*Great* video. I’m struck by how once the Maple color is on your lips at 17:53 this becomes a very pure, clean vintage look. The plain round neckline, the hair back, the soft, blended, almost “baby colors”… this makes me think what a pretty neighbor would look like if she popped over for coffee in the late 1950s! So funny. Nikki Raven always says, “May your foundation always match your neck!” I actually think your’s does. There is not a significant difference between you neck color and that of your face. You look like a person whose neck is naturally a shade lighter because it never gets sun. I love how the SALT NY creams looks on you.

Hannah, I think I remember you saying at some point that you struggle to make powder work with balm foundation. The best and most convenient method I have found thus far is to use a setting spray before powdering. My best guess is that creating a neutral barrier between the balm and powder keeps them from interfering with each other too much. I've never been a regular powder or setting spray user but this combo always leaves me with a base I'm very satisfied with. I typically use Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder because it's what I have, but I've tried it with a few different powders of different types and it's worked well every time.

Salt NY is one of my absolute fav brands ever. I have the artist adjusters as well as two lightest shades of sneaky balm as well as 7 of the blush lip & cheek shades. I don't think I could ever declutter any of my salt stuff tbh. Maybe some of the blushes? Especially since I can custom create some... But the shade cocoa will go to the grave with me! 🕺✨
I know everyone cares more about the makeup, but my favorite Salt New York item is actually the palette itself. I travel a lot, and it is absolute perfection for travel! I can fit all my eyeshadows, blush, bronzer, and highlight in one palette; everything is customized, and it feels SO secure. I love it so much. 💜 I want to get the small one next for when I'm bringing even less with me. I'm always trying to streamline my travel situation as much as possible. 👌🏻

I bought the Sneaky Balm based on Hannah's original video and have enjoyed it, a word of warning though- if you like to apply foundation to your eye lids like I do (in lieu of eye shadow for a naked eye look) it will melt a bit and slide into the eyes = blurry vision. So I absolutely avoid the eyelids. This is the only negative about the product, IMHO.
Sneaky balm is so good you don’t need the exact color of your skin. Any of the light and medium shades all look equally amazing on me. Somehow they magically adjust themselves!
Oh my goodness, I LOVE Salt NY (PS I don't know the creator or her story, sorry, just discovered here on one of these channels in December). Anyway, I bought 1 mini palette and 4 tins. I knew I found the right makeup when I picked up my daughter from D&D and she said "wow mom, you look pretty today." (PS Never ever has she said that!) She then tried it and had to have it all. So there went my newly discovered makeup. Great coverage, looks amazing hours later, works both for my older skin and my teen's skin. With the Salt NY recent sale, I went and put in an order for the large palette for me, and 12 tins for both of us. Too bad you can't post photos here, I feel like I look 7 years younger with it on my face. Sneaky balm is my go to! I find the coverage medium. It really takes care of my redness, and it lasts all day for me. I am now hoping they come out with a true true pink blush, cool toned. It's kind of funny, I have been wanting for so long to try the Jones Road WTF, but free shipping is $85 (I wish it were like 50), coupled with no sales or codes (at least none I've seen) and then I think what if I don't like it then im out almost $100 with tax, or what if I like it but only want to get a couple things, I have to spend another 100. Video idea is you should get ONE Chanel eyeshadow quad- for the reasons you’ve stated. So the video would be a trying to decide which Chanel eyeshadow quad you should get. Get lots of group input/suggestions too. Sounds fun to me anyway.
The Sneaky Balm has become my favorite foundation product. I often use it with the Merit complexion stick or the Glossier Stretch Concealer. It’s not a hardcore long lasting foundation but it wears so beautifully. Touch ups, if needed, are so easy, and it’s fun to use. The Ganache cheek and lip tint is a new favorite.
I finally ordered and received my first Salt NY products last week. I ordered because of you and Cate the great Lol I tried it a few days ago and it wore beautifully all day. Thank you foe the videos.
SNY Sneaky Balm is my top favorite foundation product. I have bottles of liquid foundation I'm slowly panning to not waste the money I spent on them. But I strongly prefer my Sneaky Balm days, because my skin just looks like healthy, even-toned skin. I even find it looks best in terms of not emphasizing pores. Once I got the hang of applying SB effectively, I've just been loving that product the best. 🦋🧡🦋
I can never watch too many Salt New York videos! I’m so in love. Been trying to decide if I should get the adjusters. I use the Rare Beauty foundation brush with sneaky balm and it’s absolutely perfect! The shape of this brush makes it so easy to apply sneaky balm under the eyes and the density picks up the perfect amount of product and applies it flawlessly. Also, the Rare Beauty blush brush is perfect for the Salt Lip + cheek tints. Everyone got a Salt mini palette and the Rare Beauty foundation brush and blush brush for Christmas last year 😂

