ever make it pro... there's absolutely no excuse
1. I think this event is the same as a major because it had its own downsides. Server issues, different patch, smokes were different, single elimination. But it has similar prize pool to that of champs. SO the pros and cons cancel each other out to either make it the same as or just barely better than a major. 2. If the CDL only plans to have 4 majors a year, the EWC should be an MSI mid season tournament. Major 2 ends. Players get a month to relax/prep for EWC (international tournament). Then go to Major 3, 4, champs. This way the season is longer and the team at the end gets the glory they deserve as the best team at the end.

If it was a free agency discussion i honestly think both of them probably end up on optic/faze regardless of the fact that they just won events, you'll get your optic/faze offers next off season, you just have to have another good season which is expected

Unrelated to COD but I’ve been to Saudi Arabia before and when I went to McDonald’s and it was like a normal ordering process but what came out to me was just amazing and it was a gourmet burger with picture perfect look…

The conversation about which event is a bigger deal has been prevalent in regular sports this summer as well with the Olympics. And I think the EWC is a very good parallel for this discussion. For sports/esports where there is already a competition that players agree stands as the ultimate accomplishment, it will be hard for the Olympics/EWC to surpass that in terms of importance. No international footballer would say an Olympic gold medal is more significant than a FIFA World Cup win, and at the moment, no CoD player would say an EWC win is more significant than a Champs win. To go even further, there is discussion that the entirety of the Olympics themselves aren’t meant to be the height of athletic competition, but moreso serve as a friendly international event, especially given the restrictions on how many athletes can represent each county, the age limits, etc.. I could see EWC filling that role, although I’m not sure if that’s the Saudi desire.

These are two totally different competitions. League is league this is a World Cup it will have equal importance eventually. And they would have 4m pot if it wasn’t for the league. Optic were league winners and faze were the cup winners. Things like this need support and following to grow the game and its viewership.

I don't think these are big enough upgrades to Tor/NY to even bother making the change. Nero hasn't been consistent. Beans either. So you basically take 2 teams who are capable of winning a championship (they proved it this year) and swap it with players who have never won, and/or never proven to be consistent. To me that's not worth it, Tor/NY can only afford to make a move if it's a clear upgrade which those type of players aren't available this off-season
Faze just played better Sunday than Optic, but being realistic, Optic and Faze right now are the top Dogs to beat, they are in the same level, but in terms of legacy and prestige, Optic more than faze for the World championship they won.
Personally doesn't this feel like a game by game basis between optic and Faze Faze slammed optic in CW and this year And optic w Slammed them Vanguard and MW2. This teams have traded years just dominating eachother. There are both insanely talented teams.

We'll give you BenJ, but Trei and Rab have been pretty critical of FaZe. FaZe also won the tournament pretty dominantly while beating OpTic. The boys were fair, but appreciate the comment.

There were a few flanks and BP podcasts discussing it and having on folks like Hydra, Crimsix, Dreal, Clayster and others discussing it all, and then more stuff after the end of that era. Basically that he was quite toxic a guy and wasn’t professional, but he is hydras boy.

As a faze fan where were you standing pre ESC about a roster change. I think that's the most interesting part ESC plays in the rosters. NY for example were four maps from back to back rings and now are probably making two moves because of the world cup, without it they probably only make one or none. Faze had arguably flopped major 3, lost major 4 finals and flopped at champs, but ESC revived their mentality IMO, which is interesting because they probably don't make a change now

To me the drama is more than the GF bs, bringing heat onto your team if your teammates are not built for it can be unnecessarily stressful. I don't think it's night and day detrimental to faze specifically but I do believe they have the personalities where they would prefer not to be the bad guys every time they step out at the event. They'll still get boo's and people will want them to lose, but the "F you draz" and overall hatred draz has (thats definitely beyond in game banter/problems) could weigh on faze guys long term. But like we both said unless they are getting a Kenny/ghosty/scrap for draz they have to just deal with it

This event is definitely weighted less than Champs. Worth slightly MORE than a Major to slightly LESS than a Major is the valid range IMO. And that's where the boys have it pegged with their discussion
I agree with Rab and Duante(Sib). The tournament format has has to be double elimination or best of 7, single elimination is horrible. How is it that, let’s say FAZE as an example wins 2-0 in their bracket and loses their first semifinal and is ousted from the tournament that would be horrible for them

Faze just played better Sunday than Optic, but being realistic, Optic and Faze right now are the top Dogs to beat, they are in the same level, but in terms of legacy and prestige, Optic more than faze for the World championship they won.

I see absolutely no reason for it being a problem to hold it after champs. The only reason people are saying that os because their team didn't win. Every team jas a chance to win. If it matters them they all had the opportunity, if it doesn't end up mattering then who cares?
I also agree with Rab. Right now this event doesn't mean as much for fans and legacy right now to CDL majors. It's certainly is bigger in the money aspect. Maybe that changes over time. I think that after some time it will be like xgames.

EWC is not the culmination tournament of the year lol. It's not even greater than a cdl major. Lots of teams were just formed recently specifically for this event lol. Competition was super diluted. Lots of free wins. How is this even considered on the level of cdl events 😂.

@@chriscarter4563 there was all the stories last year of him being very toxic in the camp, and being really petty with the team, accusing everyone else of problems and not himself. There were a few flanks and BP podcasts discussing it and having on folks like Hydra, Crimsix, Dreal, Clayster and others discussing it all, and then more stuff after the end of that era. Basically that he was quite toxic a guy and wasn’t professional, but he is hydras boy.
The way I see it is faze had to win this event so they wouldn’t have to make another roster change after making roster changes every year.

As a faze fan where were you standing pre ESC about a roster change. I think that's the most interesting part ESC plays in the rosters. NY for example were four maps from back to back rings and now are probably making two moves because of the world cup, without it they probably only make one or none. Faze had arguably flopped major 3, lost major 4 finals and flopped at champs, but ESC revived their mentality IMO, which is interesting because they probably don't make a change now
@@mkwsoxfan i never thought they should make a change. it’s not 2019 anymore, the leagues pretty much as balanced as it’s gonna get for the next few years. teams are better. faze isn’t going to win everything it’s just that simple. they are not ahead of the curve anymore and that’s fine. that’s how it should be. shouldn’t be able to walk in and be a legitimate t1-2 lock (unless you’re clearly that good, which wasn’t the case most teams just sucked that bad💀). shits boring that way.

@@NavalSinatra available upgrades I agree there aren't any. Reasonably I think ghosty/Kenny or ironically scrap could achieve the same or greater effect on faze without the drama. To me the drama is more than the GF bs, bringing heat onto your team if your teammates are not built for it can be unnecessarily stressful. I don't think it's night and day detrimental to faze specifically but I do believe they have the personalities where they would prefer not to be the bad guys every time they step out at the event. They'll still get boo's and people will want them to lose, but the "F you draz" and overall hatred draz has (thats definitely beyond in game banter/problems) could weigh on faze guys long term. But like we both said unless they are getting a Kenny/ghosty/scrap for draz they have to just deal with it

Maybe an agreement with cdl to make it an official major/mid-season tournament. NBA just made their tournament the Emirates Cup. I can see something similar in cod

I agree with Rab and Duante(Sib). The tournament format has has to be double elimination or best of 7, single elimination is horrible. How is it that, let’s say FAZE as an example wins 2-0 in their bracket and loses their first semifinal and is ousted from the tournament that would be horrible for them
Teams need to be used to both formats. Win or go home. Every competitor understands that.
The way the CDL does “double elimination” is terrible because it doesn’t use a bracket reset.
