When everything is race this, race that, v10 swap, V12 swap, 1000hp.. you get bored with the game very quick because every car ends up feeling and sounding the same.. you're on the right path CrayG 👍🏾
have you tried using a wheel with one of those s1 cars? its far from easy even with sim steering the controller does all the small micro movements for you. ive gone back set up my cars to their strengths a 90's tuner car shouldn't be S class maybe s1 with grip tires anything more then that and its undrivable
This is how we used to build cars back in GT6. It feels nicer because you can floor the gas and have fun rev banging around a corner. You can’t do that with those 700 HP + builds around tight corners
Gt : vapelord808. I'll be glad to show you low powered and high powered rev banging while drifting tight corners on a wheel for ya? New friends bigger lobbies sounds like a win win
This is how I’ve been building my drift cars since Horizon 3 and it’s safe to say that I’m absolutely hooked. My friends and I were talking about Halo and Forge mode and how Forza basically has its own Forge mode now. I realized that that’s what has always drawn me to Motorsport and Horizon, just like in Forge mode and the custom games we played like duck hunt, we get to set the rules and play how we want, and that is the beauty in Forza. We get to build cars based on the rulesets we choose for ourselves, The game does a great job at catering to how you want to play, and that’s what helps set it apart from other racing games
I respect you for this not many people like to take the realistic route of tuning on forza this is how most of my touge builds are just with an open diff makes it feel real as hell nice video g keep up the good work 👍🏽
A kaaz 2 way is like 1k it’s a realistic upgrade. Put a better diff in your car and the final drive tuning is a ring gear swap. All I’m saying is upgrade your diff.
I like building my cars like this, however ive been playing around with max everything builds and i gotta say that i have an r31 with the 3.0 racing engine that i spent a ton of time fine tuning into a missle and is by far the best drift car ive built to date. 5th/6th gear car and posted 1.5 mil on mountain drift zone. Drifting in fh5 feels incredible and im excited to see where it goes from here
I always use parts I would buy in real life. That way every car keeps their own positive and negative aspects. Which ultimately make them the car they are.
The reason this gearing and power is so good is because you're drifting low in the rev range, with proper throttle control and weight balancing being required. Most people are just doing the "Formula Drift" style powerslide. Foot to the floor, bouncing off the revlimiter, with the gearing just low enough that you don't spin out. That's what makes it so "smooth" and responsive. You're not just controlling a powerslide, you're actually drifting, the true definition, before it got bastardized by noob sliders here in the USA that can't break traction without 900whp.
@@thatonenigeriansformula the "real drifting" shtick comes off as negative most of the time, but there is a reason so many people (often times obnoxiously) argue about it.
I was wondering why I hated the formula drift cars sooooo much… you literally have to floor it to get them to break loose and keep it pinned the whole time…. There’s no finesse
I’ve always done this because I like the way the mostly stock cars feel. Each one has personality but if you put all the race parts on every car feels the same. It’s significantly more enjoyable to drive a car with some faults if your not concerned with outright performance. Great video man!
I’d like to see more videos like this as well since I’m getting into custom tuning and trying to do less tune downloads. Specifically the final drive tuning ratios for street builds (I’m still lost). Speaking of user tunes I wish the game would let you test builds before you download em because it’s really like pulling a rabbit out of a hat.
For drag tunes don’t worry ab final unless ur gears are gettin lengthened too much then turn final to acc. 1st gear needs to be acc till it spins then turn it down. Everything else is just tuning to rpm. And your springs and all that. Make sure u do a burnout it’ll make a 100% difference on ur first to second gear. And if your turbocharged try to tune 1st for the 2step if it’s too slow then do what u want
Finally I’m not the only one who prefers realistic builds! Also can we all agree that the drift events should be separated between RWD and AWD since AWD is broken as of right now?
just from that very first transition i could already tell the car was wayyyy smoother w that build, before it seem a bit hard to chain drifts around longer corners, but this car can carry even deeper angles & wider exits to setup the next drift effortlessly
I upgrade a little different but same concept of realistic and reasonable upgrades. Most cars between 300-450 hp, street trans just to change the final drive to a 4.3 or 4.6 like most s chassis, and set up the car similar to the meihan recipe all the drivers around Nara/Kansai use
Aww, he’s learning… Finally!! @CrayG might I recommend you get more into Suspension and Handling modifications. Pretty sure those two play MAJOR roles in racing, especially drifting. Also maybe work on grip driving as well. Cheers brotha
Even just seeing you drift something low power that smoothly for a minute or two had me wanting a refund on my “””drift cars”””” pack. Just downloaded the lowest power drift tune I could find and wow… less really is more. Even knowing that classic JDM cars are the ones to drift I didn’t realize just how much a few extra horses can totally ruin the feel. I actually had to manually search to find something under 600hp, but I’m glad I did. The wheel is practically doing all the work, just careful throttle control and finally feeling what I expected when I bought my wheel. Thank you. Also post the toon codes k thanks 👋
Love this, so true, take time with each build, learn how to tune and really dial in the cars. Loving this fresh content bruv, i now need a wheel to drift on!