I really wanted to love this. It seemed so perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Obviously, everyone’s skin reacts differently, but this flared up my perioral dermatitis pretty bad. And it’s been YEARS since a bad flare up.

I wondered about the Salt New York products when you decluttered and figured you must have just been like, "Nope, I'm keeping it all." It doesn't fit cleanly into 1 category, so I thought maybe that was why it was not included. Have you ever considered reviewing the Kenia Ontiveros brand? I saw the glow and go kit is someone's project pan, and it looks gorgeous. There aren't many videos on the brand, and they seem luxury. It seems like a brand that might be up your alley. i don’t know here where i heard this, but i have heard that one is “supposed” to have a lighter neck than face (not like 2016 james charles or anything but subtly lighter) and match to the chest or somewhere else that receives the same amount of the sun as the face whereas the neck does not. it personally REALLY bothers me when my face is drastically different from my body, but i’ve never really noticed that on hannah so who knows

I think this was a really great example of how what looks great in person and subtle and pretty just doesn't show up in a camera... but if you do what looks good on a camera, it can be overwhelming and too much IRL.
Glad you made this, been wondering about Salt NY. The reviews have been hit and miss but the comments section has always been positive, so have been on the fence. Example I know sneaky balm is not what I want from a base product but the shade adjusters are my dream because I can never find the perfect nude or blush
Wait omg this is so funny I just placed my first order from salt New York and got my package yesterday. The three lip and check shade that I got were cocoa, maple, and ganache. Plus I also got N13, pearl, the contour and a bunch of the color correctors. This is like ridiculously perfect timing for this video for me

Oh Hannah, I felt the pleasure you felt when working with these Salt NY products. I came so close to finding a way to purchase them - I live in the UK and they don’t deliver to me. I then thought hard and said a firm NO. I do have other cream ‘pan’ foundations such as the Makeup forever HD palette. They are not like this formula at all, but can dupe the vibe of a balmy formula using a luminous primer like my Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter with a gentle application of the Makeup forever products. I’m trying to be more sensible about makeup purchases; stealing myself unless it is a truly outstanding product or, if I am travelling in a different country and the product is lovely and simply not readily available to me. Your philosophy on makeup purchasing has helped me so much and I love your content. I’m not a makeup creator and just don’t need everything that is out there!
I have the ami colé lip oil on its way to me based on your recommendation (I actually owned zero lip oils so thought it might be justified). Beautylish emailed me about a MOB beauty collab that featured a “mauve greige” lipstick and of course I thought of you (shade M102, for reference) and I am very tempted to test that shade out. I got a blush from them in the Lucky bag this year and the formula seems pretty nice. I like the minimal, refillable component concept. Once I am through some of my other products I am definitely interested in trying out salt. They seem right up my alley.

This look is absolutely ethereal and I LOVE IT! That eyeshadow is absolutely everything I'm always looking for in an eyeshadow and never finding... but buying a whole little quad for just one shadow I'd wear every time I do my makeup... I can't. I'm right there with you when you say the rose golds like... kinda orange. You're so good at finding the right words. I would always say rose golds somehow managed to be too pink or not pink enough or weirdly peachy but I think you're spot on... on some of us, they just look, orange.

