A special request. Hope this tutorial helps with ebay end & sell similar to refresh your listings. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing, Vickie ~ Avante Avenue
I'm adding this video to the top of my "favorites" list. Thank you for the step by step instructions and suggestions on how to and why. I'm a visual learner and these tutorials are a tremendous help to me.🤗 I've learned so much from reading the comments too.
Did you know that if you use the down down to the left of the item picture and select end listing that it permanently ends the listing. YES. The item does not go to the Unsold or Ended list page. If you end a listing by checking the box to the left of the picture, then use the actions tab, then end the item, it goes to the ended page.
After I’ve relisted, I do want to delete the items in unsold. Ending a listing on my phone puts it in unsold (and ended as well) until I delete it. Please share more as to why you prefer working from the “ended” file. If I sold something elsewhere, I delete it on eBay. If I end to sell similar, after I know that it’s relisted, I delete the items. How is putting items in “ended’ or working from ended helpful to you? Note, when I end a listing, it shows up in both ended and unsold.
@@AvanteAvenue No, I was trying to warn sellers. Let me re-explain in a more detailed manner. In the active listings, to the left of the item photo, there is a dropdown tab. It is immediately to the right of the edit link. If a seller was to click the dropdown, there is a "sell similar" and an "end listing" in there. IF a seller was to was to end a listing, this is NOT the place to do it as it will permanently delete the item. It will NOT send it to Unsold or Ended. I shared this with a few other sellers on RUclips who tried it and reported back that the fact it does permanently delete the listing is strange and it was going to be brought up to eBay. As for putting items in Ended vs Unsold, I have no idea about the mechanics of that. When I checked the box left of the edit link of 3 items, then went to Actions tab to end listings, my listings were placed both in Unsold and ended. I am just now learning of sell similar. However, I DO KNOW there are a lot of glitzes going on through out eBay and they have caused me a world of problems.

Wonderful video!! I've been selling part time for 20 years and I never knew how or why you would want to do this. I just always let ebay relist the item until it sold. Thank you. I love your channel!!!
Sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment. I just saw it! I’m always learning something new to. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated! 🙂❤️👍
Wow I actually did not realise you had to go in and delete the unsold. I have just been ending and selling similar and am finding to many double listings. So this is something I clearly need to do.
Yes, this happens to everyone in the beginning. QuickTip is to sort your active listings by the title column. That puts them in alphabetic order by your title and from there it’s usually easy to spot check duplicates by looking at the titles and the photos. Delete the duplicates. 🙂❤️👍
I just finished doing a bunch of Sell Similar and then got on YT to watch some videos, and this came up, LOL! As a side note, your hair, makeup, and outfit are ‘spot on’ today!
Isn’t that how it works? But, hopefully I shared something new for next time. And, thank you kindly for the compliments! Considering it was my second video recording that day, I’ll take it! Thank you!🙂❤️👍
I love your posts and have been following you for some time. Love all the advise. Yesterday I did my first end & sell similar following your instructions in this post. It went great without a hitch. Prior to this I had been keeping track of the item numbers on my spreadsheet. Now that the item numbers have changed on the items I ended & reposted I am wondering if I need to continue to keep track of the item numbers at all. I use a custom sku to find my items. So long story short, is there a need to keep track of the item numbers for any reason? Oh, love your name, my name is Vickie also...
I don’t see any reason to track the item numbers. I used to as well so were years ago. But but no need to today. As you said, the number changes when we end in sell similar. If, however, you just want to have a spreadsheet, use the first few words of the title. That is some thing that I rarely, if ever, change. Thank you for the kind words and welcome to the “ie” club! Thank you Vickie! 🙂❤️👍
Very informative video! If you have inventory listed that you want to end and not relist or sell similar, does it count against you to just end the listing & delete from unsold? In other words, does Ebay view this action negatively? This would be a way to purge inventory that is not selling well. Does Ebay care how many items you have in the unsold folder?
No, it doesn't count against us as sellers. We can end our listings at any time. We can relist, sell similar or choose not to relist at all. No worries. It's our inventory to do as we wish. Sell similar assigns a new "item" number. The only downside I can see of sell similar is if you've got links somewhere leading back to your listing. If so, that link would break. Otherwise, it's fine. Listings can disappear after while. I can't remember how long until they drop off but it can happen. Hope this helps and thank you for asking!
I’ve sold a few silver plated serving spoons. So yes you can sell just one spoon. It’s just that they don’t go for much. Maybe $8-10 or so. We had a light dusting of snow overnight. It melted and it’s snowing again right now. I just told Mark that when I try to do nothing (meaning non-reselling), I don’t know what to do. LOL. So I just put a cherry crisp in the oven. The recipe is on my thrifty recipes RUclips channel. LOL. Stay warm! ❄️☃️🌨 P.S. I just reread your question. If you’re asking me how to ship it, I use a bubble envelope. I wrap a spoon in small bubble wrap, slide it to one side inside the bubble envelope, and then fold the bubble envelope over lengthwise and tape everything down. If you’ve seen this in one of my videos, I also cut the end flap in half so that I can easily fold it over. I hope that makes sense. And, tape everything as needed so it doesn’t get stuck in a machine.
@@AvanteAvenueI measured this morning. 5.5 inches. Still snowing. I know what you mean about food. We have a ham in the oven. The spoon sold for $29. It is a Wallace Sterling and my first sterling flatware. I am leaning towards finding a small box.
Very helpful tutorial! I'm wondering how you deal with this in your record keeping. Maybe I'm collecting more info on my spreadsheet than I need---but with new listing date and new item number, the paper trail gets muddled. How do you handle this? Thanks.
We keep track of our income and expenses in a bookkeeping program, GoDaddy bookkeeping. You would need to check with an accountant for inventory accounting as I cannot advise. As to finding our items in our inventory, we use the custom label option in our listings to make a note where our items are stored if they’re stored somewhere other than our primary ebay area where we can visually see the items. The eBay item number is actually irrelevant for our system. We know where our items are and that’s what is important for us. As to listing date, the title overrides that meaning we don’t tweak our titles (we can easily search for items) and listing dates are unimportant. What is important for us is how much we paid for inventory, when we bought it and when it sold. I’m sorry I can’t fully answer your question but this is what we do. 🙂❤️👍
@@AvanteAvenue I'd say you did a great job of answering my question. I've been trying to keep item numbers and date listed(and relisted). I don't have so many listings at this point so I can spend the time to input data and make notes but I can see where that won't work as one expands listings/inventory . I am a senior who wants to start selling off her own collectibles. Is there any way to take time away from selling to go on vacation or for personal business? Thank you so much.
Yes, Ebay has what’s called time away. You can either keep your store open but have a notice about your return date (always allow yourself an extra couple days to get settled back in for shipping) or you can close your store and not take any sales while you’re on time away. It’s in your seller dashboard. You’ll just have to look for it. I’m sorry I don’t know exactly where it is at this moment. Hope this helps. 🙂❤️👍
