Please try a Sig 716 or Sig 516.......I have them both and they are VERY impressive. Super accurate--4 setting adjustable gas for shooting in adverse conditions and or with a can. Simple and reliable. The MCX has stolen the spotlight but the 716/516 guns are just solid and dependable in my examples. Thank's for another 9-hole review...
I'm loving it, still not completely sold on it over the M16A4, but it's close. I'm kinda screaming internally over which would be the better rifle. But I don't have the money to buy either, so I have some time to make my decision.
M16 is as good as it needs to be. It will shoot better than the operator @99.9% reliability. Anything 'better' is just weighs and costs more, with no practical benefit. The flattop is probably the single biggest improvement that's been made to the platform, since the A2 sights. You can afford a PSA build, that will be the equal of a used Colt A2. Mine, with a MOE stock, Umbrella Corp grip, round handguard and surplus carry handle, is about $375, all in. Just buy a cheap MILSPEC lower from someone, assemble it and wait for sales to finish it out.
Just curious, how do the Titan TD-415 uppers compare to the BRN4 and the genuine HK416? My google-fu says they were very nearly exact clones of the HK416 and gave equal performance. At least until HK hit them with a C&D.
Nothing to do with the rifle, which is awesome. Great shooting Henry. Josh looks like he's freezing. Every few seconds it looks like he's trying to suppress a shiver. Damp conditions, even if the thermometer doesn't really look cold can be miserable.
Ya it was cold - storm rolled and dipped the temp about 20 degrees from planned. Luckily I had some outerwear and gloves in the car...no pants though lol - Josh
I honestly don't think the 416 is more accurate than a DI rifle, since the Brownells XM16 replica had a perfect score (minus shooter error) out to 350 with 55 grain only to have trouble due to inadequate sights and you guys used 55 grain on your M4 videos with the inferior acog. Thoughts?
Almost every weapon at range around 350-400 m shows the first " MISS ".. in almost every videos of yours. Even after that is doing well to 600 even 800m
The hk416 a5 has a 11.5 barrel and adjustable gas block and the otb hk416 that almost le agencies that are usin them have have vented gas blocks that helps with the over gassing and shooting suppressed
For your consideration the Browning BAR Mk III DBM. It's seems like a big seller. I kept looking at it online at Bud's before Christmas. $1,300...I dunno....I dunno...GONE! Sold out! But, I cannot find any reviews of this mysterious semi auto in .308 on RUclips. 🤔 One of the few SA non-AR 308's. Browning if you're out there? Make my case to 9 Hole, please! As always, gentlemen. Great review. Thank you!
Between the increased reciprocating mass of the piston system and the fact that the 416 is over gased to begin with, the recoil increase is to be expected.
I have admittedly been disillusioned thinking that FFP is necessary for shooting at distance with a 5.56 AR, 500m is a fair piece in my mind, and it seems the Razor HD 1-6 GenII E does a fine job in this role.
People do get bent out of shape with FFP. It’s great on scopes like the NX8 where you have a daylight bright German reticle on low power and a nice LR reticle on 8. It’s also nice on a ~5-25 or other high power scope where you may honestly shoot at intermediate setting and still make use of the reticle. For a 2.5-10 or something I’m fine with SFP since I’ll either be shooting on the lowest or highest power.
Try putting your spotter over and behind the shooters right shoulder. Focus your spotting scope 25ish yards in front of the target. You will see bullet trace
Have you thought about taking a BRN-180 to 500 yards? That might prove interesting with the gas system (from which the -416 is derived) and lighter barrel.
Cleanest run I ever seen. For the Semi-Auto rifles. Indeed, good optic, good rifle, and good ammo, and of course a pinch of Henry Chan make a formula of greatness. XD Especially in those weather conditions! Love it! And it does recoil recoil more (MR556) and is crazy heavy in its balance as you guys said. Oh and that take down tool needed for it... Kinda annoying, imo. Especially, if it doesn't really give the rifle anything, but a plecbo effect for people who get bothered by the slight wobble that AR receivers have.
Great channel. I would like to see the HK MR 556 or this going up against a LWRC M6IC. I think would be a good match up. I’ve have dampened the recoil on my M6IC by using an upgraded TacticalSprings buffer springs in a Spike Tactical ST-T2 buffer and install Geissele SSA-E trigger. With no formal training at this time I’m impressed with what I can do with it at 200 yards I would love to see what you guys could do with it. It would be awesome to see a LWRC REPR take the course too.
Top notch shooting lads! Said it before and will say it again: I'm an AK guy but I do love me a 416 Kinda like a different breed of Sweet 16. Keep up the great work!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that wasn't an actual 416, or even a 416 clone? I think instead thats a MR223 or its clone, right? Also, I saw in the video that the upper had the same markings as the real HK416, but I would have thought that would be illegal due to infringement? Or is it a licensed H&K copy or something?
There would be no way that I was going to pay $1800 for scope, so I just topped my AR-15 with Vortex Viper PST 1-6. It is not the same glass, but it is close enough to the Razor Gen II 1-6.
