- A SUPERFAN spent over $50,000 converting his basement into the ultimate man cave modeled on a best-selling computer game. Despite wife Jill’s dreams of a swimming pool in the garden, Tyler Kirkham, 32, couldn’t be swayed from his vision based on The Elder Scrolls series of fantasy games, which features a $15,000 bathroom with its own waterfall and a secret door resembling a bookcase, activated by pulling one of the books. Alongside suits of armour, a crossbow and an alchemy lab full of medieval potions, the space features a $15,000 bathroom with its own waterfall and ivy-covered rock-face. He also fitted a $250 Italian crossbow, $8,000-worth of stone and masonry, stained flooring costing $3,000, suits of armour, an alchemy lab full of medieval potions and a $20,000 home cinema for playing the games on a large screen. Tyler, a professional comic book artist, impressed his friends, relatives and neighbors who love visiting to join gaming sessions in the man cave, which he has been building since 2012.

Can you imagine trading all this to swim in a pool once in a while? Man. I'd honestly trade ever swimming in a pool again in my life to have a basement like that. I'll just go swim in a lake or something. Haha

If I were you I would buy a piece of land (cheap), then I would start to build modular rooms. Full DIY.
This way you could build the place room by room. Once you got the money you build another room.
The moment it becames livable, you can rent it out air bnb style, and the income it would generate could be put back to the upgrades.

It's very refreshing to see other people do this to their home I themed the majority of my entire house based off of skyrim and some of the which are universe And it was worth every penny

As a European who is deep into medieval stuff, i feel so sorry for Tyler getting scammed in Italy to buy that "Italian Crossbow". There's nothing Italian about it. That's a typical "Made In India But Sold In Europe To Tourists" fake crap. Way too much stuff like that going around here. One rule to follow if coming here to buy medieval items is: "If you can buy it over the counter and /or if you can afford it, there's a circa 99% chance it's fake." If you want the real stuff, buy real copies that actually work. If you want genuine medieval stuff go to the acclaimed auction houses... and have your bank account ready cause the item is going to cost more than your trip here, no joke.

Highly disappointed. For some one that's a supposed super fan like him and with the cash and resources he most have he really decorated the room poorly. Are you telling me you'd rather get cheap Halloween props and decorations rather then looking on say Etsy for props that actually look like they're from the game??
