Welcome to the cap club! Couldn't have done better myself, I never imagined a bouncing shield would work that well! Definitely a potential real product, you should try and partner with Disney to make them!
This is a great example of conservation of energy, in a system not wanting to be lossy upon impact. It's hard to maintain inherent kinetic energy with something so thin, but by god I believe your solution is great. Nice work Jake.
@1:10 that’s literally it. The super soldier serum allows Cap to think faster (and see bullets after they’re already fired and heading towards him) so he really does just do these equations in his head with every throw.
I love the hacksmith, but sometimes since they’re so professional they don’t have many failed attempts on stuff, but seeing the trial and error for J, just so much more interesting to watch the actual build rather than just skipping to the final product

It would be too easy to slap some swiss cheese on a drone and say "the movie thing flies, and mine does too. They're the same!", but JLaser actually made something that acts just like the shield on screen. And he did it by getting to the root of the physics. Top tier stuff!

Funny thing is, in the comics, the actual canon explanation for the shield bouncing perfectly IS that Cap can calculate the exact trajectory needed for that throw. He practiced a lot to be able to do that.
Checked out the comments to post just this!! Pretty sure the only explanation given is that cap can "see faster" (which is an actual quote from the comics)
"Captain American is a geometry wiz that can calculate the perfect shot" Yes. That's exactly it. His super soldier mind allows him to react much quicker and much greater. He uses this, and the vibranium in the shield allowing it to absorb kinetic energy, to always hit his target and bounce back to his hands..
In the comics he can “think faster than a bullet.” He’s the best military commander of all time because of his ability to out think his opponents. It’s cool

Now THIS is a good one! For these high-traffic projects that have been attempted a lot, it seems like sometimes a fresh, simple, creative approach is the key. Love the VFX drone boomerang shot too.
The "Captain America is just a geometry whiz who can calculate angles perfectly in a split-second" explanation is pretty much spot-on correct. It's mentioned in the movies (and the comics) that the Super-Soldier Serum basically made Cap into what Steve Rogers imagined the perfect soldier to be. So his grasp of tactics and strategy, his reaction time, and his awareness of his environment are enhanced every bit as much as his muscles, skeleton, and metabolism. You can see the seed of what the Serum enhances already present in Steve, though: in the scene where everyone else tries to scramble up the flagpole to grab the flag (getting a ride instead of a hike back to base as a reward), Steve susses out that he can just remove the lynch pin and the pole will fall over, allowing him to pick the flag up off the ground. So the basic ability to figure out efficient tactics and calculate angles on the fly was there, the Serum just cranked it up to 11.
It’s funny because Cap really is just great at geometry and has excellent battlefield awareness. Canonically, he evaluates the positions of all allies and enemies and finds the best path to do the most damage without hitting his friends. He even makes mistakes sometimes and has to make big dives to catch the shield or he just misses it all together. Though that’s rare
In marvel lore (and I think even in canon) vibranium is actually the most elastic metal on the planet, on top of being ridiculously strong. The combination makes it nearly indestructible. Cap’s shield is a combination of that alloyed with proto adamantium, which is just the hardest substance known to man. The combination makes for a good shield that also bounces like crazy
Combination metal thing is in the comic not in the MCU they couldn't do the combination because a different company owned the other metal so they couldn't use the name so they just went with full vibranium

Was gonna say this. Plus, I think in the one he showed that is more unrealistic (bouncing off people) had the magnetic device. Idk if the movies stated that it helped with returning it to him like the comics or if it was just a way to hold it to his suit easier but yeah, there are definitely additional devices sometimes.
True. It's explained in the comics that his thought process and perception is faster than normal thanks to the super soldier serum. He explained it as he "thinks faster".
It’s an awesome character detail for sure however it’s kind of sad that apparently the Falcon and the U.S Agent who are both not super soldiers in the Disney plus show, are some how able to do the calculations and throw the shield as hard as Steve Rogers

fun fact, Captain America is actually a geometry wiz, in the comics he explains that he calculates the perfect angle to throw the shield so it always comes back to him
1:17 No, that’s actually from Cap. Before the super soldier serum, Steve was a math wiz, & with the serum it enhanced his reflexes & brain function along with his strength. Those ricochets are from him reading his environment & throwing his shield at the exact point he wants to throw it at & the precise force needed to keep it moving.

To be exact, chemically you don't talk about an element being a metal, elements on the left side (and lower in the table) simply have higher metallic character but all elements have such property, e.g. chlorine has a higher metallic character than fluorine (as it is below fluorine).
In the show yeah in real life it’s cgi
“ or Captain America is just a geometry whiz” you’re joking but that is actually exactly what he does. He can just do the calculations super quickly
@@joshprice5041 i mean U.S agent did end up taking the super serum, and to defend sam, captain america's skills with the shield are self-taught, while sam spent many years fighting alongside him and watching him use it. it is true that their sudden skill with the shield is a bit weird but it has a bit of reasoning behind it.
Wait true he's a super soildier that doesn't mean just strength he must have super smarts as well

In the comics it is clarified that it is due to its trigonometry developed and amplified by the injection of the super soldier

Honestly, you should make an arm device that lets you throw really far and fast

@@IEmeraldM if he actually goes and gets a patent for it they would have to pay to use the design if the military wanted to use it
1:17 No, that’s actually from Cap. Before the super soldier serum, Steve was a math wiz, & with the serum it enhanced his reflexes & brain function along with his strength. Those ricochets are from him reading his environment & throwing his shield at the exact point he wants to throw it at & the precise force needed to keep it moving.
Deathbattle had said something along those lines before. I think they didn't mention the math wiz part.
@BBC OUTLET cool
Imagine trying to find logic to shitty marvel movies
He’s also got a bit of a magnet just in case he’s a little off but yeah your comment is right
Thank you someone ACTAULLY knew, been looking for a comment like this
Technically, Cap is indeed just a geometry wiz as the super soldier serum did not only gave him peak human physical ability, but mental ability as well
To be honest, I like the headcannon is that Cap really, really, really loves Geometry.
He can master any type of weapon in a seconds
@@mistamemewide he was good at math
The shield toy sounds great
Fun fact: the serum enhanced Cap's brain as well as his body, and he actually does do all the geometry before the throw, in the comics at least

@@an_iguana4306 Hydra is much older than Cap, they are everything and everywhere. There is no chance for someone from the outside to know who is pulling the strings unless they tell you or are acting in the open obvious to everyone (like Red Skull). With this knowledge and no prior documentation, Cap assumed Hydra was started by Red Skull and there was no reason for him to question that. ;)
If you follow the comics, it was the Brotherhood of the spear at the beginning, with ages passing by until von Strucker picked up the ideology and transformed it into an army.
If you follow Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it was the Inhuman Hive and his followers. With the sole intent of having him back on earth, the organization around this goal changed many times to stay in secret.
