Interesting tip about using weeds as a fertiliser by soaking in water, I shall definitely be trying it in the spring. Wishing you a very Happy and prosperous New year Jacob. Keep the vids coming please!👍🏻
Jacob, MAGIC VIDEO. We make a lot of compost and also use loads of seaweed. We also have 2 comfrey pipes and this does a lot, but the problem is ........it's now -3 deg C. HAVE A SUPER YEAR.
I use nettles and comfrey to form plant feeds. Maybe I,ll try a general weeds one this year and compare. What you said about the different varieties is true. Salad Bowl lettuce does brilliantly in my garden ( I even let a few go to seed and they germinate the next Spring everywhere!), but other lettuce types struggle. Have a great new year Jacob.
Yeah I've really wanted to grow comfrey to make liquid teas. Absolutely, I've noticed a big difference with kale varieties, particularly the difference in how red russian kale grows between here in the Adelaide hills and where I used to live in Victoria. Cheers mate, you too!
@@JacobsBackyardGardening Do you get hot dry summers? Last year we had a really sunny spring and then some long hot, dry spells in summer. I was forever watering, but still certain crops just didn't thrive. My outdoor tomatoes were rubbish. There is nothing like good, regular rain at the right times. I,d be interested if anyone knows of good varieties of crops for drier conditions. Our soil in Poole just doesn't retain water well. However, I,m building up good humus levels. So should improve. Also growing crops in small trenches helps, rather than flat level....it helps with watering.
Thanks! There's not a big difference, at least in having specific weeds, they all require the same essential nutrients that vegetables need. Its just a good practice to have a wide range of "ingredients"! Anything that you have will work well! Hope that helps you out!
Hi Jacob just wanted to ask ive seen you cover your veg garden with straw .does this stop slugs and snails ? Will slugs and snails crawl over a straw bale ?
I’d love to see more about companion planting!
Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion Rebeka!
Great video! Thanks for all of the info 💚

No worries! Cheers Katrina, you too!
Fantastic tips thank you very much. What sorts of common weeds make the best overall weed tea in regards to the range of nutrients?

No it doesn't, that's just there as mulch
