    Excellent how to video! Our Craftsman T240 has a 7000 725 22HP engine and this was exactly what I needed to DIY. Thanks

    I have been having issues with surging this season especially when the PTO is engaged. I have replaced everything from a new oem carb, linkage, wind vane, fuel filter, new fuel, spark plugs . Could this be a possibility to cause surging? Maybe due to mice damage. I’m ready to throw in the towel.

      Without seeing the macchine and hear it running, it is impossible to try and diagnose but here are a few things, (1) Does the engine surge at 3/4 throttle? or just at full speed? If it surges at full speed only, you may have to adjust the governor as the engine will surge if it is revving to fast. Check your high speed rpms. (2) you may have a clogged fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump, or from fuel pump to carburetor. (3) you may have a fuel pump failing "but I do not come across many failed fuel pumps"

    I've been looking for a demo on coil installation for the Kohler KT740 25hp for a while. This the best install video I have seen on any small engine. You did a terrific job and did not waste anytime. Showing the removal of the engine cover was very important and something that most people do not show. Thanks for a great video.

    Fine vedio here I'm a fan of the kholer engine. But mainly the older ones with metal. I have the 600 series but I'm sure it's going to be the same process. But you maid this look like a walk in the park. Job well done

    I have had all sorts of trouble with this engine shaking the rear mounting bolts loose. You press on the back and down it goes. The first time, it broke one of the exhaust manifolds/pipes as it had lost 3/4 of the mounting bolts. Now I'm always checking.

    I have a bad-boy MZ Magnum with a KT740-3048 engine. I hope my two 32 584 06-S ignition coils arrives tomorrow. On the kohler website it shows a RFI 25 132 14-S spark plug for my engine model. The champion version is 982 xc12yc. Badboy sells a RC12YC or a ngk -bk55e 7938 spark plug for my mower.
    Therefore I am confused on which spark plug to use. Kohler and badboy recommends two different type of spark plugs.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  4 месяца назад +1

      It’s the same engine so both are fine. I use the equivalent of a champion RC12YC in a NGK version. I prefer NGK plugs.

      I replaced my two ignition coils with a "Kohler 2 Pack Genuine 32-584-06-S Ignition Module OEM" from Amazon. I can mow up hill and my mower does not shut off after an hour. My mower runs like it was the first day.
      I love these videos. I could not wait for 4 weeks at the repair shop.

    Hello. Great video. I have this engine and found mice have chewed the wires. How hard is it to change the wiring?

  • @markdicke6285
    @markdicke6285 2 месяца назад

    Did this and still no spark in the cylinder don't see any mice damage what do I check next all wires seem ok only change 1 coil 300 hrs kohler 748

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  2 месяца назад

      If your saying you replaced a coils and it still doesn’t have spark in the new coils?? If this is the case, disconnect the kill wire to the coils and check spark again. Your coils should now have spark (if it is a good coil). If you don’t have spark you have bad coils. You will need to figure out wiring issues. Impossible to diagnose without seeing the machine. I am saying coils because this engine in my video is a twin cylinder engine which has two coils. I’m not sure what engine your working on

    Strange thing is that the Briggs and Stratton opposed twin cylinder engine uses a single ignition coil system for both of the spark plugs I have a twin cylinder Kohler pro series engine on my craftsman gt tractor glad you made this video on this matter of the ignition coil system for a twin cylinder Kohler engine Brad

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    I have the exact same mower and have never seen the shroud "shake" like that, lol. Wonder what could be causing that as it's clearly tightened down. Mine only has about 150 hrs on the clock (bought used with very low hrs.) so maybe just age? It does make me feel good that it's made it to 600+ hrs and still looks and runs good as I only put about 50 hrs a year on mine. Great video!

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Год назад

      That shake was only caught on video. I checked it more than once after I played it back and it does not shake off camera. Very very strange. i’m thinking vibration while taking the video on the camera side when engine was running.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines I should have watched your video first. I did a bunch of work on, setting them and checking the rod thinking that’s why “she” was struggling. I did check spark and was getting it on both cylinders. So, I sent her to the shop and I found out that it was the coil. Probably gonna’ cost me $ 250 for the repair. They did pick it a up and drop it off. Next time I’ll reach out to you!

    Brad, why do Kohler command v twin engines have one coil going one way, and the other side is upside down or reverse?? Anyone know the reason for this?