I know this may be a bit out-of-the-way, but i was wondering if you guys could do a comparison of a free-floated and non-free floated barrel using the AR platform (seeing as it's one of the most commonly owned guns in the U.S. nowadays) in both the 20" and 16" versions with Gov't prof barrels. Not only that, but i would also like if y'all did a camparison between the two when using accessories such as a bipod and sling to show how much POI shift would result between them. I think the info would be especially useful for someone who's trying to decide which route to take for what they're going to be doing with their AR, as well as those who like to argue their points on the forums lol. Think that'd be something y'all would look into doing? Edit: The same guns should be used to eliminate as many variables as possible, and to use non-free float rails would mean guns with FSBs installed have to be used. But i think you guys get that. :)
Ok guys, love the concept around your content! You have definitely found a niche. Now step up you game and take the .30 Carbine on the Practical Accuracy course. Find the best shooting carbine (2 MOA?) and see if you can lob them in there.
Rzr2ffe to be honest the ammunition is the biggest advantage here. An ACSS reticle would also be a an advantage, the Razor HD doesn’t have wind hold offs like the ACSS
I love how the shooting conditions are absolute shite on a 500 yrd course, instead of delaying the run for optimal conditions the boys just say "Let's go" and proceed to crush it.
Harder recoil is not because of piston. HK416 is deliberately over gas, over sprung and have very heavy buffer. This is to deliver reliability in hard conditions and/or dirty/dry rifle. I have my HKs “dialed down” for 3Gun shooting and they shoot as smooth as most ARs this side of full Space Gun JP.
I heard Adams Arms is a p.o.s. theres a sherrif dept in FL suing them for $300k for a bunch of junk rifles. Also external piston ARs are the most pointless thing ever. Don't fix what ain't broke!
@@redfirekla im fully aware that the 416 is external piston. As far as the "issue" yes the inside of the BCG gets dirty. Piston guns get dirty as well but its just in a different area, there's no avoiding carbon deposits. At least with the AR all your cleaning is in 1 place the BCG easily removed in 5 seconds... Anyways is carbon in the BCG actually an issue? Does it affect reliability in any way at all? This video is part 4 of a series and it puts that DI poops where it eats unreliable myth to rest forever. 6000 rounds with no lubrication or cleaning all rounds fired 150 at a time in rapid succession. m.ruclips.net/video/_GrZS6NFhvY/видео.html I will admit eternal piston is better at 1 thing and thats not getting as much gas in your face using a suppressor. But there are ways around this with DI such as a Gemtech adjustable bolt carrier, gas buster charging handle or just using a non-baffle zero back pressure style suppressor like an OSS to begin with.
@@toki89666 overall it's a well known thing the German HK-416 us a more reliable design. There's even an old video where water submerged testing reveals the m16 has a major flaw... Seems the Germans fixed all the design flaws if Ugene Stoners M16. I own a few regular PSA chrome linned ARs but everything I'm reading is that piston is better direct competition to the AK platform for reliability
@@redfirekla i provided proof of my claim with the video link I posted. Where's your proof? It seens like the external piston superiority sentiment is largely based on traditional passed down hearsay and feelings. One area I could see the external piston doing better is like you said when rifles are fully submerged and used immediately like for Navy Seals operations but thats just a plausible hunch theres no video proof though. If you do know where some proof of this claim is Id be genuinely interested in seeing it. I just hate all of the gun myths out there, i go with what is demonstrably true.

This is cool and useful thanks. Would also be cool to see a more extensive comparison of the 416/MR556’s heavy profile stainless steel barrel vs this barrel. The 416’s barrel has zero whip or harmonics, I’d like to see if this one is the same. WTB slowmo vids of both firing in semi auto, full auto, and long range from the bench.
I love that optic.
KristophShmit ask a marine that has carried both. The M27 is a tank. The best service rifle around right now.
@@hockeyginger1
Since he cant have a machinegun, the M27 is irrelevant.
Spring Bloom Not at all. The M27 is just a heavy 416 with an autosear.
@@ToastbackWhale
Um, yes. And since he's not going to be running full auto, its completely unnecessary.
Compare it to Wolf A1?
The mr223a3 doesn’t have the locked takedown pins that require a tool.
Nice scope.
Just curious, how do the Titan TD-415 uppers compare to the BRN4 and the genuine HK416? My google-fu says they were very nearly exact clones of the HK416 and gave equal performance. At least until HK hit them with a C&D.
Titan TD uppers work for what they are, however they are made out of spec. People on HKPro have tried mixing genuine HK parts with them to no avail.
MR 762 one day ?
That would be too easy, I have one and it's great, except you need a small allen key to perform the take down.
Nice as always :)
I woulde like to see mor swiss guns for exampel a zfk 55 or a sig 510 or a sig 550.
the end was total gold xD
but then again, I argue all your videos are!
