best looking astra Opel has ever build hands down. astra g coupe is such a beautiful car and i love it when i see one on the streets.. not so often anymore but here and there you see one and you remember how beautiful they are.
@@joshreis3192 There are still good ones out there. I sold mine too but i consider buying one again in the near future. good ones cost about 1000€ where i live and when you want the z20let version good ones start at 2000~2500€.
@@DeadalusG I'm looking at buying another very soon for a project the one I'm after will be the same as what I had before blue, with the blue interior and seat belts theres a 2002 se2 model for sale not to far from me for £2500 with 55kmiles on it I'm looking at buying it and having it as a project I want to see about trying to put a k20 engine in it and subtley modifying it ie gsi front bumped and so forth
@@joshreis3192 Sounds amazing. Im not too big of a fan of the opel bright blue BUT there is a dark blue version of it too which just looks amazing. Not sure if its actually an OEM color but i wish i found one when i looked for a astra. got a black one tho which also looked pretty nice. Guess you are refering to the blu special version which i also liked.
still rolling on my original subframe on mine 2002 astra bertone ( and its still solid),, corsa subframes are rotting after 7 years these days, light weight using less materials ie less steel is making cars rust buckets within 8 years :( i much prefer vauxhalls 2006 and before) seen corsa d rear arch rust on 5 year old models. water based paints is causing more problems than solvents did
i like how they used to throw a jab at ford puma in virtually every other coupe's review even though that car is literally a pile of rubbish on wheels.
I was never a fan of the styling of that generation of Astra (despite having owned my 2003 1.7dti for 8 years as a family work horse - longer than more exotic cars I've bought and sold in the meantime). But having just seen a Centenary special edition Astra coupe for sale, in deep blue with contrasting biscuit coloured leather, for £695, it got me thinking. I really want to like it but it's still a bit bland in my eyes. But even my old DTI corners well so the sportier set up and extra power of the coupe would be interesting.
do it. you wont regret especially if you go for the 2 litre turbo ;) if the bertone design was good enough for BTCC cars and it won it in 2003. it will handle like a dream especially the 888 edition although they are 7k plus ATM.
I have a 2.2 Coupe. I'll be fitting it with 18in Astra Twintop alloys with Michelin PS4's and Bilstein/Eibach shocks and springs then more tuning. Make it more spritely 😂
heh. solidly built my foot. the italians really bungled the body corrosion protection. in direct comparison to the german built astras the workmanship is really lagging behind
Funny that my italian is still going strong with not a single indication of rust tho and gets through car check up every year without a single negative comment on it

These cars are not prone to rust at all pretty much anywhere. Mine has never been garaged nor undersealed and has not a single bit of bubble rust on it, all the paint on the inner wheel arches and not a single bit of surface rust, even underneath.
@@azlean5323 I work on Opels on a dayly basis and especially the Astra G are proving to be rust buckets in the most inconvenient spots. Usually the wheel arches, inner side skirts, somewhere underneath. What they are tho is a pretty cheap way to carry arround up to 5 people.
@@leogreck9984 Bullshit. Forums and owner reviews everywhere have stated how good Astra G's are, the galvanising was way better than even Audi and VW of the same era. Especially the Astra Bertone's, the Italian's used the best metalwork. Doesn't change the fact my last 2 Astra G's were hatchbacks and equally as amazing. They're not prone to rusting anywhere. Most people who come here will back me up 👍🏻

Another fact is the Astra G has the highest MOT pass rate of any car from it's era. I believe even in 2020 they have a 77% + pass rate and mostly down to little to no rusting and a respectable reliability rating.
@@azlean5323 to me this all sounds like we live in two different worlds. As far as I know GM made sure to cut corners as much as possible. The cheapest steal money can buy and thin rust protection. It is a symptom of almost all Opel/Vauxhalls to develop rust issues. Aswell as electric and mechanical problems like: Faulty ignition coil for many models with the 1 coil for 4 cylinders, Kadett E had bad ECUs destined to fail. I think the biggest difference is that the German version of the MOT is far more strict. If there is just one tiny thing not right, you aren't allowed to drive the car legally.

I know it’s standard Astra G but the Linea Rossa looks so good. Love the black/red bicolor seats and the white speedometer. Makes up for it.

Worst car I ever owned. Around £3k in repairs in the space of 18 months
I never had a problem with mine. But it was a long time ago.
