I've been using my BX2380 to skid big logs too, it works great! As the dealer told me, this small tractor can do anything, you just might have to take a few more trips ;)
yeah little deeres would struggles wich i accully seen a deere broke in half trying pull big logs wich wasnt his good day thats why kubotas are solid like tanks and deeres recylable plastic lol
What are you thinking?! It's only March!!! We have at least 2 storms to get through!! Your driveway is looking really good for mud season. You have your own skiddah. Haters are gonna hate. You're just wicked New England. You used what you had on hand and got the job done.
Part of the fun of this stuff (IMHO) is dreaming of new attachments, but in the meantime improvising with what we have to complete the tasks that need doing! Way to get it done Jack. Loved the interaction with your little apprentice! 👍😎
Lol. You’ve done it now! Between you and Ross on the Land removing your snowblowers, it is guaranteed to snow any day! ❄️ ⛄️ You can’t beat these little BX tractors! So handy and affordable to run. Nice work!
That little Kubota works great , nice job , Looks like you got a day or two to chain saw that pile up , In the end you are going to have a lot of fire wood , Hope your feeling better soon
So that's who's to blame for the storm on April 19th that took out power for almost a week up here in Upstate NY. You were just a little shy on the timing of the snow! 😉
Clever use of a box blade. I see a recipe for disaster pulling off the pile to get started. Tearing up your drive is the least of your worries. If a log but digs in, that tractor's front will come up and over faster than a snake bite. I use a geared tractor for skidding, in that context, my foot never leaves the clutch. I have not established a habit for that,as yet, with the hydro BX. I suggest you go to one log at a time. Be prepared for more sharpening with all the dirt ground in. Cut from the clean side of the log. Be well. Chris
Drag the logs into the open from the forest. Dont move or touch the wood anymore, cut n split right there. Put the spit wood into the metal bin used for industrial liquid. (IBC Totes) Put forks on the tractor and carry the Bins up to your house when you need them. The less you touch the wood, the better. Dont waste your time using pallets.
The harbor freight quick hitch works well for skidding. I use the top hook to attach to and voila. Only real pain is making sure the logs don’t beat into my rear pto or anything else back there. Our poor BXs don’t ever get the credit they deserve lol
Down here in Missouri, we call that "Redneck Engineering". You sure you don't have family roots down here? LOL It worked and it worked well, so the armchair advisers can jut live with it. I do agree on your snow forecast. I put our snowblower away and within a week, we got more snow.
Small tractors are more than capable of doing big things. You just have to take 1 or 2 trees at a time instead of 3 or 4. Horsepower isn’t your limitation in this application, it’s machine weight. Holding the ends of the logs up on the 3 point put weight where you need it: on the rear axle. I’d have done it too!
It worries me to see a young father, yanking logs off a pike like that. One thing I do is draw backwards at times. Perhaps you could use the bucket with grab hooks and chain to position the log and, then do your box routine, on level ground.
YOUNG MAN , BEFORE U START PULLING NEED TO PUT SHORT LOG UBDER KNEE , THEN GET A BETTER HOLD ON YOUR LOG , THEN START PULLING WILL LEAVE BEHIND U STILL WANT HURT YOUR DRIVE WAY AT ALL / THIS WAY YOUR LOG WILL BE ABITE HIGH ER AND MAKE SURE YOUR LOADER BUCKET WITH A LOAD CLOSE TO THE GROUND , WILL PULL ALOT BETTER !
YOUNG MAN , U NEED TO LOAD LOADER BUCKET WITH MUD " F I R S T " OR ANY THING ESLE U LIKE GIVE UWILL HAVE MORE IN CONTROL PLUS + PULL ALOT BETTER / LOWER LOADER BUCKET DOWN SOME / THIS WAY U WILL CONTROL OVER YOUR BX PISS - ANT TRACTOR , FOR SURE !
Can I just say how much I like the background. I caught myself humming it lol.
It’s catchy!

They are great machines when you recognize the limitations.
@@TheMindfulHomestead there strong little 23hp little beast

Any day now. More snow!
The "little tractor that could". Good show!!
You have a great little helper there. My daughter Emma is now 11 years old. She has been working with me since she could walk.
Any reason to use the tractor is a good enough reason for me! Did the job just fine.
You're tempting the snow gods taking your blower off LOL! Cool idea with the chain on your box scraper
Watching this makes me really want a tractor. It also makes me really glad I only have one tree to cut down.
Haha. Having a forested property definitely adds to the work load. You really can’t just “let it be” if you want it to stay healthy.
@@TheMindfulHomestead And I'm having to put more in so the wind isn't quite so fierce. It's always something isn't it? 😂
Good stuff, Jack! The little tractor did just fine with those logs.
Jack, the propane guy told me you said hello. Keep up the good work.
I love this skidded idea for the tractor. Thanks for sharing!
Looked like it handled those logs just fine. 👍😃
It really did better than I expected.

All my fault!
Well done Mate..Do what you have to do to get the job done
have you tried a Draw Bar for skidding, works great
Hope you feel better!🙂
Great video, those are tough little tractors.👍🏻
They definitely kick some butt in a small package.
And I was hoping we were done!!
Nope! Snow until June now!
Well done!

The issue was they couldn’t stay where they were, so dragging them up made sense.
Emma is too cute!!!!!

I’ve thought about building a small log arch using the HF quick hitch.
She is a beast 👍
Time for me to get a box blade.....
Do you plan to box blade your entire driveway and level it all out once you're done?
Yup. Once the logging is done, we are resurfacing the whole thing.
Also, why the crow hate, Emma?
I pulled single logs with a normal 25hp craftsman tractor no problem.
Nice!
more snow ❄
All my fault.

I may be a little southern at heart.
You never heard of Yankee ingenuity?
What part of NH you in? We just moved to Tennessee from NH.
We are near Peterborough.
@@TheMindfulHomestead Nice! We are near Hillsboro. I'll be heading back to NH tomorrow.

Maine forestry department recommends skidding logs top end first as it puts less load on the back of your tractor. Safer and more efficient.
Those things are sticks, lol, hook up to a 42 diameter log,25 long, and you can say that you have skidded some timber
The only reason I still have chickens is because of the crows and blue jays. They chase the hawks and eagles away.