I do something very similar with classic muscle cars, especially the 80s cars. I'll add modern street transmissions, modern street suspension, tires, and then add things like modern air, spark and fuel systems to truly try and optimize these older engines to see how well they can truly perform.
Bro I literally had the same ideology about the race parts and I tried this same thing on my 240 and it feels CRAZY good it’s wild. This is a great video and my whole way of tuning has changed.
I would still run sport trans because adjusting the final drive is like swapping the splines in the diff. i know people like to swap in 4.9 spines for the KA 240s which I believe is what the 240sx se is as it has a displacement of 2.39. I usually go for sound when it comes to exhaust when I build my "fun" cars
Paused at 2:37 to comment this I personally will tend to go with the stock flywheel or just one up if the car is a bit slow revving for my taste but reason for this is I drift with manual and clutch so then I’m off throttle and on the clutch lets say for a entry the sport or race flywheel will rev fast but also return to idle fast with the stock fly wheel the car stays up in the rpms longer and I only have to modulate the throttle a little to stay in power before dumping the clutch 3:00 after seeing your tune setting just wanted to suggest something try making the rear 0.3 toe in and the front 0.5-0.8 toe out your already have your tire pressure super high so this alignment will help the car feel faster in drift and the toe out in front will help with initial flick in. Also side not I like putting the sport trans in to at least tune final drive it’s my idea of changing out a diff for a different ratio like a 4.10 vs a 3.73 ya know? Final note I guess in forza I tend to mod the car in a way depending on how I would like the car as a drift car in real life like for example my SC300 it has a 1jz (rb26 but it’s forza so close enough sounds close enough too with the race exhaust) and that car makes around 450 which is not unrealistic it has a welded in it, street tires, 265 or 255 in the rear 235 in the front (I really common set up irl) car has 40psi up front and 25 out rear for the most grip, -5 camber front +0.1 in the rear (used the telemetry yo verify that under load the camber 0 out) I usually leave the sway bars alone I leave those stock I made the rear pretty soft and front pretty stiff also a common way of setting up big body Toyota and Lexus’s in real life. And the breaks I actually leave stock and gears in has 4.10 in it. This is generally how I set up all of my drift cars with varying differences depending on power goals, how old the car is (it may need a break up grade or engine swap) but the alignment and suspension set up is pretty very similar across all my cars
How would you go for tuning a car with 600-750hp? I've been trying different stuff and can't really figure it out. I like drifting high horsepower cars
Oh yeah also try to get your torque graph flatter, I found the consistent torque thru the rev range made smooth long drifts much easier. If ur using a wheel try 360 degrees in the software for the wheel. Enjoy

It seems like the tuning in the format is on a different level compared to past forza's, I have been maxing out my cars but I get bored with them and honestly this kinda opened my eyes to why
Love this way of doing things, used to do this myself with Forza until FH4 got old and I started being lazy doing everything maxed out, i used to have the fastest Datsun 510 drag tune back on FM3 aswell, I've let it go for sure, but for FH5 I'm definitely gonna try and take more time with my builds, glad to see someone else with the same vision, earned a sub man wicked genuine content 👌
I would recommend you and everyone else reverse your toe settings, may just be my preference but I prefer small toe out in front and even less toe in in rear for example, 0.5 out front 0.3 in rear is my baseline
Interesting. I guess I need to rethink how I approach tuning. It is unrealistic to just go all out on every category. My head kinda goes to, “it’s available, you need it.” Like I’m not doing everything I can for my build unless I don’t take advantage. In reality, I’m doing too much. Thanks for this.
The way I build my cars is I drive them stock first and see what it needs. Sometimes it's not much and low power drifting imo is way more fun than high power.

The Biggest Problem with this mentality is that drifting is really a personal preference thing, so you should copy his tunes and then dial them in for themself not try to learn how to drift his tunes
If you use sport trans, it’s just changing the rear diff gears. Like how lots of people change to a different ratio in real street drift when you weld the diff. That’s how real life gear tuning is unless it’s a million dollar race car
just started watching your videos. This one is FIRE. So many "drift build" videos always creating these insane 900hp+ monsters. Im a noob, i cant handle that crap lmao this was much more maintanable.
