    I am to the point where my next mouse will probably not be Corsair, my scroll wheel has failed on my harpoon, glaive and now my iron claw. I did the nail trick on my glaive and it only partially worked.

    If you don't have a 3d printer, you can use a small hex wrench to fix it. I just cut part of it off, heated it up with a soldering iron, then melted it through the center of the axle. It wasn't a perfect fit, so I put a bit of hot glue on it. It's worked perfectly like that for over a year. It's not visible at all and doesn't interfere with the LEDs.

      for me it was a firmware issue. Went back to release firmware and is working flawlessly, can´t say the same for the scrollwheel

      I bought my kailh red microswitches on ebay. I also tried the firmware thing and that only worked for less than 2 weeks. The omron switches are just bad and they all fail eventually.

    Used this guide to fix my Iron claw mouse. the tip of the mouse wheel that engages the scroll broke off. Didn't have the option to 3D print. I have many 2mm Hex keys to spare. So I used a metal file to bring the 2mm hexkey down to 1.7mm Fits perfectly, I then used my drill to spin the hexkey and used a metal file to round the hex key. I drilled through the mouse wheel first with at 1.5mm drill bit, then a 2mm drill bit, slotted the hexkey through the middle, added some super glue and re-assembled the mouse! Problem solved! Thank you for this Guide!

    • @mortimizer232

      Do you think this will also work with a standard 1.5mm hex key? I've seen someone else in the corsair forums solving it with that.

      @@mortimizer232 Just used this method with a filed down 2mm at one end and was able to press fit so no glue involved. I think 1.5 will be too small. Yes the tolerances are that tight and its tedious to get it to fit but mouse wheel is bullet proof now

    Very helpful video. Fixed my scroll wheel using a 1/16th inch allen/hex key as I don't have a 3d printer. It fits perfectly into the encoder wheel. Had to drill through the plastic of the scroll wheel and then twist in the allen key and cut down to size with a grinder. I didn't have to heat up as it's a very tight fit. Saved $100 on a new mouse! Thanks.

    Basicaclly everything on my mouse which was flawed/broken is now fixed...thanks guys! instead of replacing the whole wheel, I just bought an 1/16 inch allen wrench and drilled a hole through the original wheel. inserted it after heating it up and now its melted together like 1 part. Works like a charm! also the wheel-click is fixed by the alcohol. Many thanks again!

    I'm so grateful that some people just take time to record the process of taking apart a mouse. I accidently dropped my mouse, which must have unclipped something on the inside when it hit the floor, shifting my right-click position and disabling it. Disassembling and reassembling the mouse properly fixed the issue (and allowed me to clean the inside a little bit). I couldn't have done it if it wasn't for this video, huge thanks!

    Same mouse externally but wired instead, different inside and montage is way different so here a explanation for the wired ironclaw RGB:
    The screws are not on the bottom side, they are on the top. Gently with a thin blade or razorblade you can click off the top cap, it will reveal 4x a t3 (torque) screw.
    Those are not in very tight so if you do not have a t3 torque driver.
    Well I just used a watchmakers star screwdriver) once the 2nd top cap is off you have access to everything inside and can clean it like that. If you need to replace parts then you will see that all of the remaining screws that holes each side panel and electronic board together is fastened with a star screw.
    Its so well put together that one by one you can take it apart, or even leave a panel or board on if you only need to take of 1 part.

    I just fixed mine with a small 1 inch nail that was part of some wire guide/clips I have, they may be from Christmas lights or some other electronics. It has a head just the right size to keep it from going all the way through the wheel post/holder. On the actual wheel, I drill it out with the smallest bit I have from the end that is already hollow. The nail was the perfect size to fix it and left no slack or play in it. This also seems much easier than using a hex wrench and probably even more durable than any of the other fixes I'm reading about.

    Thanks for this tutorial. I managed to fix the scroll wheel on mine by applying Vaseline on the contact point. The problem on my mouse is that when I scroll down really fast, it inputs a scroll up occasionally. Disassembling was relatively easy as long as you have a torx and philips driver but reassembling was a huge pain in the ass.