I would like to see some more long range ar15 SBR videos but with 77 grain I’m curious
Do I hear a 500 yds practical accuracy video(s) for the Mk18 Mod 1 and M4A1 SOPMOD Block 2?
A big downside of the MR556 is the lack of chrome line/nitride barrel.
I had to have mine replaced under 10K rounds.
@@K-bob_45 agreed!
Try putting your spotter over and behind the shooters right shoulder. Focus your spotting scope 25ish yards in front of the target. You will see bullet trace
Any change you put the Robinsonarm xcr-l and the xcr-m throught this ?
Wow! No Bullshit this is a great carbine when zeroed properly by an great rifleman! You the MAN!! You are the weapon system!!!
I'd love to see a USMC IAR test!
Said it before and will say it again: I'm an AK guy but I do love me a 416
Kinda like a different breed of Sweet 16.
@@pieterveenders9793 Check the description. Should give better clarity than I can explain
How about an FN M249S? Same bolt and barrel as the military service M249. Good trigger for a semi-auto conversion of an open bolt machine gun.
Now try an 18 inch .223 Wylde match grade barrel. Free float handguard And a FFP 1-8x primary arms and gas system rifle length DI rifle
19 round new record with bad weather wow
Charlie Mike !! Warthog71 says that a lot
I hope you guys can get a hold of the MR762 and show us its capabilities
“I like the way you talk…mm hmm.”
Spoken like “Sling Blade”. 🤠
A superb rifle guys how much was the build?... Thinking about building one from Brownells
Ok guys, love the concept around your content! You have definitely found a niche. Now step up you game and take the .30 Carbine on the Practical Accuracy course. Find the best shooting carbine (2 MOA?) and see if you can lob them in there.
New record on a windy day? Nice
I'm surprised some of those birds haven't been totally shredded by spalling off of those steel targets...
I want to see a regular AR15 a civilian would have like a Ruger 556 with a 1-6 optic and do this same practical accuracy test.
8.8 lbs AR-15 pattern rifle is a no go!
Can you get a 16 in BCM RECCE rifle with an LPVO?
G36 type gas system are over gased, it's a matter of fact, thus, the noticeable increase in recoil, despite the extra mass.
Great video despite the weather conditions. Great shooting, and analysis. Excellent work gents!😃😃😃
Great video, Henry! Thank you!
Woah, that's a very nice run for a 556 service rifle
Shorts Josh? Rock on!
Won't the Razor HD kind of unfairly enhance it's performance against the others?
Rzr2ffe to be honest the ammunition is the biggest advantage here. An ACSS reticle would also be a an advantage, the Razor HD doesn’t have wind hold offs like the ACSS
Please do cz bren 2 in both 762 39 and 556.
In the first 3 seconds I knew I was going to love this video! :)
Please shoot a sig sauer M400 tread! Please I want to see you guys run of those!!!!
Makes you wonder if it would have had a perfect run in a no wind environment.
The only good thing about italy is that you can buy the real fully HK made for about 2.5k€ ~ 3k$
Would luv to see a comparison with the American equivalent Adams Arms.
I heard Adams Arms is a p.o.s. theres a sherrif dept in FL suing them for $300k for a bunch of junk rifles. Also external piston ARs are the most pointless thing ever. Don't fix what ain't broke!
@@toki89666 well what their testing is a piston driven AR and it fixes the reliability and the bcg getting super dirty issue.
6000 rounds with no lubrication or cleaning all rounds fired 150 at a time in rapid succession.
m.ruclips.net/video/_GrZS6NFhvY/видео.html
I will admit eternal piston is better at 1 thing and thats not getting as much gas in your face using a suppressor.
Is there a possibility of you guys doing a inrangetv collaboration and shooting a WWSD rifle? Or even when they conclude their WWSD2020 project?
Beretta ARX!!
77 grain is the only ammo that should be issued for 5.56 rifles. It is my duty ammo and it actually makes the 5.56 a decent stopper.
Man Josh was regretting those shorts all day I imagine.
Imagine the army just adopting the 416 in re chambered 6.8
It would be interesting to see how an SR15 does. It would be a fair DI competition.
otetechie my guess would be similar or better performance. I think a lot of rifles would perform similar with quality ammo, glass, and weather conditions. I would love to see how stainless barrel would do.
Great video, as always. I really want to see a 6.8mm rifle in action.
Love the channel.
0:55 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Charlie Mike...Charlie Mike!!!!!!
Charlie Oscar Oscar November a police man kept saying this to me ....I'm confused lol
@@dalroache hahahahah
Damn. Only a few wind misses.
No wonder the armed forces and special operations are adopting this rifle rapidly
Hey Guys, I really enjoy your chanel. I would like to see you review the Desert Tech MDR 308 and the HK MR308.
Any chance you could revisit some of the older nostalgic rifles like the Lee Enfield, kar98k, ak74 and such but with modern glass?
just wondering, will we see the MCX or some sort of lever action or single shot?
Do a free float 16" 1:8 twist with a .223 wylde chamber.