I love my salt New York products but they stopped shipping internationally during Covid and still say international delivery is suspended due to Covid. I wish they would just be honest and say it’s not financially viable for a small company to ship internationally! I’ve emptied some of my pans and would love to replace them!

This always looks so lovely on you, nice to see it out and about again. Salt doesn't ship to the UK but that's OK as I'm on a very strict budget this year. I prefer to hide my discolouration as there's so much of it - not just redness, but sallowness etc. My one allowance this year is replacements and Lisa Eldridge finally released her new shades of foundation, including my new perfect match - 2.5 very fair olive! To me it just looks properly neutral with a slight "grey" cast (just like my skin) in the sample before it's applied, but I'm no expert! So that's me sorted. Now I just need a cheaper brow gel than the Benefit ones

Ya, the white will blow things out, which is why both formulas of the mixers are great to have. Okay, I'll get Maple, Ganache, and pearly highlight as part of my next SNY purchase, whenever that happens. I'm still testing to see if any of my current primers work under sneaky. My eye area really likes sneaky balm. Tangent: if I had a full coverage foundation that was the perfect match to my neck, I'd look like an old white sow.🐷I've always found that totally opaque pale foundations shrink my eyes and mouth, which are not as full, and are as greyed down as my skin. Like on you, HLP, your eye, brow, and hair color make a statement, so you can pull off the effect that say, RMS foundation, or Rose Inc concealer, does on you. I'm really all face, and everything is muted, in spite of the superficial redness. lol Finally, have any of you seen single pans that could be a dupe for that Chantecaille (rosy) taupe eyeshadow in that quad? I'm gonna go through what I have, and see if anything comes close. That quad is too pricy just to get my hands on one tiny pan. Thank you, HLP!
I get a similar vibe from ColourPop Snake Eyes. I'm light not fair, and have a peachier skin tone vs olive, but on me it's a light pinkish taupe that doesn't go orange at all
Sydney Grace has an amazing selection of taupes. SG has one of my favorite shadow formulas; & they have a robust selection of cool-neutrals & earth-tones. They have matte, satin, & metallic (called pressed pigment formula) finishes, & shades that fall along that whole spectrum. They have both singles & pre-made color-stories, sold as palettes or bundles.
I use the white cheek adjuster rather than the foundation adjuster. But I still have trouble getting a good match with Salt. Sometimes I just use the white adjuster.
I am so tempted by these balms Hannah! I am light to medium olive ( in winter I have to lighten my Dior forever 2warm olive concealer with either 1w or a very light yellow corrector to match my skin, but in summer I can be 2 WO when a bit tan). I watched your swatches and thought I should get number 8 or 9 but maybe 10. So hard to tell. Any advice? I love these new colors you have!
That’s probably not in keeping with your current ways so another idea I have is look at Andrea Ali’s newest video about what is modern makeup. I was kinda blown away by it because I thought she was 100 percent correct about what looks “modern.” I could listen to your thoughts about it for sure! So I guess it would be a response video?

Same! It's a bummer because they used to; a friend here showed me hers when they were still shipping internationally and it got me so intrigued. Then they brought out N13 and I really wanted to get my hands on it because it's so hard to get this kind of undertone. The new Lisa Eldridge 2.5 foundation is a good match for me shade-wise, but not the greatest on my dry skin - I really want to try Sneaky Balm!
What if to put destroyed salt NY pans in oven for one minute? I usually do this with my destroyed "waxy" pans. And also I melted some lipsticks together) Just don't let it boil or anything like that😅 Slightly melt salt NY products and take out of oven, put in the freezer for about 15 mins. Idk, I did it a lot of time 🤷🏻♀️ and product looks and perform just fine
I'm so sad Salt doesn't ship internationally anymore. I'm about to run out of two of my Salt tints and really bummed that I can't replace them. I have plenty of cream blush alternatives but nothing to replace her Taupe. Hopefully that new Milk contour works (if we get that in Aus either), but I have a feeling it's gonna be too warm, like most cream contour products I've tried. Never got to try the sneaky balm, really wanted to, I had a whole cart with a new eight pan palette with sneaky balms, shade adjusters new blush shades and my replacement Taupe ready to when I realised I could no longer buy from the brand. The heartbreak lol.
There isn't a ton of product in there, very true. I received my first ever Sneaky Balm in early January and am already seeing a "peek" at the pan. However, the pans are only $16 each so I'm not mad at that. (Even less if you take advantage of the Buy 3 Get 3 Free sale.) I still have a ways to go in my pan before I will finish it. Hope this helps.
It stays slightly tacky, but not sticky or to the point that my stray hairs get stuck in it. I am not a powder wearer, but on days when it's very warm or humid, I do use a very small amt of translucent setting powder over top of the sneaky balm & it takes powder well with that method. I'm not sure about baking since I don't do that. It's funny because I never thought I'd be someone that would enjoy a balm complexion product & yet salt NY sneaky balm quickly became my most used. Ever.