    Had mine replaced under warranty once...and then the same thing happened just out of warranty. Took a rotary tool and finished snipping off the fragile tip on the wheel axel. Then, I used the large, hollow post as a guide with a tiny drill bit to create a proper hole for seating a new axel. Then, I took a junk 1/16 allen wrench that I had in the drawer, and used the rotary tool to create a small axel of the proper length. Tried just installing it in the wheel itself, but it was actually just a little bit too small to consistently turn the tiny wheel that controls scrolling.
    So, I removed it, got Gorilla super glue, dipped a sharped toothpick into it to have a very, very fine point with just the glue (because if you get any on the outside of the little orange wheel you're trying to turn, you're screwed), and coated the inside of the hex seating with it. Then, I carefully tapped in the metal hex bar from the outside toward the mouse wheel. The glue was enough to complete the gap, as well as some being on the tip to seat it in the mouse wheel itself. Once that had set up and seemed to be holding, then I very carefully repeated the dip-and-touch process with the toothpick in three locations on the axel against the orange wheel (being sure not to get any on the outer part of the turning surface).
    So far, it's working like a champ. Scrolling is smoother than when it was new. I've had good luck with this adhesive in the past, but only time will tell regarding longevity. But for now, this guy is repaired. And, I could pop it apart and touch it up with a couple of new dabs if for some reason it breaks loose over time. But knowing the strength of this stuff, that's doubtful.
    Cheap and simple, so long as you have a steady hand and are patient. But also...I'd like to smack the crap out of the guy who designed the interior of this mouse. It was clearly not done with maintenance in mind. This thing's a nightmare. Sheesh.

    I had a similar problem with a Corsair Scimitar Pro RGB. The wheel, It's axle & the pin that fits into the blue/green spinny clicky thing that registers the wheel's motion is made of cheap plastic & is all one unit. The flattened edges which wore out, thus the free spin. A meticulously placed drop of crazy glue on the tip of the pin & placed with the utmost care into the spinny/clicky part that is attached to the sensor fixed it. It's done, should have recorded the process for demo, but it's fixed now, forever, so dismantling is not an option, lulz.

    Wish this video was available when I tried repairing my mouse wheel :(. I didn't know it was such a weird assembly or I wouldn't have tried. Had the exact same issue a month after I bought my Ironclaw, didn't have the means to print my replacement mouse wheel and voided my warranty.
    I did repair other mice I had, including a Roccat Tyon, but this assembly is something else and the wheel design is so fragile almost made to be broken.
    I wouldn't have tried if I saw the issue before hand, but hindsight is 20-20 so...
    It sucks that this mouse was my favorite shape, but with such a problematic wheel I don't think I'll get another one.

    Thanks a lot! I ended up inserting a mouse wheel from another mouse I had around. Coincidentally it used the same mechanism.

      Back again. After 3 months the scroll wheel started acting up again because it slipped out of place. Once again, this video saved my ass. THANK YOU

      I saw someone said they stole the wheel from their Corsair Scimitar so I tried that and it worked! Just had to trim a bit off the Corsair Scimitar's mouse wheel right side!

    i got a hex key cut to lenght, extended the hole through the wheel by drilling, applied some glue to the metal hex key, and then put it through the wheel :D so now that part is metal

    My mouse is also broken, but I don’t know how to disassemble it. Fortunately, I found your video,thank you!!! Then I found that you also used a magnetic charging cable, this is very convenient。
    I'm sorry I don't know much English, so I can only use Google Translate

    Is the 3d printed piece (with resine) is going to be more durable than the orinal one ??
    Thanks a lot for the helpful video :)

    • @SNRTechBytes
      @SNRTechBytes  3 года назад

      It really depends on the resin. I did have to replace mine one more time (elegoo abs-like) I bet if you used an engineering grade resin like formlabs or maybe matterhackers it could be? If you got it SLS printed I suspect it would be stronger

    Hey man, awesome work on the wheel. What material do you recommend I get it printed in? I'm not the most experienced with 3D printing and I'm getting it done through a service. Thank you

    • @SNRTechBytes
      @SNRTechBytes  3 года назад

      Sorry for the delay! Check out shapeways! They offer SLA and SLS and should be able to make one for a reasonable price. I can't say I'm exactly familiar with what they would charge though

    can you sell those replacement mouse wheels?

    • @SNRTechBytes
      @SNRTechBytes  3 года назад

      Unfortunately I do not have the resources to produce these. If you do not have a printer there are some great 3d printing services where you can send a file and they'll mail you the part! Check out shapeways. I suggest using SLA or SLS technologies!

      Unfortunately yes. If you go slow and are careful you should be able to re-use the adhesive!

    • @SNRTechBytes

      Unfortunately I don't know where you can buy an OEM wheel. With that said hope is not lost! There are a number of print on demand services out there. Shapeways is a popular one worth checking out. Just make sure you order the print using either SLA or SLS material so it has high enough resolution!
