- Hymns could be heard from the assembly of nearly a thousand supporters for the proposal, but those in opposition didn’t stay to sing praises instead they prepared a list of legal issues they hoped would change the congregation’s tune.
. . . Many in that day shall call good as evil and evil as good. The Latter day saints are some of the best people I have interacted with and the temple will increase the beauty of the neighborhood substantially.
Amen
It will be another GD eyesore.
@@brakesforsnakes757 2 neighboring properties are looking at installing at 120'0 high statue of Baphemet and another and 80'-0" high statue of Budda if this is passed and both lit up at night. Both religious symbols and both sites will be open for worshiper to come visit. So religious sites The city would have to allow it if they allow this.
@@carsi7282 It's all GD disgusting.
I remember years ago flying into Las Vegas with my wife on a business trip. We flew right over the Las Vegas strip. I remember looking down on all those opulent casinos and thinking, those are temples. They just aren't temples of our God.
They never claimed to be so what is your non-sequitur about?
We got to be honest, lone mountain ain't really a looker...
Hahaha 100% correct
NIMBY! I'm sure they wouldn't say anything about a mosque.
That's for sure lol
Or a Walmart
Look up what happened in Henderson Nevada last month. The NIMBY's blocked a Hindu Temple, which is no where as industrial or maliciously obscene as this thing.Yet they allowed an LDS church to be build in the so called rural preservation area. Yeah, it didn't take long to look yup the corrupt mayor and councillors adn city employees in the building departmetn to see who attended certain Sunday services at a particular church
I’m confused as to why any religious building should be subject to arbitrary rules limiting how the building looks. If a person or organization owns the land, they can do what they want with it. It doesn’t matter what others think.
True, I could see it not working in an HOA. However non HOA private property should be allowed to build whatever that is in accordance to zoning rules and laws.
@@davidcantor293 This I can agree with. I would like to add that I don’t think the temple site is on HOA property. God bless you!
I understand the nuances of the specific geographic location but it's pretty hilarious on the surface level thinking of people opposing a religious temple because of size or lights in Las Vegas of all places. Anyway, I do believe there is religious prejudice behind a lot of the temple opposition we're seeing.
If you look in that area, for miles nothing is higher than 35'-0". , no sidewalks, no streetlights. No, this is obscene thing and doesnt' fit the rural preservation conditions. And, they maliciously designed the center tower to be over 200' so by federal law it HAS to be lit at night. This is a dark sky area so it will obscenley stand out. It was evil and deliberate. The hatred that will be directed at it and few that actually get to go there will be very palpable.
Unbelievable!!
Mormon money helped make Las Vegas. These folks were against a stacked deck from the very beginning.
All money ill-begotten by stealing land from Native Indians. Funny how Christian churched fully support European colonialist taking over Palestinain land because of their religious conversion but Christian religions in the USA will not give back the land to Native Indian who are ready to return to their land to build and prosper, and bring back their culture and family as per their prophecy.
The temple will literally make the area more beautiful and these whiners are opposed to it.!!🤮
No glaring white building is not better than the scenery that god himself provided. God does not live in buildings!
The temple is ugly and too big of a building for a residential neighborhood.
@@ruelynng59ok Howard Roark, what is your definition of beauty? 😂
@@academyofchampions1 I want something that is aesthetically pleasing to behold, something that brings peace to the senses. This design does meet my definition; it reminds me of the JC Penny's at my local Mall. It is just a square building with a too-large spire in the middle. It will look out of place in the residential neighborhood, much like the Lindon Temple does. The Church must do better than lie about how the design and spire are important to the workshop done in the Temple.
It looks like a graveyard mausoleum. Want beautiful and inspiring, look at the Hindu Temples, Shinto Temples, Mosques, Christian temples and Catholic Cathedrals. The one build in Dubai last year is stunning inside and outside. I'm not Hindu but would love to visit that one. And unlike LDS temples which are private clubs who only those who give fortunes can attend selectively - Hindu Temples, Mosques, Catholic Cathedrals and Christian Temple anyone can go anyday and time they are open.
