  • This documentary programme has been made to honour the memory of Tom Herron, a world class motorcycle racer. In a story introduced and narrated by Stephen Watson, Tom’s wife Andrea and close family members, together with key personalities from his career help tell the story of his fascinating life.
The story follows Tom from a young boy growing up in Leitrim, Co. Down, to that fateful day at the NW200 in May 1979.
It is illustrated with rare archive footage of Tom at the races as well as many unseen photographs. A fitting tribute to one of the great motorcycle racers of the 1970's.

My dad was a huge fan of Tom’s and was at the race where Tom met his fate. The following year at the TTs dad got me a Tom Herron pendant and chain with an impression of Tom racing on the front and his autograph on the back. I still have it and treasure it to this day.

Saddens me to see this. I remember the day he was killed. Worse though is when you look at how many people went to the UGP 50 years ago when we only had 3 tv channels. Even look at the size of the grid! Evolution has not been good for many things.