@@kaburzynski you're so very welcome! I'm 46 with lots of texture, old acne scarring, combination skin with some areas of dryness & dehydration as well as sensitivity. When I tell you I had been searching for decades for a complexion product that not only looked undetectable, but doesn't feel heavy/cakey/drying/emphasize texture? I had just about given up & then saw Kiki was launching sneaky balm. I already loved the lip & cheek tint so I had a "sneaking" suspicion it might be something I liked. I didn't expect to fall for it so hard, but I did! I use it with a densely packed flat brush & it does give me an almost full coverage, but I can also sheer it out. The only thing I will say might be a downside to some, is that I hit pan in the sneaky balm very quickly because I use it daily. At $16 for approx 4gm of product, I am in no way complaining! Kiki also has an ongoing code for "buy3get3“ or "buy2get1“ so being able to pick up three products for $32 or six products for $48 is incredible.

The Sneaky Balm has become my favorite foundation product. I often use it with the Merit complexion stick or the Glossier Stretch Concealer. It’s not a hardcore long lasting foundation but it wears so beautifully. Touch ups, if needed, are so easy, and it’s fun to use. The Ganache cheek and lip tint is a new favorite.

SNY Sneaky Balm is my top favorite foundation product. I have bottles of liquid foundation I'm slowly panning to not waste the money I spent on them. But I strongly prefer my Sneaky Balm days, because my skin just looks like healthy, even-toned skin. I even find it looks best in terms of not emphasizing pores. Once I got the hang of applying SB effectively, I've just been loving that product the best. 🦋🧡🦋
I can never watch too many Salt New York videos! I’m so in love. Been trying to decide if I should get the adjusters. I use the Rare Beauty foundation brush with sneaky balm and it’s absolutely perfect! The shape of this brush makes it so easy to apply sneaky balm under the eyes and the density picks up the perfect amount of product and applies it flawlessly. Also, the Rare Beauty blush brush is perfect for the Salt Lip + cheek tints. Everyone got a Salt mini palette and the Rare Beauty foundation brush and blush brush for Christmas last year 😂

Have you ever considered reviewing the Kenia Ontiveros brand? I saw the glow and go kit is someone's project pan, and it looks gorgeous. There aren't many videos on the brand, and they seem luxury. i don’t know here where i heard this, but i have heard that one is “supposed” to have a lighter neck than face (not like 2016 james charles or anything but subtly lighter) and match to the chest or somewhere else that receives the same amount of the sun as the face whereas the neck does not. it personally REALLY bothers me when my face is drastically different from my body, but i’ve never really noticed that on hannah so who knows

I think this was a really great example of how what looks great in person and subtle and pretty just doesn't show up in a camera... but if you do what looks good on a camera, it can be overwhelming and too much IRL.
I love Salt New York Sneaky Balm, and Taupe is an amazing contour product.
Glad you made this, been wondering about Salt NY. The reviews have been hit and miss but the comments section has always been positive, so have been on the fence. Example I know sneaky balm is not what I want from a base product but the shade adjusters are my dream because I can never find the perfect nude or blush
Wait omg this is so funny I just placed my first order from salt New York and got my package yesterday. The three lip and check shade that I got were cocoa, maple, and ganache. Plus I also got N13, pearl, the contour and a bunch of the color correctors. This is like ridiculously perfect timing for this video for me