There's a separation of church and state. How could city council justify shutting this down when there are temples just like it all over the country?
News anchor did not attempt very hard to disguise her disgust about religous symbolism. Pretty fun, 2024, the year of temple talks - hey Cyrus, AkA Trump where ya at?
Money = Power
Money = Ability to Help Many People
Money and Power are good if you do it in the right way. The Church own the land so they can do whatever they want. Very simple.
God= Power, Truth and Light 💡
Gods Power does NOT come from money
@@kobidoggy7575 No, no one can build what they want. There are building codes, restrictions, ordinances adn norms of the area. This industrial buidlgin doens sit in for miles. They could do this on a site like the old women's prison. At the old prison site they can build it that high and light it as much as they want there. And that tower is a danger. Many helicopter fly low in that area so it is and obstruction that can cause crashes
A Mormon temple?.
What lies, they can't change the design. The Church can and should design a Temple that fits into the area, not some cookie-cutter architectural committee came up with.
The area looks like dirt and scrub brush. No one would go to a temple that looks like that.
@@The_Savage_Wombat It is rural preservation. Just google map the area. There isn't anything over 35'-0" height for miles. They want a 216' obscenity that is brightly lit all night. And maliciously they design it over 200' because then it HAS to be lit up brightly for aviation. There isn't any ordinacnes in that religion that they have to have the design this high. Rue is correct, they can change the design but they don't want to. It is malicious by the elites of this religious corporation usinf it purchase property to hold wealth.
This will be a beautiful addition to the community!
You mean human trafficking?

Beautiful for who? The believers obviously. Silly lds faith. They push their way into anything they want.
@@jake8882 Good
A glaring white building built by men's hands is not as beautiful as the scenery that God provided. You all think you're about god and Jesus but you destroy ecosystems and the enjoyment of others for your pleasure, not very Christian like at all.
I wondering if we are talking about a little Temple or a really nice ones like all over Japan that been there for generation.. I want more then a gambling look to my hometown Vegas I prefer different cultures looks to Vegas then peoples saying there nothing going on in Vegas then Bars, Slots, strip clubs.. I've been here my whole life I knows there more going in Vegas in there communities our little town is still growing too fast but in a way we do need to slow down on all the buildings in Vegas
Tax evaders. Easiest trick in the US book. 😂
Except that this religion keeps meticulous track of all donations and still reports it to the IRS.
Few other religions do this.
@@The_Savage_Wombat They all have to report their tithing. Only USA christian religion use it to hold wealth and tax writeoff. Jesus Christ chose poverty and commanded his deciples to do the same. Look up usury. It is heretical for a religion who professes to follow Jesus Christ to accumulate wealth, power and influence. It tore the Catholic church apart, It tore the Christian churches apart. Jesus Christ tore the temple down who used the name of the Father to profit and cursed those who adhere to it. That is what he was crucified for (not for our sins)
I’m not anti-Mormon, but that temple is going to be such a blight on the scenery.
For real? I mean, for real? Have you seen these buildings? They are gorgeous! If you’re concerned, just remember that the temple spire will only diminish the mountain vista by maybe roughly 0.01 percent. God bless you brother.
quite the opposite.
Tell my your anti-Mormon without telling me you're anti-Mormon
@@academyofchampions1 🤮
Yup, it will make the dirt lots, weeds and scrub brush in this area look really shabby.
Everyone that ain't from around here should have done their history back ground homework and known that the Mormons started Las Vegas and shit doesn't fly when it comes to history and Mormons and money
Something tells me that all of these whiny people won’t voice their concerns about “the Mormons” doing countless hours of community service to make the communities that they live in safer, better and prettier.
@@academyofchampions1Mormons don't do that, sorry. I am from UT and they don't make any community better, safer or prettier. They are for Mormons only and don't care about their fellow brethren unless of course you are wanting to be converted into their cult. Not only from UT but from a huge mormon family, unfortunately.
Unlike other religions, there are no LDS billionaires. Where does money come into this equation?
@@The_Savage_Wombat Not sure what you are talking about just google that, there are at least 10-15 Mormon billionaires.
Utter bullshit.