A class: street builds with 500-600hp and sport transmission because sequential sound doesn't fit them at all S1 class: "pro" drift cars with 1000+hp sequential and all that
I tend to run a race trans, but i’ll change my gearing to that of a CD009, and have a 450-525ps rb26 build on my zenki so i can run low thickness drift tyres. I find that to be a super easy touge setup👹
This is how I built all my cars in fh4 and was really disappointed when I played fh5 and all these big long corners punish cars like this. That's especially hard with my driving style of being flat out all the time and using weight transfer only, that only works on short and tight corners. I don't even play fh5 anymore😒
I notice you say "I have my psi maxed out front and the rear, as much wheel spin as possible". I recently did some testing and it appears that when you are fully aired down, the tires over heat and slide much more than when they are pumped up all the way. Even with damage turned completely off they still over heat and slide much more than being fully aired up. I was on snow tires though, not sure if the other tires are the same way or not. Just something to consider on your next build. 😎✌
This sums up why (after downloading and trying a few of the cars) I have had ZERO interest in the formula drift pack. The flow and steeze from these types of builds is the thing I fell in love with when I found out about drifting. Formula drift has none of the style and finesse of a classic build like this. Plz give us codes man!!!!
I think the Formula Drift pack gets way more hate then it deserves, for any player who understands the basics of tuning, making a drift car is quite simple and they can do it with any car. More likely then not these players are not new to the game. But the formula drift pack has cars that throw the back end out for you so all you have to do is try to keep the car straight, which is good for generating interest in drifting for new players. I'm not saying the formula drift cars are good, but I do think they help introduce new players until they outgrow it. But, I do agree and believe that there needs to be some sort of "Street Drift" or "Tandem Drift" or "Technical Drift" pack that has better tunes for the names listed. Formula drift is really made for tracks and high speed, you can tell by the way they ALL drive
I ALWAYS BUILD REALISTIC CARS IF U NOTICE DRIVING A CAR INSIDE ITS STOCK PLATEFORM AND CLASS IS WAY MORE FUN ALSO U CAN DRIFT ALOT OF THE CARS WIT RACE SUSPENSION AND I NEVER NOTICED HOW DIFFERENT THE CARS SOUND WITH EXHAUST AND NORMALLY THE STOCK EXHAUST SOUNDS THE BEST
i was drifting in Assetto corsa befor i got Forza and i dindt do to bad but in Forza i suck so hard i spin out on every drift i try, i dont know what iam doing wrong
*_looks at 1200hp drift Lambo Huracán_* jokes aside, if high-power Formula Drift-like builds is your thing, the Huracán is actually a great chassis im gonna try to make a realistic low/mid power drift build

S1 class: "pro" drift cars with 1000+hp sequential and all that
Why have you got negative front toe and positive rear toe?
Ok bro i been needing this
I tend to run a race trans, but i’ll change my gearing to that of a CD009, and have a 450-525ps rb26 build on my zenki so i can run low thickness drift tyres. I find that to be a super easy touge setup👹
if you kept the 255s and put on a racing driveline, i wonder if it would feel the same?
I been building my cars like this since fh4 it’s the only way I build cars now everything else gets boring and over complicated things
55 PSI ?!
😳
I prefer to run like 600hp with 29.5PSI usually, I’ll have to try low HP and high PSI in the tires I guess?!
Ima have to try this
Sauce Gang 😤
290 hp drift integra highly recommended 👌
This is dope g
Thank you for this Cray!!
Most times, you honestly just need a welded dif and you’re good to go lol
bro wtf??? im hella inspired now XD
Great video bro!
Aye I see the stock transmission in there cray g 👀
nice video boy, i had the same setting not exactly 100% but started from forza 3
Do have a video of your gaming setup, im curious what kind of wheel your using.👏🏽✌🏼
I ALWAYS BUILD REALISTIC CARS IF U NOTICE DRIVING A CAR INSIDE ITS STOCK PLATEFORM AND CLASS IS WAY MORE FUN ALSO U CAN DRIFT ALOT OF THE CARS WIT RACE SUSPENSION AND I NEVER NOTICED HOW DIFFERENT THE CARS SOUND WITH EXHAUST AND NORMALLY THE STOCK EXHAUST SOUNDS THE BEST
i was drifting in Assetto corsa befor i got Forza and i dindt do to bad but in
Forza i suck so hard i spin out on every drift i try, i dont know what iam doing wrong
This is how all my cars are built
Someone made volcano pass looks like Touge which the road looks narrower than the original, play it at night for more Cool Vibe magaruna pass I think
It’s okay to go over 300 hp but I wouldn’t go past 450 or 500
Use the drift transmission and gear it so its got hard excelleration and stick drift trans in the car thats what i do with the cosworth
*_looks at 1200hp drift Lambo Huracán_*
jokes aside, if high-power Formula Drift-like builds is your thing, the Huracán is actually a great chassis
im gonna try to make a realistic low/mid power drift build