Oh Hannah, I felt the pleasure you felt when working with these Salt NY products. I came so close to finding a way to purchase them - I live in the UK and they don’t deliver to me. I then thought hard and said a firm NO. I do have other cream ‘pan’ foundations such as the Makeup forever HD palette. They are not like this formula at all, but can dupe the vibe of a balmy formula using a luminous primer like my Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter with a gentle application of the Makeup forever products. I’m trying to be more sensible about makeup purchases; stealing myself unless it is a truly outstanding product or, if I am travelling in a different country and the product is lovely and simply not readily available to me. Your philosophy on makeup purchasing has helped me so much and I love your content. I’m not a makeup creator and just don’t need everything that is out there!

I have the ami colé lip oil on its way to me based on your recommendation (I actually owned zero lip oils so thought it might be justified). Beautylish emailed me about a MOB beauty collab that featured a “mauve greige” lipstick and of course I thought of you (shade M102, for reference) and I am very tempted to test that shade out. I got a blush from them in the Lucky bag this year and the formula seems pretty nice. I like the minimal, refillable component concept. Once I am through some of my other products I am definitely interested in trying out salt. They seem right up my alley.

This look is absolutely ethereal and I LOVE IT! That eyeshadow is absolutely everything I'm always looking for in an eyeshadow and never finding... but buying a whole little quad for just one shadow I'd wear every time I do my makeup... I can't. I'm right there with you when you say the rose golds like... kinda orange. You're so good at finding the right words. I would always say rose golds somehow managed to be too pink or not pink enough or weirdly peachy but I think you're spot on... on some of us, they just look, orange.

I love my salt New York products but they stopped shipping internationally during Covid and still say international delivery is suspended due to Covid. I wish they would just be honest and say it’s not financially viable for a small company to ship internationally! I’ve emptied some of my pans and would love to replace them!

This always looks so lovely on you, nice to see it out and about again. Salt doesn't ship to the UK but that's OK as I'm on a very strict budget this year. I prefer to hide my discolouration as there's so much of it - not just redness, but sallowness etc. My one allowance this year is replacements and Lisa Eldridge finally released her new shades of foundation, including my new perfect match - 2.5 very fair olive! To me it just looks properly neutral with a slight "grey" cast (just like my skin) in the sample before it's applied, but I'm no expert! So that's me sorted. Now I just need a cheaper brow gel than the Benefit ones

Do you use a damp or dry sponge? I'm never quite sure which to do with my sneaky balm. It is amazing though. I love it even just with fingers.

Ya, the white will blow things out, which is why both formulas of the mixers are great to have. Okay, I'll get Maple, Ganache, and pearly highlight as part of my next SNY purchase, whenever that happens.
I'm still testing to see if any of my current primers work under sneaky. My eye area really likes sneaky balm. Tangent: if I had a full coverage foundation that was the perfect match to my neck, I'd look like an old white sow.🐷I've always found that totally opaque pale foundations shrink my eyes and mouth, which are not as full, and are as greyed down as my skin. Like on you, HLP, your eye, brow, and hair color make a statement, so you can pull off the effect that say, RMS foundation, or Rose Inc concealer, does on you. I'm really all face, and everything is muted, in spite of the superficial redness. lol
Finally, have any of you seen single pans that could be a dupe for that Chantecaille (rosy) taupe eyeshadow in that quad? I'm gonna go through what I have, and see if anything comes close. That quad is too pricy just to get my hands on one tiny pan.

I get a similar vibe from ColourPop Snake Eyes. I'm light not fair, and have a peachier skin tone vs olive, but on me it's a light pinkish taupe that doesn't go orange at all
Sydney Grace has an amazing selection of taupes. SG has one of my favorite shadow formulas; & they have a robust selection of cool-neutrals & earth-tones. They have matte, satin, & metallic (called pressed pigment formula) finishes, & shades that fall along that whole spectrum. They have both singles & pre-made color-stories, sold as palettes or bundles.
I am also N13. I just got the white shade adjuster and want to play with it for lips. The color on everyone else is never how they look on me.

I use the white cheek adjuster rather than the foundation adjuster. But I still have trouble getting a good match with Salt. Sometimes I just use the white adjuster.

I am so tempted by these balms Hannah! I am light to medium olive ( in winter I have to lighten my Dior forever 2warm olive concealer with either 1w or a very light yellow corrector to match my skin, but in summer I can be 2 WO when a bit tan). I watched your swatches and thought I should get number 8 or 9 but maybe 10. So hard to tell. Any advice? I love these new colors you have!

I was kinda blown away by it because I thought she was 100 percent correct about what looks “modern.” I could listen to your thoughts about it for sure! So I guess it would be a response video?

Same! It's a bummer because they used to; a friend here showed me hers when they were still shipping internationally and it got me so intrigued. Then they brought out N13 and I really wanted to get my hands on it because it's so hard to get this kind of undertone. The new Lisa Eldridge 2.5 foundation is a good match for me shade-wise, but not the greatest on my dry skin - I really want to try Sneaky Balm!

What if to put destroyed salt NY pans in oven for one minute? I usually do this with my destroyed "waxy" pans. And also I melted some lipsticks together) Just don't let it boil or anything like that😅 Slightly melt salt NY products and take out of oven, put in the freezer for about 15 mins. Idk, I did it a lot of time 🤷🏻♀️ and product looks and perform just fine

I'm so sad Salt doesn't ship internationally anymore. I'm about to run out of two of my Salt tints and really bummed that I can't replace them. I have plenty of cream blush alternatives but nothing to replace her Taupe. Hopefully that new Milk contour works (if we get that in Aus either), but I have a feeling it's gonna be too warm, like most cream contour products I've tried. Never got to try the sneaky balm, really wanted to, I had a whole cart with a new eight pan palette with sneaky balms, shade adjusters new blush shades and my replacement Taupe ready to when I realised I could no longer buy from the brand. The heartbreak lol.

There isn't a ton of product in there, very true. I received my first ever Sneaky Balm in early January and am already seeing a "peek" at the pan. However, the pans are only $16 each so I'm not mad at that. (Even less if you take advantage of the Buy 3 Get 3 Free sale.) I still have a ways to go in my pan before I will finish it. Hope this helps.

Does the sneaky balm transfer or stay sticky on the face? I am intrigued because I love the L’Oréal balm foundation which dries down
It stays slightly tacky, but not sticky or to the point that my stray hairs get stuck in it. I am not a powder wearer, but on days when it's very warm or humid, I do use a very small amt of translucent setting powder over top of the sneaky balm & it takes powder well with that method. I'm not sure about baking since I don't do that. It's funny because I never thought I'd be someone that would enjoy a balm complexion product & yet salt NY sneaky balm quickly became my most used. Ever.

@@kaburzynski you're so very welcome! I'm 46 with lots of texture, old acne scarring, combination skin with some areas of dryness & dehydration as well as sensitivity. When I tell you I had been searching for decades for a complexion product that not only looked undetectable, but doesn't feel heavy/cakey/drying/emphasize texture? I had just about given up & then saw Kiki was launching sneaky balm. I already loved the lip & cheek tint so I had a "sneaking" suspicion it might be something I liked. I didn't expect to fall for it so hard, but I did! I use it with a densely packed flat brush & it does give me an almost full coverage, but I can also sheer it out. The only thing I will say might be a downside to some, is that I hit pan in the sneaky balm very quickly because I use it daily. At $16 for approx 4gm of product, I am in no way complaining! Kiki also has an ongoing code for "buy3get3“ or "buy2get1“ so being able to pick up three products for $32 or six products for $48 is incredible.
